How to Start the Flashpoint and its Story
Legacy of the Rakata takes place during the events of the Forged Alliances expansion, and after the events of the Depths of Manaan flashpoint. To access this storyline, you would need to have completed your class story and Rise of the Hutt Cartel.
Working with Theron Shan, Lana Beniko, and a smuggler named Jakarro with his droid head, you’ve learned that the Revanites are making a cyborg army. You have traced them down to the Rakatan homeworld, Rakata Prime. You must now head into the planet and figure out what Colonel Darok and Darth Arkous are planning with the cyborg army.
To start the Legacy of the Rakata Flashpoint without the story arc, you can find the NPC that gives the quests in the Outbound Missions Hangar. Starting at your faction’s fleet, go to the Mission Departures elevator and select Outbound Missions Hangar. Legacy of the Rakata will be the middle room to the south.
This flashpoint is also available in the Activity Finder under the Group tab. It’s available for Veteran and Master Mode, but you can find a Solo version in the Solo tab. The Solo version offers a guaranteed decoration drop from the flashpoint should you complete it.
Read our SWTOR Story Progression Guide to learn where this story fits in. The guide will help you experience the game’s narrative in the proper intended order of events and aid and assist you if you are not sure what to do and where to go next.
Bonus Mission: Reclaiming Rakata Prime
The bonus mission is only available on Master Mode.
This bonus mission is very straightforward, you just need to defeat 65 hostiles on Rakata Prime. If it has a red nameplate, defeat it so you can complete this bonus mission to unlock the bonus boss.
Shortcuts
These shortcuts act as paths of least resistance. If you’re not looking to complete the bonus mission on Master Mode, you can follow these paths to avoid any unnecessary fights as you make your way to the first boss. After the first boss, it’ll be nearly impossible to avoid fights due to upcoming objectives and bottlenecking.
You’re going to run into groups of Rakata sooner or later, if you’re on Veteran or Master Modes then you’ll need to focus the Rakata Savage Mystics first. They can heal their allies which can prolong battles. Be sure to stun them or interrupt them while they cast their healing abilities, especially Benevolence.
First Boss: War Chief Rehkta
You’re going to find an arena with a large rancor inside. Make sure everyone is inside the area as the exits will be blocked off once the battle starts. For the first portion of the fight, you’ll only fight the Savage War Beast (the rancor), and War Chief Rehkta will join the fight later on.
In Story Mode, each boss has the same amount of hit points, so you’re free to take down either one first. Given how Rehkta can make fire AoEs, he should be your first priority. If this is a group setting, the tank should lure the rancor to one of the walls. The rancor has two red AoEs, a Left-Handed Swipe and a Right-Handed Swipe.
Both of these AoEs will push back anyone caught between the rancor and its target, so DPS and healers should stay out of them. The difference between the two attacks is that the Left-Handed Swipe is centered around the rancor, while the Right-Handed Swipe is centered on it’s target (which should be the tank).
While the tank can bring the rancor to a wall to shorten any knockbacks, it will also flip its target over its back and place them into the open. The tank should be mindful of this and immediately run to another wall. Everyone should watch out when the rancor takes a pause, this means it’ll slam into the ground knocking everyone nearby into the air.
Rehkta cannot be taunted, so he’ll attack random targets and place fire AoEs beneath them. It should go without saying that you should step out of the fire. Fortunately, they won’t do too much damage if any in Story Mode.
Defeat Rehkta first so the remainder of the fight becomes a tank-and-spank with the rancor. With Rehkta gone, there’ll also no longer be any fire AoEs littered throughout the arena.
Veteran Mode Differences
The rancor now has more hit points than Rehkta, they are both tougher, and the fire AoEs deal more damage. Now that Rehkta has less HP than the rancor, this only solidifies him as your primary target.
Master Mode Differences
Rehkta has a new trick up his sleeve, and it’s a rather annoying one at that. Every time he places a fire AoE on a target, he’ll also immobilize them with the Hunting Trap debuff. If you’re affected by the Hunting Trap, you’ll be unable to move as you’re caught in the fire.
Use your CC breaker or a DCD that can remove immobilizing effects. Alternatively, a healer can use a cleanse to remove the debuff. Break the immobilize as soon as you can as the fire is actually a threat in Master Mode. Aside from that, focus Rehkta first then the rancor.
Bonus Boss: Infinite Army Prototype
This boss is only available in Master Mode.
The Infinite Army Prototype can be found north of where you fight Commander Rand. He will only appear if you’ve completed the previous bonus mission. You’ll find a small garden plot with what looks like space corn growing in the area. Inside a hollow structure, you’ll find the Infinite Army Prototype.
This boss fight is very simple as there are only two mechanics to be aware of. Due to the low amount of mechanics, the trade-off is that he’ll be one heck of a damage sponge with 10 million hit points. During the fight, he’ll begin to charge an ability called Unstable Barrier. When activated, a shield will appear around him and for 10 seconds he’ll deal Tech damage to everyone within 30 meters.
You have two options here, you can huddle up and pop DCDs and AoE heals, or you can step outside. Be warned that should you step onto the ground, you’ll summon Field Scavenger adds. These womp rats aren’t particularly dangerous, but excess damage from numerous adds is never favorable. That’s it, those are the two mechanics on top of a tank and spank.
Second Boss: Commander Rand
In Story Mode, Commander Rand will be accompanied by 6 adds, his Infinite Army Legionnaires. When the fight starts, Rand will hover in the air and become immune to damage for 45 seconds.
Defeat the adds and be mindful of one receiving a temporary buff, it’s easy to tell which one as he’ll increase in size. When buffed, an add will deal increased damage but have reduced movement speed. Stay out of red circles on the ground as Rand will be firing missiles at these spots.
Once the adds are defeated or when the 45 seconds are up, Rand will land and attack for a while. He’ll use a kick against his target that’ll knock them back. If you see a red rectangle on the ground, you should get out as he’ll fire two wide blaster bolts in this area.
After a while, Commander Rand will hover again and summon 6 more adds. Defeat the adds and repeat the process until Commander Rand is defeated. In time, he’ll run out of reinforcements and he’ll stop hovering.
Veteran Mode Differences
Commander Rand will start with 12 adds accompanying him at the start of the battle, and every time he summons more adds he’ll summon 12 instead of 6. It’s still the same fight, just slightly tougher than Story Mode.
Master Mode Differences
There are no mechanical differences in Master Mode when compared to Veteran Mode, but the adds will hurt a lot more so be prepared to use all your damaging AoEs quickly.
Light and Dark Side Choice: The Cyborgs
When you’re making your way to the final boss, you’ll enter a cutscene where Theron will warn you about cyborgs on the other side of the door. He can hack the console to overload it and destroy the cyborgs. You have the following options:
- “That’s not how I operate” will keep the cyborgs alive and grant you 150 Light Side Points.
- “Good Thinking” will have Theron overload the consoles and grant you 150 Dark Side Points.
If you’re looking to get through this flashpoint quickly, choose “Good Thinking” as those cyborgs meet the same fate in either scenario. At least in this scenario, you save yourself a bit of time. Move forward and make your way to Colonel Darok and Darth Arkous.
Final Boss: Colonel Darok and Darth Arkous
Some things to note right off the bat, Colonel Darok will be untauntable while Darth Arkous can be taunted. If you have a designated tank, they should maintain aggro on Darth Arkous so the only one damaging the DPS and Healers is Colonel Darok.
This fight is very simple if somewhat annoying at times in Story Mode. Both Colonel Darok and Darth Arkous have a push and pull, so chances are someone will be flung around like a ragdoll (most likely the tank).
Whenever the two reposition into the center of the arena, that means Darth Arkous is about to use an Empowered Force Choke against his target. His target will be stunned for the duration of the effect while Colonel Darok uses a Full Auto Combo. After the combo is finished, he’ll fire a rocket at the choked target and knock them back.
If Colonel Darok grapples you, you’ll receive the Impaled debuff. Do not worry about this as this does nothing in Story or Veteran Modes. Whenever either Colonel Darok or Darth Arkous are defeated, the survivor will become enraged and deal more damage. It’s generally good practice to keep the two around the same health percentage and defeat Colonel Darok first then finish off Darth Arkous. Once defeated, use the nearby computer terminal to complete the flashpoint.
Veteran Mode Differences
There are no mechanical differences in Veteran Mode, the two bosses are just tougher to fight. Be mindful of enraged damage when you defeat one of the bosses.
Master Mode Differences
The two bosses are now damage sponges and are beefier than ever, and Colonel Darok has a new mechanic. If you recall the Impale debuff that applies when he grapples a target, it’ll now place a blue circle around impaled targets. Should two impaled targets intersect their blue circles, they’ll end up dealing damage to one another.
This effect can be annoying if you have two or more melee players sharing the same space while impaled. Because of this new debuff, you should focus on Colonel Darok first so the remainder of the fight with Darth Arkous lacks these AoEs.
