SWTOR Rakghoul Resurgence Event Guide and Rewards Catalog

Siow by Siow|

This is a guide to the SWTOR Rakghoul Resurgence Event and its missions. It shows you how to start the Rakghoul Event quest line, how to pick up and complete all Daily and Weekly Missions, and the recommended order to complete the Rakghoul Missions efficiently!

In September2025, the event will run from 16th to 22nd.

What is the Rakghoul Resurgence Event

The Rakghoul Resurgence is a recurring in-game event in SWTOR. It lasts for a week and happens on average once every two months. The event happens on Tatooine, Alderaan or Corelia.

Every so often, one of three planets will experience a Rakghoul Plague outbreak. This will make these planets dangerous to traverse as rakghouls will occasionally spawn and attack players. This can happen on either Alderaan, Corellia, or Tatooine. The player must aid the THORN agency to contain the outbreak by performing event missions.

It is possible to become infected with the Rakghoul Virus yourself. If this progresses too far, you will explode and perish. This explosion will spread the virus to any other players nearby. Due to this, the fleet becomes particularly hazardous to be in due to the mass amount of people spreading the virus.

Take some time to visit a medical droid to purchase some Rakghoul Vaccines to gain temporary immunity to the virus. These medical droids can be found on the fleet or at the rakghoul event areas.

How To Start the Rakghoul Event

To get to the event area, you’ll need to travel underground through The Spike. From there, the same Rakghoul Event zone is used for all three planets.

To start the questline, you’ll need to be on the fleet. Near the lateral elevators of the fleet, you’ll find a floating news terminal, interact with it to start a cutscene.

How To Start the Rakghoul Event - find the terminals on the Fleet
The News Terminal

You’ll see a cutscene of a news anchor conducting an interview with Addalar Hyland, CEO of The Hyland Organization for Rakghoul Neutralization (T.H.O.R.N.). Hyland forgoes the interview questions to ask for help from the viewers. Once the cutscene is finished, you’ll have your first quest, “To Fight Infection for Republic” and “Combatting the Plague” for Imperials.

Whether you’re going to Alderaan, Corellia, or Tatooine, the goal will be the same for either faction’s quest. You will need to reach a THORN camp near the spaceport you exit from and talk to an NPC there. After talking to them, you can take a speeder at the camp that will take you to The Spike. Enter the elevator with a hologram of your faction’s emblem and go underground.

You’ll appear at Crisis Command if you’re with the Republic or the Operations Hub if you’re with the Empire. You’ll want to talk to an NPC nearby to complete the mission.

Rakghoul Event Missions

Many of the missions available during the Rakghoul event are available to both the Republic and Empire, though each have different mission names. While there some some faction-specific missions during the Rakghoul event, the shared missions will be shown here.

Mission Terminal Locations

For Republic players, the terminal that holds the bulk of the Rakghoul Event missions is located at Crisis Command near the large terminal where you talked to the THORN Crisis Specialist. Meanwhile, the terminals for Empire players can be found at the Operations Hub.

SWTOR Rakghroul Resurgence Mission Terminal Locations

The terminal in the middle offers the bulk of the missions for the Rakghoul Event. A datapad grants the Quarantine mission while the large terminal to the right grants the Operation mission.

Defeat Rakghouls and Scan Skeletal Remains

This is the “[DAILY] A Grim Examination” mission for Republic players and the “[DAILY] All That Remains” mission for Imperial players. This mission will take place in the Infested Pathways where you’ll need to scan 5 collections of skeletal remains and defeat 25 rakghouls.

Red dots show Skeletal Remains locations.
Skeletal Remains

Once you do scan the remains and defeat the rakghouls, the mission will be complete and grant you a Green Reputation item.

Scan 5 Navigational Beacons

This is the “[DAILY] Navigating the Tunnels” mission for Republic players and the “DAILY] The Tunnel Network” mission for Imperial players. In this mission, you’ll just need to use the macrobinoculars given to you with the quest to scan the Navigational Beacons found in the Contagion Zone and Infested Pathways.

They are very easy to find as the beacons are found on the ceiling and have spinning bits, making them that much easier to spot. Use the macrobinoculars and left click on the beacons to scan them.

It’s important to note that these beacons can sometimes experience a bug where they’ll be out of sight due to them clipping beyond the ceiling.

Use the macrobinoculars to look for the signal waves emanating from the ceiling to find these sneaky beacons if you have trouble finding one. You’ll still be able to scan them to finish the mission.

A buggy beacon.

Gather Racklings

This is the “[DAILY] Rounding Up Racklings” mission for Republic players and the “DAILY] Collecting Racklings” mission for Imperial players.

This is an easy mission, you just need to find 3 Fungal Flora in the mission area with a pheromone catalyzer. This will attract Raklings that will begin to follow you around, take them back to Crisis Command to the Specimen Container. Right click the Specimen Container to complete the quest!

Collect Mutagen Samples

This is the “[DAILY] Tracking the Plague” mission for Republic players and the “[DAILY] Dissecting the Plague” mission for Imperial players. This is your typical “Defeat enemies to pick up X mission item” sort of mission. If you see any hostile NPCs with the word “Infected” in their name, then you’ll need to defeat them to pick up Mutagen Samples. Collect 10 Mutagen Samples to complete the mission.

"[DAILY] Tracking the Plague" mission for Republic players and the "[DAILY] Dissecting the Plague" mission for Imperial players - Collect Mutagen Samples

Fungal Rakghouls

This is the “[HEROIC 4] Flora and Fauna” mission for Republic players and the “HEROIC 4] Fungal Corruption” mission for Imperial players. This is one of the Heroic missions where you actually do need multiple people to complete it efficiently. Go to The Epicenter portion of the Rakghouls Tunnels to complete this mission.

"[HEROIC 4] Flora and Fauna" mission for Republic players and the [HEROIC 4] Fungal Corruption" mission for Imperial players - Fungal Rakghouls

You’ll need to defeat 20 Fungal Rakghouls and collect 3 Fungal Samples. The former is the easier part to accomplish. Be careful though as Fungal Rakghouls knock down their primary target, so a designated tank is good here so the DPS don’t get knocked down.

As for the Fungal Samples, you’ll find them on the ground but after interacting with them, you’ll encounter a Rakghoul Blight. These enemies are very tough and while you could play a tank spec with a healer companion to take them down, it will take you a long time to do so. It’s a standard tank and spank encounter, some DPS party members will help make short work of them. After defeating them, you can pick up a Fungal Sample.

If you don’t have anyone to turn to for help, go into the PvE Instance and find people fighting Rakghoul Blights. Regardless of what faction they’re in or if they’re in your party or not, attacking the Blight will let you loot it for the Fungal Sample when it is defeated.

[OPS] The Rakghoul Nightmare: The Eyeless Boss Guide

In order to gain access to this quest, you’ll need to access the large Holoterminal by purchasing and using a [THORN Priority Authorization] from one of the THORN vendors. This item is 1,000 credits so being able to afford it shouldn’t be an issue.

As an OPs mission, you’ll need a group of 8 or 16 to complete this mission. You can complete this once per event on a character, so repeat this with alts to gain more Blue Reputation items and event currency. The goal of this mission is to defeat the rakghoul called “The Eyeless”.

[OPS] The Rakghoul Nightmare mission description

Go to the Southeast corner of the Infested Pathways to find the Lair of the Eyeless. You’ll need to enter a phased area to partake in the mission. Have your group prepare outside and sort out what to do. Don’t be worried though, this is actually a very easy boss fight.

[OPS] The Rakghoul Nightmare - entrance location

When your team is ready, walk into the phased area. Don’t start the boss fight but instead, stick to the walls and go around the room and defeat the rakghoul maulers one group at a time. This won’t aggro the Eyeless and clearing these rakghouls out will make the boss fight easier.

Once the rakghoul maulers are defeated, you can take on the boss. This is a simple tank-and-spank boss fight. The only mechanic you need to be aware of is that there are two Area of Effect abilities.

If you see a green spot on the ground, just walk out of the area to avoid damage. There will also be a purple area around the boss on occasion, if you’re a melee DPS don’t get into this area. Only the tank should take damage from the purple area of effect.

Occasionally small rakghouls will show up, DPS should take them out so they don’t slowly overwhelm the Ops group. You can circumvent this by having two tanks taking turns to taunt The Eyeless and keep it moving. So long as it’s moving, it cannot summon these small rakghouls.

Upon defeating The Eyeless, you’ll get a Blue Reputation Item and a Rakghoul DNA Canister that you can use for event-exclusive vendors!

Jeelvic’s Datapad

Once per event, a character can acquire the quest “Jeelvic’s Datapad”. This mission can be acquired by interacting with a Datapad found in the Contagion Zone.

The goal of this mission is to locate Jeelvic. Jeelvic is a Jawa vendor that can be found wandering around The Epicenter. Once you find and interact with Jeelvic, the quest will be complete and you can then purchase Rakghoul Event specific color crystals, decorations, mount customizations, and pets.

The Infected Varactyl and Infected Dewback mounts that Jeelvic sells require unique items only available during the Rakghoul Event.

Symbiotic Fungal Bloom
These are a rare drop from yellow Fungus enemies that appear in the rakghoul tunnels. They can also drop from the rarer Catalyst enemies. You’ll need 9 of these to get both mounts.

Exotic Plague Specimen
This drops from the Rakghoul Event World Bosses. You are not able to trade this item so if you want one, you’ll need to select “Need” on the loot rolls. You only need 3 of these to get both the mounts.

Barnacle of the Eyeless
This only drops after defeating the Eyeless operations boss. These are tradable so if you know anyone with spares willing to give or sell them to you, you should do so! You’ll need 3 to get both the mounts but it might be useful to have a 4th barnacle to give to Dr. Lokin during his Alliance Alert mission. This can grant you an achievement and greatly increase his Influence level.

Republic Missions

[DAILY] Quarantine: Anchorhead

This is a Republic-specific mission that takes place on Tatooine and is only available when the Rakghoul Resurgence is on Tatooine as well.

You can pick up this quest in either the Crisis Command zone or at the THORN Camp on the surface in your local town. For this quest, all you have to do is inoculate 5 infected citizens.

Sounds simple enough, though you will encounter rakghoul plaguebearers that pop out of the ground when you’re traveling. Defeat them or run away from them should they appear.

[DAILY] Quarantine: Anchorhead
Green Dots show Infected Citizen locations.

Simply walk up to a citizen and use the Rakghoul Inoculation item found in your Mission Items tab within your inventory. Once you have done that, you can turn in the quest at the THORN Anchorhead Camp.

[DAILY] Quarantine: House Organa

This mission is unique to Alderaan when a Rakghoul outbreak occurs there. For this mission, you’ll just need to inoculate 5 infected Citizens or Soldiers. Walk up to them then use the Inoculation Key Item on them to cure them.

[DAILY] Quarantine: House Organa
Green Dots show Infected Citizens and Soldier locations.

[DAILY] Quarantine: Blastfield Shipyards

You’ll be able to find infected soldiers and citizens near or inside the Shipwright Auxilliary Spaceport on Corellia. I would recommend going for infected people inside as they’re less spread out and you can more quickly complete the quest here.

Imperial Missions

[DAILY] Quarantine: Mos Ila

This is an Empire-specific mission that takes place on Tatooine only when the event is also happening on Tatooine.

You can pick up this quest in either the Crisis Command zone or at the THORN Camp on the surface in your local town. For this quest, all you have to do is inoculate 5 infected citizens.

You will encounter rakghoul plaguebearers that pop out of the ground when you’re traveling. Defeat them or run away from them should they appear.

Simply walk up to a citizen and use the Rakghoul Inoculation item found in your Mission Items tab within your inventory. Once you have done that, you can turn in the quest at the THORN Anchorhead Camp.

[DAILY] Quarantine: House Thul

This mission is unique to Alderaan when a Rakghoul outbreak occurs there. For this mission, you’ll just need to inoculate 5 infected Citizens or Soldiers. Walk up to them then use the Inoculation Key Item on them to cure them.

[DAILY] Quarantine: House Thul

[DAILY] Quarantine: Incorporation Islands

You’ll find a good chunk of infected people to inoculate either right outside or inside the Coronet Spaceport on Corellia. Take your pick of whether you’d like to inoculate the people inside or outside.

The Rakghoul Resurgence missions are very simple to do in a quick and concise manner. The only outlier is the Quarantine missions though those are simple enough to complete. Follow this order for a quick sweep of the Rakghoul Resurgence missions:

  1. Report to your faction’s THORN Camp on the surface to complete the Quarantine Mission. There will be a datapad on the table that will grant you the mission.
  2. Take the speeder bike from the T.H.O.R.N. camp and go to The Spike. Go down the Spike and into the camp in the tunnels below. When you’re there, pick up all the daily missions.
  3. Head east of your camp to complete Rounding Up Raklings (Republic)/Collecting Raklings (Empire).
  4. Collect 10 Mutagen Samples for Tracking the Plague (Republic)/Dissecting the Plague (Empire).
  5. Scan the Navigation Beacons in the Contagion Zone. Head east into the Infested Pathways.
  6. Continue to scan the Navigation Beacons in the Infested Pathways. Meanwhile, also scan 5 Skeletal Remains and defeat 25 Rakghouls while here.
  7. Head east into The Epicenter to recover 3 Fungal Samples and defeat 20 Fungal Rakghouls. This area is particularly dangerous so you should try to bring at least one friend to help you out here. You can also help random players you run into defeat rakghouls here as damaging them will grant you access to the loot as well.
  8. Once you have completed the Daily missions, you can try your hand at defeating The Eyeless. There are plenty of groups looking for more people to defeat The Eyeless during the event so it shouldn’t be hard to find one.

Dr. Lokin Guide

Players who have completed Chapter IX of Knights of the Fallen Empire will have the opportunity to recruit Dr. Lokin as a companion. Look for the “Kindly Old Monster” alert in the alliance menu to begin the mission to recruit Dr. Lokin.

Make sure you have already recruited Yuun (To Find a Findsman mission) so you can gain access to this alert.

You can find Dr. Lokin at his home on Alderaan where he will be conducting research on rakghouls. He’ll be in the King’s Pass area just south of the House Trader’s Circle.

You’ll need to speak to Lokin and defeat some Enraged Raklings. Speak to Dr. Lokin again and agree to bring him supplies. You’ll need enough supplies to raise his Influence to level 10 before you can proceed.

There are 4 items you can give Dr. Lokin to increase his Influence level:

Anodyne Extract Anodyne Extract
Metamorphic Cell Culture Metamorphic Cell Cultures
Hemostatic Gel Hemostatic Gel
Autoimmune Regulator Autoimmune Regulator

During the Rakghoul Event, you can actually give him an item that raises his Influence significantly. This is the Barnacle of the Eyeless which can drop after defeating The Eyeless in the Rakghoul Nightmare Ops mission. Doing this will also grant you an achievement as well.

After raising his influence level, you’ll need to deploy probes at 4 sites during a Rakghoul Event, return to Lokin then use the probe at the Sarlacc Pit. Collect the Recovered Specimen and return to Lokin.

Go to the Alliance Base and speak to Doctor Oggurobb then General Aygo. This will complete the mission and you will have Dr. Lokin as a companion.

Dr. Lokin on Alderaan

Dr. Lokin is actually the preferred companion by many to act as a tank. He has a great leap ability that will let him close the gap between him and his target while gaining quick aggro. If you’re looking for a solid tank companion, you’ll want to go with Dr. Lokin!

World Bosses during the event

During the Rakghoul Event, a World Boss will appear for the duration of the event. The exact type of World Boss that appears depends on the planet that the event is currently on.

These bosses offer simple tank and spank fights that require an Ops group to defeat. Once defeated, they’ll drop materials needed to obtain mounts from Jeelvic and they’ll occasionally drop rare pets. You will find everything you need to know about the event vendors further down in this guide.

Alderaan – Shellshock

Shellshock is a large shaclaw that has been infected by the rakghoul plague. You’ll be able to find it in the northwest of the King’s Pass map. It’s easy enough to get to from the Spike as you just head northwest from the Spike. Shellshock can drop the Plagueshard Lylek pet when defeated.

Corellia – Toxxun

Toxxun is an infected narvaxx that likely escaped from a local zoo. It can be found in the southeast corner of the Axial Park map just east of the Imperial Garrison. Toxxun can drop the Plaguetooth Sleen pet when defeated.

Tatooine – Plaguehorn

Plaguehorn is an infected reek that can be found in the Jundland Wastes map. Head northwest of Outpost Largona and you’ll find it near a homestead. Plaguehorn can drop the Plaguehorn Reek pet when defeated.

Achievements

Along with mundane achievements such as defeating a certain number of enemies, completing missions, or taking part in PvP, there are several unique achievements that you can gain during the Rakghoul Event.

Hey, I’m a Fungi

To gain this achievement, you’ll need to find and defeat all of the fungus rakghouls, defeat 5 of all the special yellow Fungus enemies, and defeat the Catalyst.

The fungus rakghouls are neutral and will only attack if you attack them first. You’ll find them throughout the Rakghoul Tunnels as seen in the maps below.
