BioWare revealed the scheduled release date for Star Wars: The Old Republic’s game update 5.10.1. The patch is expected to go live on February 12th. It introduces a new lair boss on Ossus, adds the missing Masterwork weapons and brings the end to Season 10.
Most of update 5.10.1’s content has been on PTS for testing since before the Holidays. The developers allowed players to test the Hive Queen lair boss in its various stages of development.
This new encounter is available in Story and Veteran Mode for 8 or 16 players. It is a one-boss encounter and includes adds and several stages of the boss fight itself.
Update 5.10.1 is called “The Wretched Hive”. This is how BioWare describes it:
The Sith Empire’s ruthless assault on the Jedi colony on Ossus began with Darth Malora, who created her own breed of mutated Geonosian warriors to use as shock troops for the attack.
But before she created her insectoid army, Malora first had to create their master and originator. Left unguarded and unsupervised, this mutated Geonosian Queen is now unleashing countless waves of her monstrous spawn to dominate the planet’s surface!
Gather your most skilled and reliable friends to face this deadly challenge, acquire powerful new Masterwork weapons, and more!
The Mutated Geonosian queen can be found in the “Hive of the Mountain Queen” lair, which is under the giant Jedi statues on Ossus. Rewards from the boss include the newly released Masterwork (tier 5) weapons. You can can craft those using resources gathered on Ossus and from the Geonosian Queen itself.
A new weekly quest will allow you to earn Monumental Data Crystals by defeating the Queen on Veteran Mode or by earning Solo Ranked Arena points.
BioWare already announced the end of Season 10 and the rewards for the top PvPers. Now we know the exact date as well – February 12. Starting with the end of this season, the devs will start bringing back old Seasonal rewards, available for purchase through Ranked tokens. These items will be clearly marked as replicas to allow players, who have earned them from the actual season, to keep their pride and feel of an epic achievement.
Also starting with this update Ranked tokens will no longer be specific to a season. They will not expire any more and can be used to purchase any available rewards from the vendors.
