Update 7.7.1b Announced

September 5th, 2025

Broadsword has announced Game Update 7.7.1b, which is releasing on Tuesday, September 9th, 2025 with patch notes coming on Monday. They expect servers to be down for a whopping 8 hours and will be bringing them down a few hours earlier than usual at 5 AM CT | 10 AM UTC.

While there will be normal bug fixes, the cause of the longer downtime period is “Game Server Database upgrades”.

It’s unclear if we will experience any speed or latency improvements from these upgrades, but I’m hopeful that we experience less hitching froming sources like:

  • Interacting with vendors who have a lot of items
  • Changing loadouts
  • Opening legacy cargo hold
  • Dynamic Encounters changing
  • Disrobed companions appearing in others’ SHs

Again, nothing is confirmed, it might not have any immediate improvements, but so much of what happens in this game is server database interactions. Of course, knowing Broadsword, we could end up with half our toons getting inadvertently deleted on Tuesday as well…

Activity Finder Revealing Activity Fixed

August 31st, 2025

There was an issue with the rollout of Activity Finder where it would show you the piece of content it selected before you had to accept the queue pop, so people could decline it if they got something they didn’t prefer.

Broadsword was able to fix this earlier in the week without bringing down the servers. Below, you can read Eric Musco’s full post explaining this:

Hey folks,

I wanted to let you know about a change that just got rolled out via client patch. In 7.7.1 we made a variety of changes to the Activity Finder UI and one of those changes was that when your Flashpoint/Operation queue would pop it would show you exactly which piece of content you were about to enter. Ex: it might display Athiss, Black Talon, etc. This was not intended.

This part of the UI was meant to pull down data relating to which type of content you were entering (ex: Master Mode Flashpoint) but not exactly which piece of that content. The reason for that distinction is exactly what many of you are currently experiencing. Bad actors can see a queue pop, see it isn’t the precise Flashpoint they want, decline the queue (ruining that queue pop for 3 other players) and simply requeue. This was obviously not our intended behavior.

In fact, we implemented a way in 7.7.1 already for players to have more agency over which content they did or did not play while still being to receive rewards if there were specific Flashpoints or Ops they really didn’t want to play without negatively impacting the experience of other players.

Although we missed it before it went live, thanks to all of your reports we spotted it quickly and were able to address it in a way that didn’t require us to take the servers down so thanks all!

7.7.1a Announced and Patch Notes

August 20th, 2025

Broadsword has announced update 7.7.1a along with patch notes (below), which will release August 21st at 7 AM CT / 12:00 PM UTC to fix the biggest issues introduced with 7.7.1.

  • Preferred status players are now able to use equipped gear that requires Artifact Authorization.
    • Note: If this gear is ever unequipped, players will need to either purchase Artifact Authorization (for character or account) or renew their subscription in order to re-equip that gear.
  • The game no longer crashes to the desktop when the mouse cursor hovers over the Play button, in the mission tracker or map window, during gameplay while certain missions are active.
  • Activity Finder will now persist the selected role(s) that players choose while in queue.
  • Data has been restored to the columns that were missing information in the Guild Roster Window.
  • Fixed the issue that caused Dark Side Corruption 2 and 3 to render as black on certain skin tones.

Artifact Authorization Issue

August 20th, 2025

Broadsword has acknowledged the issues that Preferred players are experiencing with artifact gear following update 7.7.1. They have a hotfix planned for this week and recommend you DO NOT unequip your gear.

Hey everyone,

We saw reports of players seeing issues with their gear no longer being functional. This is due to a bug with the changes we made to Artifact Authorization. I’m going to lay out what our intention was with the Artifact Authorization change, what the bug actually is, and when a fix will be coming.

It was intended that Preferred status players would be able to continue wearing gear that had Artifact Authorization added in 7.7.1, similar to the existing way that players can continue to wear gear that requires Artifact Authorization when moving from Subscriber to Preferred.

The bug affected players are seeing is that their currently equipped gear is no longer functional. That is not intended. We are targeting a fix to go out this week. In the meantime, we recommend that you DO NOT unequip any of your gear. Keep your gear on and when the fix goes out this week, it will be functional again.

Reminder, if at any point you are a Preferred player and take off gear that requires Artifact Authorization, you will need to either purchase Artifact Authorization (for character or account) or renew your subscription in order to re-equip that gear.

I will keep you all updated on the exact timing of the fix once I get that info.
