Path of Exile 2 Atlas Masters Explained

RubyRose by RubyRose|

Atlas Masters are designed to enhance your Endgame Atlas with various bonuses. Learn how to unlock each one, as well as what they offer to the endgame.

What are Atlas Masters

Upon completion of the campaign in Path of Exile 2, you’ll move into the Atlas. Once there, as you complete Waystones you’ll be able to unlock each of the three Atlas Master, who act as a pseudo-ascendancy for the endgame Atlas content.

Each of the Masters: Doryani, Hilda, and Jado, offer a variety of bonuses, but each have their specialties they focus on. These offer powerful ways to scale your rewards for completing waystones.

You will be able to unlock 4 Atlas Master Points for each Atlas Master, allowing you to pick any 4 of their 12 available bonuses to be active while you have them as your active Atlas Master.

Unlocking and Upgrading the Atlas Masters

Each of the three Atlas Masters has their own questline that unlock their skill points, with each consisting of four steps related to their overall theme and specialization.

How to unlock Doryani’s Science

To begin the Doryani’s Science questline, speak to him at the Ziggurat Refuge, rather, where you first access the Atlas.

Doryani’s questline will send you in pursuit of the Corrupted Nexuses across the Atlas.

To complete the Doryani’s Science questline, you’ll be asked to to perform the following tasks:

  1. Complete a Corrupted Nexus. (Minimum Waystone Tier 6)
  2. Complete a Corrupted Nexus. (Minimum Waystone Tier 11)
  3. Complete a Corrupted Nexus. (Minimum Waystone Tier 14)
  4. Defeat the Immured Fury. (Minimum Waystone Tier 15)

Each of the three Nexuses will award you one Atlas Master Point for Doryani, as well as unlock one row of Doryani’s Science upgrades. Defeating the Immured Fury will only award an Atlas Master Point.

Unfortunately, unlike the other Atlas Masters tend to do, you will not be pointed towards the next nearest Corrupted Nexus on completion. This often means that Doryani’s Science will be the last master you get all the points for in most cases.

How to unlock Hilda’s Hunting

To begin the Hilda’s Hunting questline, you’ll need to locate her at her camp just Southwest of the starting point on the Atlas.

Hilda’s Hunting will send you on the hunt for Great Beasts, turning a nearby Beast-type Map Boss into a Powerful Map Boss, marking the Map as a location with a Great Beast. Upon Completion, the next Great Beast will be revealed

To complete the Hilda’s Hunting questline, you’ll be asked to to perform the following tasks:

  1. Defeat a Great Beast. (Minimum Waystone Tier 6)
  2. Defeat a Great Beast. (Minimum Waystone Tier 11)
  3. Defeat a Great Beast. (Minimum Waystone Tier 14)
  4. Defeat a Great Beast. (Minimum Waystone Tier 15)

Each of the beast is chosen at Random, based on what maps are available. Some examples of what you might face during this quest are the endgame variants of The Devourer, The Chimera, The Mighty Silverback, and Crowbell, among other possible options.

Each of the Great Beasts slain will reward you with an Atlas Master Point as well as one row of Hilda’s Hunting upgrades.

How to unlock Jado’s Spycraft

To begin the Jado’s Spycraft questline, you’ll need to locate one of the four Anomaly Maps: The Jade Isles, Sealed Vault, Derelict Manor, or the Sealed Reservoir. Upon it’s completion, you’ll begin the Jado’s Spycraft questline and be given an Atlas Master Point for Jado.

In case you hadn’t already assumed so, the Jado’s Spycraft questline will task you to complete each of the four Anomaly Maps, with them being completable in any order you wish. As such the Objectives for the quests looks like this:

  1. Complete an Anomaly Map. (Minimum Waystone Tier 6)
  2. Complete an Anomaly Map. (Minimum Waystone Tier 6)
  3. Complete an Anomaly Map. (Minimum Waystone Tier 6)
  4. Complete an Anomaly Map. (Minimum Waystone Tier 6)

Currently, this questline is the only one that doesn’t follow the same rigid Waystone requirement. This is likely due to being able to be done in any order as well as requiring additional nearby maps to be completed to unlock Anomaly Map.

All four will spawn within a relatively short distance from the starting point of the Atlas. As each one is completed, the next closest of the remaining maps will be revealed.

  • The Jade Isles will be to the Southeast, near the Ruins of Kingsmarch.
  • Sealed Vault will be to the North, along the eastern wall of the Fortress.
  • The Derelict Manor will be found to the West of the Fortress, near Caer Tarth
  • The Sealed Reservoir will be found Northeast of the Fortress

With them spawning fairly close to the start of the Atlas, we recommend planning out which Lineage Supports you want the best odds at getting and saving them until the end. Despite it’s distance away, it is often best to start with Derelict Manor, as the Lineage supports there often don’t hold as high of value.

Early Atlas Master Point Allocations

Below are my recommended upgrades to take for each Atlas Master, and why to use them. You can of course tailor these points to more distinct strategies later on to synergize with other Atlas Tree Passives or the content you prefer. The guides for Each Atlas Master will go more in-depth on some of the possible combinations, but for now, we’ll highlight the early combos you can get with two points.

Doryani’s Science

Doryani tends to take longer compared to the other two Atlas Masters to unlock upgrades for. As such, he’s limited to a single point here.

Stitch the Flesh is the best option you will heave early. It enables you to do 6-Modifier Waystones and not have them be lost with a single death. It’s a fantastic safety net that can allow you to play more rewarding maps with a bit less risk.

Evolutionary Pressure can be good too, once you no longer feel like that safety net of Stitch the Flesh is needed. With other Atlas Master being easier to upgrade though, it’s safe to say it’d be better to swap.

Hilda’s Hunting

Hilda tends to be the fastest one to unlock all of her Atlas Master Points, but the focus here is on early mapping, so we’ll limit her to just two points for that sake.

Breeding Season and Mighty Prey are just the best early passive for her by a wide margin. With Breeding Season adding more Rare Monsters will make maps more rewarding overall, while Mighty Prey will make climbing Waystone tiers go smother and faster.

Jado’s Spycraft

Jado can also be a bit slower on unlocking, but still much faster than Doryani in many cases. So Jado will also be limited to two points here.

If you like strongboxes, Trove Seeker and Mysterious Gifts is a solid pairing. Mores chest and Strongboxes as well as rare chance to get Cryptic Keys that you can hold onto for Researcher’s Strongboxes.

For a more general option, In the Wrong hand and Unforeseen Threats are a gerat combo. This can not only help you progress Jado furtherr, but also enable easier farrming of Unique items and Lineage Supports from Anomaly Maps.
