SWTOR’s Update 7.8.1 “Master’s Enigma” releases on March 10th, 2026, and is one of the largest “minor updates” in recent history. It contains a story chapter as the developers are catching up after the strike ended.
Twitch Drop Walker Mount
The T2-26 Scout Walker is a mount reward that will be given to players who watch 5 hours of SWTOR streams in the month after 7.8.1 is released, from March 10th to April 7th. It’s a purple recolor of the Rapid Recon Walker mount.

We continue to update our SWTOR Twitch Drops Guide to include the new rewards and schedule. There, you can also find a list of all past rewards, just in case you are curious what you have missed.
New Story: Master’s Enigma
Normally, all major updates (7.5, 7.6, 7.7, 7.8, etc.) are supposed to have additional story content, whereas minor 7.X.1 updates are supposed to have Date Nights only.
Broadsword fell behind in their story content release schedule because of the SAG-AFTRA Video Game Voice Actors Strike last year, so to catch up, they’re releasing the next batch of story content with 7.8.1, called Master’s Enigma!
Lana Beniko and Theron Shan will be attending a meeting with Mandalorian and Empire | Republic leadership on Oddesen to discuss and recent events.

Arn Peralun and Tau Idair will be representing the Republic while Major Anri and Darth Rivix represent the Empire in this meeting.

You’ll also be exploring Darth Nul’s ship, the Enigma, and seems to share some design elements with the Eternal Fleet, which raises some interesting questions about whether she knew about Valkorion. The rest of the Empire didn’t.

Still, this is a Sith ship, and it’s cool to see the Zakuulan design queues blended with Sithy moodiness and oodles of red lights.

We will also learn more Darth Jadus’ involvement in the chaos overtaking the galaxy by meeting with him on what appears to be Ziost based on the sky. I wonder if we’ll see regrowth there like we did during the Nathema Conspiracy.

As 8.0 draws near, the current storyline with Shae Vizla, Malgus, and the Mandalorian Civil War is coming to a close this year with Update 7.9, expected in June or July.
To start Master’s Enigma, you need to complete all previous main story chapters from Legacy of the Sith. You do not need to be an active subscriber at the time. It’s enough if you have been a subscriber between now and the release of Legacy of the Sith.
How to Unlock Master’s Enigma Story in SWTOR 7.8.1French and German VA Unavailable at Launch
While the entertainment industry has reached an agreement with SAG-AFTRA, the largest American actors union, other groups around the world struck in solidarity, and those negotiations have taken longer to resolve.
As a result, only English voice acting (VA) will be coming with 7.8.1. Players using the French and German clients will be able to play Master’s Enigma, Galactic Threads, and the newest Date Nights with subtitles in their native language and English voice acting, and native voice acting will be added as soon as it becomes available.
Date Night
This time around, we’re getting Kira Carsen and Torian Cadera for Date Nights. Lovers helping with reconstruction efforts on Tython with Kira and cooking a meal with Torian.

These missions are locked to the original class stories, Jedi Knight and Bounty Hunter, respectively. When you’re eligible for the quest, you’ll see it pop up in the Companions and Contacts window as an Alliance Alert.
Just like with the other date nights, you’ll get a deco for repeating each Date Night 5 times.
For Kira, the deco it’s a gorgeous bust mended with what looks like a kintsugi technique. For Torian, you get a cutting board with the Mandalorian mythosaur symbol etched into the corner.

To reiterate, French and German clients, will only be able to experience English VA with appropriate subtitles for the time being as negotiations with European voice actors are ongoing.
Galactic Season 10: Secrets of the Syndicate
Broadsword is shaking things up for Galactic Season 10 (and 11) by doing a mash-up of Season 1 and Season 3, giving players another chance to unlock Altuur zok Adon and PH4-LNX, along with the rest of the cosmetic rewards from GS1 and GS3!

Companion gifts are special for these guys and will be available at a discount on the GS vendor because there isn’t enough room on the rewards track.
While the emphasis will be on old rewards, there are still a few new things for players who have already gotten everything from GS1 and GS3, including some new-ish companion mounts, titles, SH labels, and a couple new companion appearances for Altuur and PH4-LNX.

Broadsword is also adding proper skin to Altuur’s body. Prior to 7.8.1, his body was matte blue, so it looked bad if you made him wear skimpy clothing. Hopefully, they do this for Fen Zeil (and the Gamorrean Guard from Nightlife!) as well.
Another brand-new-ish reward is a couple of reskins for existing mounts enabling you to drive around with your companion.

It’s clear they’re trying to focus dev resources on 8.0 now, but we deserve a proper retrofit to all existing “car” mounts, so they function with companions. It’s just not appropriate that these are being passed off as new rewards.
Meta-achievements from the original GS1 and GS3 will not be re-obtainable, but the rewards from said achievements, like the PH4-LNX Jeweled Original Customization (Gold), will be available.
Galactic Season 11 will feature GS2 and GS4 rewards in the same manner, so you’ll be able to get Fen Zeil and Amity. There are also plans to release all rewards from GS1-GS4 on the GS vendor, but Broadsword hasn’t nailed down the details or a timeline for that yet.
Spring Abundance Festival
The Spring Abundance Festival is returning to Blba Groves on Dantooine. It will run from March 10th (same as 7.8.1 update release) until April 7th.
Broadsword is preparing for the second coming of THE MANDALORIAN AND GROGU™ by stuffing Grogu’s hoverpod with a bunch of colorful Easter Eggs for these trying times!

For the same reason that GS10 and GS11 are recycling rewards, I wouldn’t expect any major reward additions for Nightlife this summer or Feast of Prosperity this fall, either.
On the sunny side, it’s a good opportunity to catch up on rewards you couldn’t afford from prior years, assuming you’ll be playing SWTOR much this month (or next) with Crimson Desert coming out on March 19th.
Balance Changes
There are a few wonderful balance changes and fixes coming to Mercenary | Commando and Powertech | Vanguard. Well, some of you won’t find all of them to be wonderful, but they are healthy for the game.
Mercenaries | Commandos are getting a buff to Hydraulic Overrides | Hold the Line and a fix to Trauma Regulators | Trauma Stabilizers so it builds stacks when you take AoE damage.
Powertech | Vanguards are getting a nerf to Hydraulic Overrides | Hold the Line and a fix to Hold the Line so the VFX stays visible for the duration of the ability.

SWTOR 7.8.1 Combat Balance Changes ExplainedWreckage on Dantooine New Achievements and Fixes
In a similar fashion to how we got progress achievements first for Hoth and Tatooine Dynamic Encounters and then got unique ones later, we’re getting some new unique achievements for Wreckage on Dantooine!
We anticipate that a couple of these achievements will pertain to Datapads and the Secret Primal Rock as well as the lost scientists.
It’s a bit of a dirty move in our opinion to ask players to go back and replay the content when they’ve already done everything, potentially hundreds of times, but it’s more acceptable for Wreckage on Dantooine because there’s still a reputation track that needs finishing.
It seems there are also a few bug fixes, mostly for the Orbital Core, though there are still a whole lot more bugs from Wreckage on Dantooine that need fixing.
Cartel Market Items
The only truly new thing coming with 7.8.1 is a Dantooine Invasive Flora Deco Bundle, though the Shadow Sentry set and weapons were released recently, and the Continue the Fight Bundle was refreshed with a recolored mount.
Dantooine Invasive Flora Deco Bundle
We’re getting a new bundle featuring a whole bunch of flower and vine wall and ceiling decos based on plants found at the Dantooine Crash Site. Just like the recently released Yavin IV Equipment Decoration Bundle, there’s a shipload of decos included.

I’m being serious about the shipload part. There are 34 unique decos, each with multiple copies, so we’re talking about hundreds of individual decos here.
Darth Maul Cosmetics
We expect a whole host of cosmetics related to Maul – Shadow Lord as well, which releases on Disney+ on April 6th, 2026. They will probably come as part of a lettered/bug fix patch in the following month.

Stronghold Hooks
This is a smaller change, but they’re adding more hook layouts for ceiling hooks and changing the hook size categories for ceiling decos. In 7.8, they added small hooks to the large layout on the ceiling, so they matched the large hooks on the floor.

I assume we’ll see the other layouts on the floor coming to the roof. It’s great to see Broadsword is giving stronghold decorating some love after so many years of nothing.
