BioWare announced today that SWTOR 5.9.3’s launch has been re-scheduled due to present bugs. The new date is one week from now – October 2nd
A message appeared on the official SWTOR forums at the end of the work day today. When we were all waiting to see the patch notes for 5.9.3, community manager Eric Musco announced that the studio decided to push back the update for next Tuesday – October 2nd.
There are three major issues that prevented this update from going live as planned on September 26th: An issue with the Conquest scheduling which will stop it from proceeding as intended; The interface for holocalls not displaying properly; The preview window not activating properly for a variety of item types.
Musco said that there are possible workarounds for all these listed issues, but the developers made the decision to fix them before going live with the update.
The Maintenance originally scheduled for tomorrow, is also moved for next week. From the way it was said, looks like we wont have downtime tomorrow (Wednesday, 26th).
The Double XP (noticed Musco once again called it “XP”, not “Rewards”) has been moved to September 9th to September 16th.
Here is the full message:
Hey folks,
The team has made the decision to delay the launch of Game Update 5.9.3 to next Tuesday, October 2nd. We have a handful of known issues that we are tracking for the Update which we want to address before it goes live. Unfortunately, we were unable to get them fixed in time for our planned release date tomorrow.
Some of the issues we are seeing include:
- An issue with our Conquest scheduling which will stop it from proceeding as intended.
- The interface for holocalls not displaying properly.
- The preview window not activating properly for a variety of item types.
In each one of these instances there is a workaround which would not actually block gameplay. Still, if we can avoid those issues being live we would like to. We are going to take the extra time to address these issues to give you the best 5.9.3 we can. I will provide further updates as we move towards next week. Double XP will also move back one week to 10/9 – 10/16. Thank you all for your understanding and we apologize for the late notice.
That gives you all one additional week of… waiting. Let me quickly remind you what the update is expected to deliver, beyond the fixed bugs listed up there. The new Huttball PvP map on Vandin is making it live and is introducing a few new alterations to the traditional Huttball layout. The PvP tank changes are also expected to be part of the update, after they were delayed for further testing from 5.9.2’s schedule.
If you haven’t been following the development closely, let me refresh your memory with this “Everything About” article that has been a tradition for me and VULKK.com for a long time now:
Update 5.9.3 is the final addition to the “Summer of PvP” for SWTOR (my own naming, but I like it and I stick to it :P). The next content update – 5.10 “Jedi Under Siege” is expected some time in late November (optimistically) or more likely early to mid December. It will introduce a new narrative starting up with a Republic vs Empire conflict and leading the Galaxy to a full-scale war in 2019.
