SWTOR Korriban Incursion Flashpoint Guide (Republic)

Siow by Siow|

This guide will tell you everything you need to know about the Republic version of Korriban Incursion Flashpoint in SWTOR, including all boss encounters, bonus boss, achievements, and more!

This guide covers Story Mode, Veteran Mode, and Master Mode of the Empire-specific version of this flashpoint. We have a separate guide for the Empire-specific version Korriban Incursion.

How to Start the Flashpoint and its Story

To start Korriban Incursion’s story, you’ll need to have started the Forged Alliances expansion right after completing the Rise of the Hutt Cartel expansion.

To start Forged Alliances, go to the eastern half of Carrick on the fleet and look for an astromech named T3-G2. He’ll start a mission that’ll start Forged Alliances.

Colonel Darok is planning to invade Korriban to raid the Sith Academy. Its databanks within the Dark Council chambers are the target due to this knowledge able to turn the tides of the war in the Republic’s favor.

The only opening in the Imperial defenses is a small gap in their patrols, so the attack must be swift and hit hard for it to succeed and hopefully put an end to the Sith Empire.

To start the Korriban Incursion Flashpoint without the story arc, you can find the NPC, P6-K4, that gives the quests in the Outbound Mission Hangar at the Republic Fleet.

This flashpoint is also available in the Activity Finder under the Group tab. It’s available for Veteran and Master Mode, but you can find a Solo version in the Solo tab. The Solo version offers a guaranteed decoration drop from the flashpoint should you complete it.

Read our SWTOR Story Progression Guide to learn where this story fits in. The guide will help you experience the game’s narrative in the proper intended order of events and aid and assist you if you are not sure what to do and where to go next.

Bonus Mission: Wipe Them Out

This Bonus Mission is only available on Master Mode.

You will start this bonus mission when you defeat any Imperial NPC in the flashpoint on Master Mode. You’ll need to defeat 30 Opposing Forces on Korriban. This task is very simple to accomplish and doing this will unlock the bonus boss, the Imperial Commander.

First Boss: Lord Renning

Lord Renning is a Sith Sorcerer who attacks primarily through Force attacks. As the fight goes on, he’ll destroy some nearby cages to have tuk’atas attack you. If you’re not careful in this fight, you can find yourself being defeated in an instant.

Master Riilna’s primary attacks are Force Lightning, Force Storm, and Mind Crush. Watch out for when he channels Mind Crush, this ability applies a DoT to everyone within the group. It’s not too much damage in story mode but get into the habit of using a self-cleanse if you have it.

When Renning reaches 75%, 50%, and 25% hit points, he’ll use Force Lightning on one of the nearby cages. This will release two tuk’atas that can occasionally shove you as they attack. Defeat the tuk’atas then focus on Renning again.

The most dangerous part of this boss fight are broken holding cells. They’ll be sparking with electricity and if you touch it, it will be an instant death. This isn’t too much of an issue in lower difficulties, but do mind your footing.

Veteran Mode Differences

There are no mechanical differences in Veteran Mode.

Master Mode Differences

Master Renning will have Force Push in Master Mode. Keep your backs away from the broken holding cells so you aren’t pushed into them. Mind Crush hits a lot harder now, so do your healer a favor and use a self-cleanse to remove the DoT if you can.

Light and Dark Choice: The Slaves

You’ll run into Lieutenant Bickell with some Imperial slaves begging to be freed. You can choose one of the following options:

  • “We’re rescuing them” grants +100 Light Side points.
  • “They should fight with us” grants +100 Dark Side points.

Whoever chooses the Dark Side option will have a temporary companion. This slave is just cannon fodder, you won’t get much out of them.

Bonus Boss: Imperial Commander

This boss is only available on Master Mode.

After defeating 30 Imperial and Sith forces, you’ll be able to fight the Imperial Commander. Like many bonus boss fights, this fight is simple but will hurt if you get careless.

The Commander will use a channeled melee attack called Ravage. The tank needs to prepare a taunt because as soon as she’s done, his aggro will reset and he’ll attack another group member. You can run away from him as he’s using Ravage to cancel it, but his aggro will still reset.

The other primary mechanic to be aware of is their ability Force Choke. When activated, the entire group will be stunned and take a short DoT. The healer needs to be prepared for immediate AoE heals when the stun wears off. Aside from these two abilities, it’s a tank and spank. Just don’t fight on the metal platform as he can push you off.

Second Boss: I5-T1

I hope you like lasers, because this boss will be using them a lot on random targets! This boss isn’t too bad on story mode, but it becomes exceptionally dangerous at higher difficulties.

Second Boss: I5-T1 - SWTOR Korriban Incursion Republic version Flashpoint Guide

If you see I5-T1 using the Acquiring Target… ability, everyone needs to be prepared to tank some damage. I5-T1 will become immune to taunts while it’s focusing on its target and will fire a Laser Burst at them.

If you’re not the target, don’t get caught in the crossfire as you’ll take the damage as well. After firing the laser burst, the tank needs to regain aggro.

SWTOR Korriban Incursion Republic version Flashpoint Guide

Between laser bursts, I5-T1 will fire missiles at the group. If you see a small red circle beneath you, run out of it to avoid incoming missiles. Pretty simple in story mode, unfortunately, it won’t stay simple in Veteran and Master Modes.

Veteran Mode Differences

Veteran Mode will add two new AoEs to this encounter. While firing missiles making those small red AoEs, it’ll also have a large AoE centered around itself, this the ability Bombs Away.

This AoE lasts for 10 seconds and damages anyone within the area. If you have Saber Reflect, you can reflect the damage from Bombs Away back to the boss for some extra DPS.

The yellow AoEs that appear are mines that’ll spawn in from the sky. These mines are placed around randomly and make the environment very dangerous.

The tank can pop a damage reduction ability and walk over the mines to detonate them to clear the way for the DPS and healer. Otherwise, avoid them as much as you can.

Master Mode Differences

Do you know what would make this fight even more annoying? Adds. I5-T1 can now use K’lor’slug Queen Pheromones to summon a bunch of k’lor’slugs. With everyone being spread out to avoid all the previously mentioned AoEs, this can make it tricky for the tank to AoE taunt the adds while having everyone avoid mines and missiles.

Second Boss: I5-T1 Master Mode - SWTOR Korriban Incursion Republic version Flashpoint Guide

To make matters worse, there’s now a DPS check in this fight. If you fail to defeat I5-T1 quickly enough, it’ll activate Extermination Mode.

Extermination Mode is a buff that will allow I5-T1 to fire an infinite amount of homing rockets at everyone in the group.

Do your best to defeat I5-T1 as soon as you can while not blowing yourself up in the process. Be sure to not clump up during Laser Burst.

Final Boss: Darth Soverus

At the end of the Korriban Incurison, you’ll find Darth Soverus in the council chambers. He won’t let go of the Sith Academy without a fight and he has some interrogation droids to help him.

Final Boss: Darth Soverus - SWTOR Korriban Incursion Republic version Flashpoint Guide

Darth Soverus will use the ability, Ravage, a channeled melee attack that also immobilizes its target. The tank should maintain aggro so the DPS and Healer can maintain their mobility.

Every so often, Malfunctioning Interrogation Droids will spawn and fire blasters at a target while chasing them down. Once they reach their target, they’ll explode as seen by a red AoE beneath them. Step out of the AoE as soon as you see it.

His most prominent ability is to Mark the entire group and lift them into the air. You will be unable to act while you’re lifted. You’ll be a sitting duck for a bit as he attacks group members.

When you see him run his fingers across his neck, an AoE explodes from the center of the room that’ll damage and push back the group. Once Soverus is defeated, use the nearby terminal to secure the Sith Academy.

Veteran Mode Differences

Soverus can now use Saber Reflect for 17 seconds, but he won’t be attacking while this ability is active. This will reflect all incoming targeted damage but you can work around it DoTs. Watch out for the blue sparkles, this is a dead giveaway he’s using Saber Reflect.

Final Boss: Darth Soverus Veteran Mode - SWTOR Korriban Incursion Republic version Flashpoint Guide

The Interrogation Droids are no longer malfunctioning in Veteran Mode and will behave differently. They will now use a Containment Beam ability that will stun their target for 15 second. To make matters worse, your CC breaker ability won’t set you free from this stun. An ally should destroy the droid for you, but you can wait it out for 15 seconds but that’s not ideal.

Master Mode Differences

Darth Soverus gets access to both Malfunctioning Interrogation Probes and norman Interrotagion Probes. Otherwise, he is just tougher and nowhere near as bad as I5-T1 in terms of difficulty.
