Jado is one of three Atlas Masters available in Path of Exile 2. Learn how to unlock his passives and the best ways to use them.
What are Atlas Masters
Upon completion of the campaign in Path of Exile 2, you’ll move into the Atlas. Once there, as you complete Waystones you’ll be able to unlock each of the three Atlas Masters, who act as a pseudo-ascendancy for the endgame Atlas content.
Jado is one of three Atlas Masters, alongside Doryani and Hilda, that are able to influence your Atlas. Jado, in particular, specializes in hunting Unique Items and Maps in addition to Lineage Supports.

- Sealed Reservoir – Northeast of the Atlas Starting Point, along the East wall of the Fortress.
Jado’s Spycraft Passives
Below are the 12 Passives available for Jado, going left to right across each row.
Unexpected Missions
Corrupted Waystones open a Random Map Area when used on Basic Maps.
Corrupted Waystones open Maps with 1 additional random Modifier.
Unexpected Missions provides mostly upside to running Corrupted Waystones, with the extra modifier. This is applied on top of existing modifiers and can be boosted by effects such as Jado’s Partial Translations, which boost these modifiers in much the same way.
There is the small downside of having Basic Maps, or those that aren’t Anomaly Maps, Unique Maps, Precursor Towers, or Grand Expeditions. This isn’t much of a downside, but it will mean having to deal with random map layouts, rather than any preferred ones.
In the Wrong Hands
Powerful Map Bosses drop an additional unique item.
In the Wrong Hand is exceptionally strong, especially when running Overseer Precursor tablets to force Powerful Map Bosses. While you’re not guaranteed to get good unique items from this, they can still be disenchanted to slowly build up a pile of Orbs of Chance.
Trove Seekers
100% increased amount of Rare Chests.
Strongboxes have 100% increased chance to be Unique.
Trove Seekers’ Rare Chest bonus has a very niche use with Abyss, as when paired with the Close to the Surface passive from the Abyss Tree and Tablets for additional Rare Chests, you can have an Abyssal Depth with a large number of Rare Chests and Monsters, granting much higher odds of finding those rare Omens and Desecrated Currencies.
Combined with Cryptic Keys from Jado’s Mysterious Gifts passive also opens a lot of potential with some of the better Unique Strongboxes, particularly those that spawn monsters. Seeing them more often and opening them multiple times can result in a lot of extra loot. You can even take this a step further and seek out the Ancient Modifiers that add more Strongboxes to a Map, as well as Jado’s Stolen Relics passive as well for more chances at good Foiled Uniques from the Reliquary.
Mysterious Gifts
Rare Strongbox Monsters have 5% chance to drop a Cryptic Key.
Unique Monsters have 1% chance to drop a Cryptic Key.
Mysterious Gifts is a niche passive, but if you want to pursue an endgame farming method involving Strongboxes, it can definitely be a powerful option. Once you unlock the Enemy’s Hoard Atlas Tree Passive, you’ll find Cryptic Keys more frequently.
When using Cryptic Keys, you’ll want to save them for the more valuable Strongboxes such as Researcher’s Strongboxes that award currency. You many even want to consider making use of the Living Metal Atlas Tree Passive and save them for Strongboxes that get Possessed by Azmeri Spirits.
Eastern Knowledge
Verisium Remnants have 10% chance to be rolled an additional time, keeping the rarest outcome.
Eastern Knowledge is an almost mandatory passive to have active while farming Grand Expeditions. While it’s effect may be confusing at first, what this does is roll the number of sockets on Verisium Remnants, making it more likely to find the more rewarding Remnants.
If you’re not running Expedition at all, then this won’t even have enough opportunities to trigger much. It will still help, but the given the 10% trigger chance, you’re better off using another passive.
Unforeseen Threats
5% chance on completing Maps for a nearby Anomaly Map to be revealed.
Unforeseen Threats is a great way to try and target farm the Linage Supports from the Deadly Map Bosses found in Anomaly Maps. These are often incredibly powerful and valuable as a result, making it very lucrative if you manage to get lucky with triggering this effect and getting the good drops from the anomaly bosses.
Partial Translations
0-40% Increased effect of Explicit Modifiers on Tablets.
Partial Translations is a fairly powerful bonus, making your Tablets more effective on occasion. However, the randomness to it holds it back a fair bit from being consistently good without relying on duplicate tablets to have it scale with.
This is best paired with modifiers you’re running multiple of, such as effects to reduce reroll costs in Ritual, Monster Effectiveness, and of course Item Rarity.
Long Days
20% more chance of Random Extra Content.
Long Days Makes it more likely for Azmeri Spirits, Essences, Rogue Exile, Shrines, Strongboxes, and Summoning Circles to appear in maps. Given that you get it so late, you’re not likely to have use for it until you unlock The Chosen Path Keystone on the Atlas passive Tree, which provides a degree of control over what spawns.
There are rare cases where it can be great, particularly with increasing the odds of getting Extra Content that pairs well together such as Essences and Azmeri Spirits. That still relies on it providing the right Extra Content though.
Stolen Relics
Unique Strongboxes may be the Legacy of the Order, dropping a Twilight Reliquary Key.
Stolen Relics is an okay pick up as an extra passive on top of anything else that works for your current strategy. The Reliquary Keys translate to Foiled Uniques, but given the wide pool of those that are available, it’s not a particularly strong option.
If you are Farming Unique Strongboxes using Trove Seeker and especially if you build up a stock of Cryptic Keys from Mysterious Gifts, this can become a fair bit more rewarding. It’s still a heavy gamble and far from being reliable.
Ancient Activations
Powerful Map Bosses have 5% chance to add a Ancient Modifiers to a nearby Map.
Ancient Activations can be very powerful, especially if you’re leaning into Extra Content as the main part of your farming strategy. There are so many Ancient Modifiers that boost Extra Content that you’ll want to pair this with Long Days and The Chosen Path in many cases.
There are some modifier that help outside of these strategies, but they’re a much smaller part of the pool of available Ancient Modifiers. In which case, Jado just have better generic options that are more consistent.
Keen Appraisal
50% increased Exceptional Items found.
Keen Appraisal is very useful if you’re a crafter, as almost all very high end crafts will want start from an Exceptional Item. This is because they come with an Extra Socket or quality that starts above 20%. Depending on what rolls, they can lead to some very powerful items, but they will require currency to craft in any meaningful way to leverage these bonuses.
Untold Histories
35% increased chance to find Lineage Supports.
Pinnacle Bosses take 35% less Damage.
Pinnacle Bosses have an 50% increased chance to drop Lineage Supports.
Untold Histories making it easier to find Lineage supports can be exceptionally powerful alongside hunting Anomaly Maps with Unforeseen Threats, as it will make it more likely to find Lineage Supports. While it’s not guaranteeing they will drop, or even that they’ll be the more desirable ones.
There are a number of Boss Exclusive Lineage Supports, and particularly those of Pinnacle Bosses, that can command a high price as well. This means that this node is very strong option while farming Pinnacle Bosses that do have valuable Lineage Supports, however, Doryani’s Head of the Snake is a better option if they have drops that are more valuable.
Jado’s Spycraft Point Allocations
Below are our recommendations to use at each stage of unlocking the passives for Jado’s Spycraft. Keep in mind that not all passives are available at all times, and are unlocked alongside each point.
Single Point
Jado isn’t a particularly strong choice when he only has access to the first three passives. There are uses for all of them, but often work much better when combined with other bonuses.
However, In the Wrong Hands is a solid bonus early on, particularly in SSF. You’ll want to run Overseer Tablets to climb up the Waystone Tiers, meaning you’ll have a number of chances at getting uniques useful to your build, or even sell for a bit if playing Trade League instead.
Two Points
The Second row still doesn’t offer much for synergies beyond Trove Seeker and Mysterious Gifts. It’s a strong early choice if you do opt to put early Atlas Points towards boosting Strongboxes though.
In the Wrong Hands and Unforeseen Threats also work well together, as the Deadly Map Bosses of Anomaly maps are still considered to be Powerful Maps Bosses. This makes the already fairly rewarding Anomaly Maps just a bit more rewarding. Of course, you can swap In the Wrong Hands for Unexpected Missions for a more late game version of that same stategy.
Three Points
The Next row just expands on the previous combinations. You’d want to add Stolen Relics to Strongbox combo or Partial Translations to the Anomaly Map combo.
If you wanted to farm Cryptic Keys as a separate strategy, you could even drop Mysterious Gifts in favor of using long Days and hoping for more Strongboxes. This gives you a much higher chance of finding Strongboxes and having them be Unique, including Legacy of the Order, while still retaining the ability to open them multiple times.
Four Points
With all 4 points and all 12 passives available, there are two strong combinations that are worth using when able.
The first expands on the Anomaly Map strategy, utilizing Untold Histories, Partial Translations, Unforeseen Threats, and Unexpected Missions. This leverages the extra Modifier and boosted modifiers along with Untold Histories to massively boost the odds of finding Lineage Supports, specifically those from the Deadly Map Bosses.
The other combo relies on having farmed Cryptic Keys previously, but expands the Strongboxes strategy. This uses Trove Seekers, Stolen Relics, Long Days, and Keen Appraisal. The addition of Keen Appraisal will make the typically less rewarding strongboxes (Weapons and Armor) more worthwhile, without taking away from the better ones (Uniques and Currency).
