Secrets of Diablo 4: Echo of Uber Diablo

As of Patch 3.2.2, the much anticipated spawn of Uber Diablo has arrived. Find out how to spawn this new secret boss and the rewards for doing so with this guide.

How to Spawn Uber Diablo

At the current time, Echo of Uber Diablo will only spawn following a World Boss Event. It’s not a random chance either, as some people may think, but instead that “random chance” is the result of the hidden requirements for spawning the boss.

THIS GUIDE IS BASED ON CURRENT KNOWLEDGE OF THIS SECRET AS WELL AS DATAMINING.
As a result, all of the specific details are not yet known. However, there is enough known to provide an actual method for the spawn.

Stone of Jordan Condition

As anyone familiar with Diablo 2 might have suspected, the Echo of Uber Diablo does in fact involve the Unique Stone of Jordan Ring. These fairly uncommon rings are rarely found as drops from the Hell’s Legacy Portals and Nightmares (mini-dungeons).

Unlike Diablo 2 however, Stone of Jordans cannot be sold, instead, you need to to do the next closest thing, salvage them.

Since the start of Season 15, which brought the Stone of Jordan with it, there has been a hidden “SOJ_Salvaged” line that was found among other variables within datamined code. As of Patch 3.2.2, this variable appears to have finally become active, allowing for the spawn.

So you need to salvage Stone of Jordans, but how many? Well, this depends entirely on the players at the World Boss. It’s estimated that the group at the World Boss needs to have salvaged a minimum of 125 Stone of Jordans (This value has yet to be fully confirmed, and could be as low as 75, much like the original secret), similar to the Online requirements of spawning Diablo Clone in Diablo 2 or Diablo 2 Resurrected.

Employing a strategy similar to the Wishing Well for the Lucky Coin and Ring of Misfortune, inviting friends that have salvaged Stone of Jordans and having them leave party until your World Boss instance is full will help ensure the boss will spawn, as well as reduce the number of potential leechers.

This value can be spread across as many players as desired, but is limited by the number of players in a world boss instance, which appears to be around 12. So it is possible to lucky out and never have salvaged a Stone of Jordan at all, but still encounter Echo of Uber Diablo.

World Boss Condition

If the requirement is met, then Echo of Uber Diablo will spawn following the World Boss, with the message “Diablo walks the earth” appearing on-screen and in chat.

This spawn is set to only trigger on World Bosses as far as testing has shown. This puts a hard cooldown on the spawn rate of Uber Diablo, unlike with Diablo 2 where it was solely based on the condition. World Bosses spawn roughly every 3 1/2 hours, so keep an eye on the timers to know when you can next attempt the fight.

Unfortunately, being a World Boss also means he’ll get defeated almost immediately in higher Torment Tiers, so if he does have any special mechanics, it’ll take more dedicated testing to sort those out. Though, it does seem like is the same Diablo Encounter as what you’d see in the Hell’s Legacy Nightmare, just stronger and scaled the same as a world boss.

Echo of Uber Diablo Rewards

Much like the spawn method, if you’re familar with Diablo 2, you already have an idea of his chase drop: the Annihilus Unique Seal. Yup, the only real change to is is that it is a Unique Seal, rather than a Charm for Diablo 4.

MAKE SURE TO TURN OFF YOUR LOOT FILTER AFTER DEFEATING ECHO OF UBER DIABLO.
The Annihilus Seal is a Unique, not a Mythic, meaning the majority of Endgame Loot Filters will hide it and does not show up in the item list to allow as an exception.

Given what it provides, it’s quite powerful, but alone it can be debatable whether or not it’s worth giving up a more powerful Endgame Seal, such as Seal of the Diamond Mind or Seal of the Golden Epiphany.

If you do want to use it, you’ll want to make sure it has suitable Set bonuses for your build before committing to changing anything around for it. That, as well as rolled to much better stats.

However, it’s an excellent Seal if your current character doesn’t get much benefit from either of those Mythic Options, or you haven’t gotten them yet. It could also be paired with Hellfire Torch from the Echo of Tristram Secret, allowing you to keep a 5-set bonus with 4 charms, as well as a Unique Charm in addition to it

Other Secret Bosses

The Echo of Uber Diablo is one of the many secret bosses added to Diablo 4 in Season 15. Not all of these bosses are available outside of Seasonal Realms at the moment, but seem likely to carry over into Eternal in some fashion later on.

Echo of Uber Diablo joins the ranks of Moophisto, who wraps up the Secret Cow Level questline; The Unlucky Council, who caps off the Lucky Coin questline; Echoes of the Prime Evils, which are the end of the Echo of Tristram Secret; and Mefishto, a surprise fishing encounter; all added with Season 15.

As always when it comes to these guides for Diablo 4’s many secrets, they wouldn’t be quite as detailed without the assistance of the many dedicated secret hunters of the “D4 – Not Finding a Cow Level” Discord. Thanks for allowing me to join up for the spawn and get access to the boss sooner!
