Path of Exile 2 Stash Tabs Explained

RubyRose by RubyRose|

Stash Tabs can drastically improve the experience of playing Path of Exile 2. This guide will cover everything you need to know about Stash Tabs so you can get the most out of them.

What are Stash Tabs

Your Stash is the game’s way of allowing yo to store Items, Currency, and other useful items or transfer them between our characters within a given League. Stash Tabs themselves are individual sections within the Stash that you can organize how you wish.

Every player automatically starts with four Basic Stash Tabs to use, which offer very little in terms of value beyond just having a place to store our items. They work well enough, but there are a wide variety of stash tabs that compliment existing gameplay mechanics making them far easier to sort though, or even offer expanded storage for related items.

Many of the Premium Stash Tabs covered in this also offer Stash Tab Affinity, an additional option that will make any matching items we deposit with Control-Click immediately go to that tab without any further input.

This is a huge quality of life when it comes to quickly sorting out drops and is very much worth taking advantage of when possible. All Premium Stash Tab have Access to this, not just the specific ones. Below is a quick table show what each affinity will allocate to a tab when selected.

How to Get Stash Tabs

Stash Tabs are unfortunately a Microtransaction (MTX). This means you’ll need to spend real money to get them. However, playing during Early Access means that unless a key was gifted to us, we already have 300 of their MTX currency to use.

While being an MTX may put plenty of people off from ever getting them, there are a couple Stash Tabs I’d argue are very good to have if you plan to play the game long-term. However, regardless of how much you need or want them, ALWAYS get Stash Tabs when they are on Sale. Unless we missed a recent sale when we started, we often won’t need to wait too long, as a Stash Tab Sale occurs every 3 weeks.

These can be purchased in-game, by opening the MTX shop and navigating to the section for Stash Tabs. This is the more convenient option, as getting them as you need them is fairly good.

They can also be purchased by visiting the MTX Shop on the Official Site. However, this can be less convenient as this page also lists tabs that are not yet available or used in Path of Exile 2. So be extra careful when using the site version of the store.

What Stash Tabs Are Available

Currently, Path of Exile 2 has ten variations of Stash Tabs available for purchase. These are as follows: Basic, Premium, Quad, Currency, Delirium, Essence, Flask, Gem, Map, and Unique Collection. Each of these has a purpose and we’ll cover what each one does below.

Basic Stash Tab

Basic Stash tabs are the same as the four we start with. Each holds 144 inventory slots worth of Items of any kind. They’re good as a starting catch-all solution, but every other type of Stash Tab is just better in many ways.

These do however have the unique advantage of being the cheapest at 30 Points each, or roughly 3 USD. Additionally, they’re available in a bundle of six for 150 points, offering a slight discount for the bulk. This makes them a cheap solution if you don’t want to spend too much.

Premium Stash Tab

Premium Stash Tabs are similar in size to the Basic Stash Tabs, but come with additional features to them that make them incredibly useful. This includes being able to change their Name and Color, as well as set them as Public Stash Tabs.

Setting a Stash Tab as Public, which all Stash Tabs besides Basic Stash Tabs can do, allows you to set prices on items individually or apply the same price to all items in a Stash Tab.

If you want to learn more about Trading, check out our Path of Exile 2 Trading Guide. This covers all the Trade Features in general as well as goes into more detail on how setting prices on Public Stash Tabs work.

Premium Stash Tabs cost slightly more, at 40 Points each but make great Stash Tabs for Trading. Similarly to Basic Tabs, they’re also offered in a bundle of six, but for 200 points instead.

Additionally, for just 15 Points A Basic Stash Tab can be upgraded to a Premium Stash Tab. This makes it a cheaper way to sell things, though a Merchant’s Tab is more effective.

Quad Stash Tab

A Quad Stash Tab, as the name would suggest is a Larger tab that holds 576 slots worth of items, or quadruple that of a Basic or Premium Tab. These have all the same features as a Premium Stash Tab as well, which makes them great bulk storage or a sell tab for larger items.

These cost a whopping 150 Points, but this still means they’re slightly cheaper compared to buying 4 Premium Stash Tabs.

Abyss Stash Tab

The Abyss Stash Tab holds up to 5,000 of every Desecrated Bone, Abyss Omen, as well as Kulemak’s Invitations.

This costs 40 Points, in line with most other mechanic-specific tabs. You’ll only ever need one of these as well. It’s debatable whether or not it’s worth the cost, as the Currency Tab’s overflow section can handle the bulk of these items.

Augments Stash Tab

The Augments Stash Tab holds up to 5,000 of every type of Basic Rune, Kalguuran Rune, Soul Core, Idol, and Ancient Augments. Additionally, it has a function that allows us to enter an Upgrade Mode, allowing us to make the 3:1 upgrade of Runes, which previously required the Reforging Bench.

This costs just 50 Points, slightly more than a typical Stash Tab, with its being selling point being that upgrade function for Runes. It’s also handy for endgame farming of the Trial of Chaos without Soul Cores taking over another Stash Tab.

Breach Stash Tab

The Breach Stash Tab holds up to 5,000 Breach Splinters, Breach Stones, Breachlord Sacs, and every Catalyst type. Additionally, it provides space for 500+ of each type of Wombgift.

With Breach being one of the easiest and earliest endgame activities to interact with, the Breach Tab is a must have. Wombgifts in particular tend to pile up very quickly and if you have limited stash space, it helps a lot.

The Breach Stash Tab costs just 40 points, and it’s well worth it. There’s no need for multiple, as you’d only be getting more storage for Wombgifts.

Currency Stash Tab

Currency Stash Tabs hold up to 5,000 of every primary currency in the game, with a handful of extra slots that can be used for Currencies that don’t currently have other Stash Tabs to hold them.

These extra slots can hold most other currencies, below is a list of recommended items to put there, if you don’t have the corresponding Stash Tab or one doesn’t exist for them.

  1. Abyss Omens and Bones
  2. Vaal Temple Currencies
  3. Common Runes
  4. Verisium and Flux
  5. Common Essences
  6. Common Liquid Emotions

The Currency Stash Tabs cost a modest 75 Points. There’s no real advantage to having multiple of these tabs, making it a one-and-done.

Delirium Stash Tab

The Delirium Stash Tab holds up to 5,000 of each Distilled Emotion from the Delirium mechanic in the Endgame. It can also hold up to 28 Maps that have been instilled with Distilled Emotions as well as Simulacrum Splinters and full Simulacrums.

Normally, this style of Stash Tab also offers a faster alternative to performing the same 3-to-1 action of the Reforging Bench for upgrading. However, it does not do so in its current iteration.

A Delirium Stash Tab only costs 40 Points. It can be good to have for its relatively low cost, particularly if you find Delirium an enjoyable mechanic.

Essence Stash Tab

An Essence Stash Tab holds up to 5,000 of each variety of each Basic and Greater Essence. Additionally, it has one slot to hold any piece of armor or gear and four overflow slots for essences, should we hit the cap.

With a cost of just 40 Points, it’s in line with most other single-mechanic Stash Tabs.

Expedition Stash Tab

The Expedition Stash Tab can hold over 9,000 Verisium, as well as 5,000 of each Alloy, Logbook, and Triskelion Piece.

This tab is particularly great if you’re focusing on Expedition, as it allows you to easily store all the Verisium and Alloys you find. It’s still helpful for those items in the Runes of Aldur League, as they’ll build up even without focusing on the mechanic.

With a cost of 40 Points, it’s in line with other Single-League Stash Tabs. Like other tabs there’s no reason for multiple.

Flask Stash Tab

A Flask Stash Tab holds up to 500 Flasks and Charms of any type. Compared to Path of Exile 1, which has multiple Utility Flasks and a wider variety of useful rolls that could potentially make use of this space, Path of Exile 2 has traded these out for Charms, which cannot be stored here remove much of the value this could have.

While it costs only 40 Points, it’s not something we’d recommend getting unless you have plans to also play Path of Exile 1 where there is a larger variety of flasks.

Fragment Stash Tab

The Fragment Stash Tab hold up to 5,000 of each Boss Key and Boss Key Fragment. Additionally it holds over 500 of each Precursor Tablet and Trial Key.

This is a must have in the endgame just for the Trial Key and Precursor Tablet storage and sorting. The other functions are nice too if you don’t have the Breach, Delirium, Expedition, and Ritual Tabs.

This wide range of storage does come at a price of 75 Points, making it about twice the cost of the

Gem Stash Tab

The Gem Stash Tab holds up to 500 Gems, regardless if they are Cut or Uncut. This saves a significant amount of space over normal tabs and can even allow for quicker and easier searching through the few preset filters.

At a cost of just 40 Points, this can be worth the time for those planning to play multiple characters in most Leagues.

Ritual Stash Tab

The Ritual Stash Tab holds up to 5,000 of each Omen that can be obtained from Rituals. Additionally, it can hold up to 5,000 Audience with the King, the key to accessing the Pinnacle Boss for Ritual.

This costs just 40 Points, like similar Stash Tabs that pertain to a single activity. It’s not strictly necessary unless we want to focus on this particular activity in the endgame, where its will see more use.

Unique Collection Stash Tab

The Unique Collection Stash Tab holds one copy of every Unique Item in the game. It includes a dropdown to adjust what is shown and a Size Slider that can make the displayed items larger or smaller.

It’s on the pricey side at 140 Points, but unsure when a new unique drops we’ll always have a place for it.

Waystone Stash Tab

The Map Stash Tab holds up to 576 of each tier of Waystone for Endgame Mapping content. That’s a Quad Stash Tab for every tier, but ensures you’ll never run out of space for Waystones. Sadly, it doesn’t hold Precursor Tablets, so it’s best paired with the Fragment Stash Tab.

This costs a whopping 150 Points but easily becomes one of the most useful and necessary Stash Tabs for Endgame, which we’ll into shortly.

What Stash Tabs Are Best to Buy

Now that you know what each Stash Tab offers, which are the best to purchase? While this was partially covered in the sections above, we’ll provide a couple common price points as a reference how to to best spend a limited amount of points.

300 Point Limit

For the sake of simplicity, let’s assume you just bought an Early Access Key, which comes with 300 Points to spend and you want to only spend it on Stash Tabs. Which ones should you be prioritizing as a new player?

Well first things first, Is a Stash Tab Sale currently running? If not, it’s best to wait until one is. As stated before, these run roughly every 3rd week, over the weekend. It may not seem like much, but it will make your Points go a lot further. Getting 25%+ discounts on any tab is a great help and allows you to get more Stash Tabs. As such, the example below will only be using sale prices.

That note aside, where to stat start? Without question, a Currency Stash Tab is easily the most practical Stash Tab to get first. This will set us back 60 Points. Having a Stash Tab that we can freely toss all of our currency in without it causing clutter and reducing space for other items is massively helpful. This leaves you with 240 Points.

The next Priority is the Merchant’s Tab, which facilitates easier trading in endgame. One is sufficient unless you find yourself heavily. For just 30 Points, it’s a steal and cheaper than the previous suggestion of upgrading the 4 default tabs. So you have 210 points left.

Next up is a Map Stash Tab, costing a whopping 120 Points. This will eat a lot of our remaining Points but will save you a lot of hassle and headaches in the endgame. While Waystones will be less common to start, they can quickly build up and take over multiple tabs on their own. This also has the added benefit of keeping everything organized. Now we have 90 Points left.

With 90 Points remaining, it’s strongly suggested to pick up a Fragment Stash Tab for 60 Points. This rounds out the useful endgame tabs, specifically for Precursor Tablets and Trial Keys, as they can also build up quickly at endgame if hoarding them, and you will be hoarding tablets.

With the Remaining 30, the Essence Stash Tab is the next best option to conserve space in your normal tabs. The Augment Stash Tab is a better option here, but sadly just outside of the limit by 10 points.

600 Point Limit

This limit assumes you have purchased an Early Access Key and a Supporter Pack, or Multiple Supporter Packs to obtain points.

To keep this suggestion nice and easy, just grab the Exile’s Stash Tab Bundle. This includes one of every specialized tab listed above, plus a Quad Stash Tab. This nets you everything you need for just over 400 Points on sale.

With the Remaining points, you’re free to buy cosmetics or additional stash tabs of your choice.

Tips for Using Stash Tabs

We’ll round out this guide with some extra tips to help navigate and get the most out of any Stash Tabs we have.

To get the most out of a single Gem Stash Tab, store only Uncut Gems at the ‘breakpoint’ levels for accessing new gems and only the highest Level Support Gems. For Skill Gems, there are Every Odd Level until 13; For Spirit Gem, these are Levels 4, 8, and 14. As for Supports, a Level 3 Uncut Support can be cut into any lower tier, so there’s no need to keep lower tiers.

To get the most out of a Currency Tab, here are our recommendations for currencies to place in the overflow slots.

If we opt out of the Socketable Stash Tab, we’ll slot Four Runes (Greater Iron, Desert, Glacial, and Storm) , the three most common Distilled Emotions (Ire, Guilt, and Greed), and the three most common Breach Catalysts (Flesh, Neural, and Adaptive). This would make the overflow look similar to the one shown below.

If we opt to grab a Socketable Tab over a Premium Tab, we can, however, drop the Runes in favor of other items. We recommend common Soul Cores, additional Distilled Emotions, or additional Breach Catalysts.

These are a mix of common and useful extra currencies that are great to hold on to. Iron Runes are often used in weapons, while the remaining three help fix resistances. Expedition currencies can build up quickly in the endgame, making them a great option to store here as well to reduce the space they take up. Lower-tier Emotions can be upgraded into higher tiers, but the bulk of them will drop as the three common tiers listed above. Catalysts can also build up quickly, so having a place to put a large quantity of common ones is great.

By pressing Ctrl+RMB on PC, or Holding Triangle or Y on Gamepad, we can bulk move Currency. This is great for claiming Currency from the Currency Exchange or quickly withdrawing currency for high-value trades.

Stash Tabs in Path of Exile support Regular Expressions (Regex). Play around with simply shortening Affixes down to help find what we might need on Rare Items. Searching “m Li” or “m En” (with quotation marks) will show anything that has a flat Maximum Life or Maximum Energy Shield roll or “resi” to find gear with any resistance as quick examples.

There are even community tools that can help generate more complex Regex that can be copy-pasted instead of doing it manually. Most notable, is poe2.re, a version of poe.re created just for Path of Exile 2. This has tools to help with Vendor searches or to help with finding or avoiding certain modifiers on Waystones.
