Dragon’s Maw Puzzle Walkthrough – SWTOR KOTET Chapter 6

The Dragon’s Maw Puzzle from Star Wars: The Old Republic’s Knights of the Eternal Throne Chapter 6 features a lengthy puzzle during which you are disguised and not allowed to fight your way through.

Map Layout and Obstacles

During the majority of this chapter, you will not be allowed to freely move around the Palace. You will have to navigate through three main maps, representing three floors. There are several obstacles blocking or slowing your movement.

Red Circles

When you see a Guard with a Red Circle around them, you cannot pass through that area and will need to find another path.

Locked Doors

Some doors you will be able to open later on, when you gain the required credentials for your disguise. Others will remain always locked and you will have to find another way. To test on your own if a door can be opened, move close to it and hover your mouse over it to see if it changes to blue. Try clicking it There may be a terminal on the side that will open it.

Rendesvous with Indo Zal

You start from the Grand Foyer. Turn left and walk through the exit on the south side of the map. Pass through the Grand Ballroom and go to the marked location on your map to Rendezvous with Indo Zal.

You cannot pass through areas where there are Guards. They will be surrounded with Red Circles, preventing you from passing near or through them.

Plant Ion Charges on Control Nodes

Now the mission’s objectives task you with planting 6 Charges on 6 Control Nodes, this means you have a puzzle before you. You will receive some hints if you hit the special pop-up toolbar button that appears. If you want the easy mode version, just follow this guide.

Go to the Barracks

Go to the second floor and speak to the barracks guard, use the stairs in the grand Foyer.

Get food from the Kitchen

Go to the first floor and speak to the kitchen attendant.

Pick up the food supplies from the locker in the kitchen. The locker is very close to the entrance of the kitchen.

Again, use the stairs in the Grand Foyer. Follow the same path to go back.

Deliver Food to the Barracks

Go back to the Barracks. Use the Foyer stairs. The Barracks are at the bottom of the map on Level 2. Tell the guard you have food. Enter and place the food on the marked table.

Deactivate the doors in the Barracks. The terminal is on the for on the west side of the barracks.

Pick up Captain Shield

Go to the small room on the east side (left from the entrance) in the barracks, find and pick up the captain’s shield. It’s in the room at the very bottom right of the map.

Go to the west side of the barracks, deactivate the shield door using the console next to it. Plant Ion Charge on Control Node 6.

Plant Ion Charge on Control Node 1

Go back through the barracks and return to the first floor using the Grand Foyer stairs. Speak to the Knight of Zakuul guarding the shield door leading to the Control Node 1 in the top right corner on the map. Enter and reach the panel, then Plant Ion Charge on Control Node 1.

Go to the Security Center

Go to the southern end of Level 1. Speak to the Knight of Zakuul guarding the entrance to the Security Center in the southern part on the first floor.

Plant Ion Charge on Control Node 3

Deactivate the Shield Door leading to Suib-Level 1 in the bottom right corner of the map. Go to Sub-level 1.

Down on Sub-Level 1, go to the room behind the stairs and Plant Ion Charge on Control Node 3.

Go through the Pit Maintenance and enter the Machine room (open the door by interacting with the panel on the right. Plant Ion Charge on Control Node 4.

Unlock the Maintenance Hallway

In the Machine room, click on the Console to unlock the door leading to the Maintenance hallway.

Pick up the Access Badge, sitting on a container next to the shield door in the Maintenance hallwa, located between the Server Room and the Machine Room.

You now have full access to the palace and can go finish the remaining two nodes. Now you can also complete the Bonus Mission, if you wish to. It is explained step-by-step below.

Plant Ion Charges on Control Node 2

Go back to the southern staircase past the Beast Care room and return to the first floor.

Navigate around the first floor to the hallway next to the western staircase and reach the room where the next node is. Plant Ion Charges on Control Node 2.

Plant Ion Charge on Control Node 5

Go back to the second floor (take the staircase in the Grand Foyer. Reach the Machine Closet where the last node is – Plant Ion Charge on Control Node 5.

There are two doors you have to open. One is guarded, talk to the guard to let you in. Interact with the second one to open it and enter the Machine Closet with the Node in it.

Bonus Mission – Networking Opportunities

Make sure you have picked up the Access Badge from the Maintenance hallway on Sub-Level 1.

When in the Security Center on the first floor, click on a console on the table first.

Then the enter the Data Room and click on the Security Network Control Terminal to lift the lockdown, that will allow you to enter the Server network on Sub-Level 1.

Go to the Server Room and click on the Server Room Terminal to complete the bonus mission. By completing the bonus mission you can save yourself some time and effort in the later part of Chapter 6.

Once all nodes are planted, you are done with the “puzzle” in Chapter 6 “The Dragon’s Maw” – the rest is linear.

Confront Vaylin

For the completion of the mission, it doesn’t matter if you did the bonus or not. Pick up from here after you did the Bonus. The remaining part of this Chapter is linear, so I will be brief.

Go back to the Ballroom. Step into the green marked on the floor to trigger a cinematic scene of Vaylin’s speech.

After the scene you will be thrown into the Beast Pit in Sub-Level 1. Defeat the Rancor and make sure Indo Zal survives as well.

A cinematic will play out after that and here you will see different things based on previous decisions you have made at the end of KOTFE’s Chapter 16.

Find Vaylin

To exit the Beast Pens, go to the north-west corner of the room and climb up on the bones to reach Level 1.

On Level 1, you will have waves of Loyalists and other hostile NPCs to defeat as you make your way past the Kitchen and the Storage to the Loading Dock.

Out on the Loading Dock you will have to defeat a Ferocious Beast. Don’t fight on the bridges and be careful of knock-backs.

After the fight, head to the staircase in the bottom of the map to get back to Level 1. You will have more NPCs to fight. You may use stealth if your combat style is capable of it. Some waves you can just wait out and avoid.

When you get to Level 1, you will be in the bottom left corner of the map. Go past the Security Center to the Grand Foyer stairs and up to Level 2.

On Level 2, take the north corridor and at the western end (through more waves of hostile NPCs), go through the door where a pair of Horizon Guards will be waiting for you. These are just normal Gold NPCs, nothing special to their abilities.

Take the Elevator to the Skydeck Gardens, where the final encounter for this chapter will be/ I wont spoil the scene and actions there.

Once again the events and outcome will differ based on previous decisions you have made during your adventures through the Chapters. The fight may be a bit longer, but it shouldn’t be much of a challenge to you.

After this final encounter, you will have to escape the Palace to complete Chapter 6 Dragon’s Maw.
