SWTOR 5.8 Known Issues and Workarounds

Vulkk by Vulkk|

With each new update to Star Wars The Old Republic some new bugs are unintentionally introduced as well. It’s inevitable for any and all MMO games and SWTOR isn’t an exclusion.

This article is part of the collective post: Everything About SWTOR Patch 5.8 Command Authority

Here is a list of the most common issues and as well as some possible workarounds and fixes for them in the most recent Game Update 5.8 “Command Authority”. The following issues and workarounds are posted either officially by Bioware on the forums or noticed and reported by myself and other players from the community!

Check out other posts from that line “Known Issues and Fixes“!

This post is being updated with new information about new bugs and possible workaround of official fixes regularly. If you have an issue to report, please, share it in the comments below. if you can provide a workaround for the community, that would be very appreciated.

Solo Ranked Missions Rewards Bugged

Apparently the bug results from an internal issue that reverted the Ranked Warzone rewards to their state from before the latest changes in Game Update 5.7. Currently the intended reward is not being given to the players. More information is expected on this issue soon. Check back later for an update.

The issue has been fixed in Game Update 5.8a.

Conquest Ilum objectives auto-complete

Killing random NPCs will grant Conquest kill credit for the Gree Bosses. This is a known bug, confirmed by Eric Musco on the official forums. It is not considered an exploit and players will not be punished for completing the Ilum objectives by not actually killing the bosses from the Gree event. A fix is scheduled for the next update (date currently unknown).

Conquest Missing Objectives Bug

Many players reported and complained that the new conquest system is missing vital group content, such as participation in PvP activities (In the first Gree event there was only “win” objectives for PvP). Eric Musco confirmed that this is a bug and all Conquest weekly events should and will have heavy priority on all group activities, including Group Finder: Flashpoints, Group Finder: Operations, PvP: Participating and Winning, GSF: Participating and Winning. The next week’s event will contain all of the above as will all other events to follow. (Source)

Rampage Conquest objectives reset

Several players have reported on Reddit that upon logging out of your character, you may lose the progress on our Rampage objectives from the Gree Conquest event. If you kill 200 mobs on Ilum and then switch to another character, the progress on your first character may be reset immediately (before the daily reset occurs). There is no known workaround or a fix yet.

Arcann Romance mission is missing

The Arcann Romance mission, available with Game Update 5.8, is in the form of an Alliance Alert – “Unmasked Regrets“. It becomes available to all players, who have completed KOTET and have spared Arcann’s life during the story. This and the other missions for returning classic companions from 5.7 and 5.8 seems to be different in terms that they do not require you to have completed “To Find a Findsman” mission and have Yuun.

Iokath Grouping Issues

Iokath keeps behaving oddly when it comes to grouping. Upon landing on the planet or traveling to the entrance of the Operation “Gods from the Machine”, you may find yourself out of your own group that you came with. Simply ask for a new invite. If the invite is not possible, you may need to re-log to another character for a moment, then come back to the first one again. I personally had to do this twice until it worked on Patch Day. There is no other known workaround yet and no word from Bioware about an upcoming fix.

Launcher Update Issue

“This application has encountered an unspecified error. Please try this patch again”. This error keeps coming back time and time again through the years. If it happens to you and you continue to see the same error, contact Customer Support or just keep trying the launcher. For me, when I had this happen to me in the past, I simply waited an hour or… a few hours, and when I tried to log in after that, it was all back to normal.
