Datapad Locations at Dantooine Crash Site in SWTOR

Endonae by Endonae|

There are 18 Datapads with unique stories and details about the biomes, scientists and events at the Dantooine Crash Site. This guide will show you their locations and contents.

This guide is based on the latest PTS 7.8 release, which may be unfinished or subject to change.

Datapad Purpose

The Datapads are not part of a mission. They may be part of an achievement, but achievements are not available on PTS.

You can find most of them at any point at the locations shared below. Some of the Datapads are locked behind a requirement, which may be a reputation or progression with the Wreckage on Dantooine mission.

The Datapads present personal and professional updates from the scientists that work at the Forward Camps in each of the three biomes and the Research Camp. Each Datapad is numbered according to its position as shown in the shot of the campsite.

Research Camp Datapads

There are five Datapads scattered throughout the Research Camp region.

Part 1

The two Datapads near the Mailbox at the Research Camp are shown in the picture below.

Research Camp Datapad 1

Research Camp Datapad 1 is leaning against a lantern on a table in the middle of the big tent near the Mailbox.

[ Progress Log: Entry 005

We’ve been on Dantooine for almost a week, and the progress we’ve made is awe-inspiring! So many qualified people from such diverse organizations have come to help containment efforts. I’ve already noted many of them as potential GSI recruits.

While relocating indigenous fauna away from the danger, we’ve identified some specimens that show great promise for GSI’s bioweapons division.

And the most amazing find—initial scans of the ship’s wreckage revealed something I’ve never seen before: modular self-constructing systems, still active! Further observation indicates that they create and customize environs for the ship’s many diverse specimens. Astounding! And fortuitous.

Imagine what GSI could do with this technology in areas like emergency transport or temporary shelters. My own projects will greatly benefit from such a discovery. I can’t wait to get my hands on these systems. ]

Research Camp Datapad 2

Research Camp Datapad 2 is resting on a table located inside Doctor Porav’s tent near the red shield entrance to the Jannimak.

[ Progress Log: Entry 017

Progress in cataloging recaptured specimens is being hampered by… questionable efforts from the technicians my Galactic Sustainability Institute colleagues brought with them.

I’m not one given to conspiracy theories, but I am increasingly concerned that these “technicians” are industrial spies sent by Czerka. They spend most of their time huddling together or chatting on private comms, yet they seem to know more than they should about the Jannimak and its systems. I checked their access logs—they’ve never even accessed the project libraries.

Still, I don’t want to act against them without stronger evidence than my suspicions. I’m considering assigning them to a task away from the main site. Depending on how they react, maybe I can convince security to search their quarters, too. ]

Part 2

The remaining three Datapads spread across the entire region of the Research Camp are pictured below.

Research Camp Datapad 1

Research Camp Datapad 2 is resting on top of a crate right next to the GSI Material Support Reputation Vendor.

Jannimak Access:
Jannimak Tunnel Entrance–Access Card Required
WARNING: Tunnel leads to ship interior, patrolled by Jannimak security droids. Entry is prohibited unless accompanied by approved security personnel.

Research Camp Datapad 2

Research Camp Datapad 2 is resting on a table outside the big tent uphill from the rest of the Research Camp. This Datapad does not appear until certain conditions have been met, likely related to completing one of the Czerka encounters inside the ship.

[ Progress Log: Entry 036

New data from our radiometric analysis team suggests that the environmental zones near the Jannimak wreckage are receiving outside datastreams. This is troubling as we did not detect these signals during our initial survey. And I don’t believe it’s a coincidence that as the datastreams strengthen, the ship’s systems and droids are working faster and more aggressively.

The question now is where are these datastreams coming from? We’ve ruled out any kind of local surface broadcast, so our best guess—given the signal strength—is a point of origin in orbit over Dantooine. We’ve confirmed the source isn’t any of the ships we know about, so I’ve assigned a team to explore other possibilities. Perhaps some kind of remote, with stealth technology? We must find out quickly. The situation on the ground is chaotic enough as it is. ]

Research Camp Datapad 3

This Datapad is at the Primal Rock secret location and is a simple warning from Profession Cavalz not to interact with the rock at all.

Start from the southeast end of the Research Camp. Head up the slope and move northeast until you reach the corner of the global map.

Path to outside the map Rock

The Datapad is located on top of a pair of metal containers next to the “special” rock.

Professor Cavalz's Warning Map

The datapad contains the following text:

ATTENTION: URGENT!:
STOP!
Do not study, touch, scan, speak with, or otherwise interact with this rock unless you have a Level Five or higher Geological Aptitude rating (which you do not!).
–Professor Cavalz

Glacial Trespass Camp Datapads

There are 4 Datapads at the Glacial Trespass Camp, one in each of the side tends and two in the big main tent.

Glacial Datapads Numbered

Glacial Datapad 1

Glacial Datapad 1 is located Doctor Kontor’s tent resting on top of a sandbag.

[ Performance evaluation: Doctor Maniks
Initial observations: Too meddlesome. Jovial demeanor and “sunny” disposition suggest primary focus is on making friends, rather than data collection.
Proposed development plan: Reinforce commitment to mission parameters and GSI goals.
Personal directive: Ignore attempts at fraternization.

Performance evaluation: Doctor Sanner
Initial observations: Uninhibited enthusiasm and appreciation for botanical sciences. Exquisite sample cataloguing methods. Unquenchable curiosity. Proposed development plan: Reward continued commendable performance.
Personal directive: Determine what sort of flowers he would appreciate. Perhaps Banalilies? They are renowned for their hardiness in the elements….

Performance evaluation: Doctor Spears
Initial observations: Antisocial tendencies. Complete disregard for authority.
When I reminded him of his responsibilities as part of this team, he responded by suggesting I perform a very colorful act involving “rankweed.” I will not commit his words to written record.
Proposed development plan: Reassign to Professor Edreck’s team. Personal directive: Avoid direct communication wherever possible. ]

Glacial Datapad 2

Glacial Datapad 2 is resting on one of the medical beds on the left side of the big tent.

[ After Doctor Kontor’s many, many requests, I’ve shifted the direction of my research. I’ve been mostly focused on the bugs that have taken over the place, but apparently that work isn’t important unless it can also tell us something about the plants.

But since I’ve changed focus, I learned something unexpected: there are insects that are actually responsible for spreading the plants! Kontor’s been looking for a way to get rid of a lot of this vegetation, and all along, the key was the bugs! Once I pinpoint where the bulk of them are coming from, I’m gonna rub this in Kontor’s face. I can’t wait. ]

Glacial Datapad 3

Glacial Datapad 3 is on top of a crate on the right side of the big tent.

[ I’ve made so many attempts to get through to Doctor Kontor, but if it’s not about plants, he doesn’t care. I’d all but given up, but I think he’s finally getting what been trying to tell him.

It’s not just the critters and the plants that are keeping things frozen around here. Nothing from the Jannimak that Kontor and I are studying should be able to survive on its own in Dantooine’s climate. So how is this invasive stuff so indestructible? It’s ’cause the Jannimak’s droids are keeping it that way!

We push further into the area, and the ship’s droids push us right back. The more they shoot at us, the more time they buy for the ship to make this place colder than a wampa’s foot. If we don’t find a way to take care of this problem, I have a feeling the droids are going to get fed up with our meddling and take more drastic measures. ]

Glacial Datapad 4

Glacial Datapad 4 is located on the ground in a little tent next to the Hazard Mitigation Module.

[ Project update: Doctor Maniks
Although I applaud Doctor Maniks for throwing herself headlong into her duties, she is overly fixated on a particular species of insect. She believes these “critters”—her words, not mine—may be promoting the growth of the invasive flora. I have authorized Maniks to follow up on this hypothesis, with a firm reminder that she is not to ignore her other obligations.

Project update: Doctor Sanner
Doctor Sanner has presented his latest findings to me, and they are nothing short of remarkable. His evidence unequivocally points to a complex network of vegetation that chills everything in its immediate proximity as it grows. This is supported by firsthand accounts: several of our researchers have also reported slowed movement and physical pain caused by drastic drops in temperature.

Because of this, Sanner is under strict orders to abandon the search for this plant system’s nucleus. Our more combat-minded partners will assist in the endeavor. ]

Geothermal Disruption Camp Datapads

There are four Datapads spread across Geothermal Disruption Forward Camp.

Geothermal Datapad 1

Geothermal Datapad 1 is resting on a table between the G.S.I. Speeders and some shelves.

[ Personal Research Journal Entry: 044
Our actions in the field seem to be escalating the ship’s operations locally. It’s deploying more droids, which are setting up more machinery and triggering more lava flow. But this might work to our advantage.

Professor Cavalz disagrees, but I think gaining access to an entry point for this section of the wreckage may be important to controlling activity in this area. If I can locate a weak point in the ship’s defenses or track some of its worker droids back to where they’re coming from, I’m sure I can find something to help us stop them.

The droids seem to be more numerous near a tunnel structure in the northwest area of the Geothermal Disruption zone, so I’ll see if I can get someone to help scout there. ]

Geothermal Datapad 2

Geothermal Datapad 2 is sitting on a portable workstation in front of Processor Naul next to the Hazard Mitigation Module. This entry will not appear until you locate the Professor Cavalz’s Primal Rock at the Research Camp.

[ Personal Research Journal Entry: 039
Professor Cavalz’s obsession with rocks is completely out of hand. He’s somehow managed to convince some of the other researchers that this one particular rock is…I don’t know, magical or something? It’s borderline insane. Meanwhile, actual living creatures in the area are suffering and dying and Cavalz just seems depressed that he has to help save them!

Okay, maybe that’s not completely fair. He was saying something earlier about performing calculations for toxic fume drift. I suppose I should go do what he’s talking about. But it he starts talking about his “universal rock” again, I swear I’m going to lose it. ]

Geothermal Datapad 3

Geothermal Datapad 3 resting on a crate behind the one and only Professor Cavalz inside the big tent. This entry will not appear until you locate the Professor Cavalz’s Primal Rock at the Research Camp.

[ Research Log Entry 0147
The sign seems to be keeping the other scientists away from my primal rock, but my excitable coworkers are also ignoring something potentially devastating, which shouldn’t surprise me.

I’m detecting fumes from the toxic runoff created by the Jannimak’s wreckage. My calculations indicate that the fumes will soon spread to other areas, with a high probability they will cause unpredictable, catastrophic reactions—snow could melt into deadly poison, spores could mutate into who knows what, and rocks will certainly suffer significant damage! As unstable as these environs are, the possibilities are nearly limitless. I’ve tried to convey the severity of this, but no one seems to listen to me. Maybe if I make another sign… ]

Geothermal Datapad 4

Geothermal Datapad 4 is resting on a sleeping bag in one of the small tents behind the two Geothermal Researcher NPCs. This entry will not appear until you locate the Professor Cavalz’s Primal Rock at the Research Camp.

[ Research Log Entry 0057
I’m on the ledge northeast of the crash perimeter, and there is no doubt in my mind that I’ve found a very special rock. No other rock conveys such a strong feeling of warmth and comfort. This isn’t just an unusual rock—I’m convinced it’s a primal rock, the key to a deeper understanding, beyond our natural perception, of all geologic matter and how it’s connected! I need to uncover these mysteries, but of course I’m constantly interrupted by requests to help wrangle the space zoo specimens.

Now my fellow researchers are becoming obsessed with the rock, too. Their interest is validating, but they don’t understand what they’re dealing with. If they interact with the rock, they’ll only hurt it. Or themselves, I suppose. I can’t trust them to keep themselves under control around it. I put up a sign to prevent them from disturbing my rock, which should settle the matter. ]

Sporefall Camp Datapads

There are five Datapads at the Sporefall camp, three of which are located in the main hut and two are located in Doctor Spears’ private camp.

Sporefall Datapad 1

Sporefall Datapad 1 is located next to some books resting on top of a blue sleeping bag inside Doctor Armaxa’s tent.

[One unsent draft]
Doctor Pordav,
I received the first three requests you sent about the Lurak Thistle. As I said in my most recent status report (see below), the search is currently underway. I understand the importance of studying the plant for its neural influencing properties, but addressing your continued reminders is only adding to my workload. If you need this task completed sooner, speak to Professor Cavalz. None of his specimens require regular feeding.

Lurak Thistle plant progress:
Initial surveys of the arbor floor and understory layer found no evidence of the Lurak Thistle’s existence. From the little data Doctor Kontor has gathered about the trees, we likely won’t find it in the emergent layer either. Our best bet is to search the canopy, which we can’t reach until the spores are reasonably controlled. Until then, we’ll make use of scanners. ]

Sporefall Datapad 2

Sporefall Datapad 2 is located on top of a crate next to Professor Edreck.

[ Progress Log: New Entry
I’m disappointed to report that our late arrival to the Sporefall camp has wandered off. Again. And we’ve seen no sign of him for a concerning length of time. If it were anyone else, I wouldn’t think twice, but I do worry that Doctor Spears hasn’t been adequately educated on the risks of prolonged exposure to the spores.

Still, Spears does bring a particular brand of fearlessness to the team that the rest of us lack. I only wish he were as forthcoming as he is intrepid. He mentioned that he might have found a way into the interior of the Jannimak’s wreckage, which we’ve been searching for tirelessly. If only he had shared the details of his findings before we lost contact with him.

When he returns, I will speak with him about the importance of maintaining open lines of communication, especially as we search for the ship’s control centers. }

Sporefall Datapad 3

Sporefall Datapad 3 is located at the main camp on a table next to the taxi speeder.

[Progress Log: New Entry
After such a notably disastrous sample collection, I’ve confined poor Vriss to medical supervision for the time being. I thought we had figured out how to defend against the worst of the spores’ influence, but the blasted things have changed… well, “tactics” doesn’t seem like the right word for something without sentience, but I can’t think of anything else that so accurately describes what’s happening.

One moment the spores increase aggressive tendencies in anyone who breathes them in; the next, they impede muscular function and capacity just by touching unprotected skin. If I didn’t know any better, I’d say that the Jannimak’s systems—the ones that are propagating and spreading the spores—are conducting experiments, collecting data on the spores’ effectiveness. Until we can reliably predict these effects—or ideally, mitigate them—progress here will be hindered. ]

Sporefall Datapad 4

Sporefall Datapad 4 is located on a crate inside Doctor Spears’ tent.

I already told you I’m not coming back, so quit asking. I’m done with the Nova Blades.

I knew those idiots wouldn’t be able to handle a ship like this. Not one of ’em could even strap their boots up right, and they thought they’d make heads or tails of this stuff? Now the blasted thing’s crashed… but I’m gonna be the one who takes home all the loot.

See, I’ve actually got a brain, and I’ve done my homework. These know-it-alls are my ticket into where the goodies are stashed. For all their smarts, they sure don’t pay enough attention. And when they’re not looking, I’ll walk right out with enough high-tech gear to pay off my pazaak debts AND stash enough away to run a few jobs of my own.
]

Sporefall Datapad 5

Sporefall Datapad 5 is located on top of the portable workstation at Doctor Spears’ camp. This entry will not appear until you’ve completed Doctor Spears, I presume? and/or Return of Doctor SPORES.

[ WHOEVER IS USING MY DATAPAD—DO NOT TOUCH IT AGAIN, OR I WILL BE FORCED TO GIVE YOU TO MY PETS FOR THEIR AMUSEMENT!

MY RESEARCH NOTES ARE FAR MORE IMPORTANT THAN WHATEVER PRIMITIVE SCHEME YOU ARE PURSUING. THE FATE OF ENTIRE WORLDS IS AT STAKE, AND YOU ARE WASTING VALUABLE STORAGE SPACE BY MESSAGING YOUR “FRIENDS!” ]
