The Oricon Storyline
The recommended level for this planet is 55 or higher. The story missions almost mirror the dailies, but have different names and a couple of different objectives (described below).
Each mission is given after the previous one is completed. Once you reach the quest for the [Heroic +2], you will have the solo dailies unlocked.
If you want to unlock the Heroic as a Daily too, you have to complete its Story version first. The storyline on Oricon is tied to the events on Belsavis and its Daily Area, Section X.
The Oricon story arc was developed as a conclusion to a rather long and very interesting story arc revolving around the Dread Masters. The two operations available on Oricon, the Dread Fortress and the Dread Palace, are its epic conclusion. With a bit of an aftermath with the Operation Scum and Villainy.
The storyline is not of vital importance from today’s point of view, but I highly recommend you to not skip it. I think you will enjoy it and it is worth your time. Especially if you have played thoroughly the previous related story arcs.
To start the Oricon storyline, pick up the starter mission from your faction’s Fleet. The mission is called Days of Dread for the Republic and A Master Revealed for the Empire.
Below you will find more detailed description of each mission. Quick note – the only difference between Republic and Empire is that Republic does Haunted Paradise first, then Seeds of Dread, Empire players do them in reverse order – Scarred Paradise and then Seeds of Dread. The objectives, however, are the same.
Mission Walkthroughs
This segment details the story missions and their daily variant. The naming of the missions below is:
REPUBLIC Story | EMPIRE Story | DAILY MISSION
The Master’s Minions (Area) | Oricon Decimation (Area)
The first time you set foot outside of the main camp, you will be given this Area Mission, which is valid for the whole Oricon zone and tasks you with killing 50 Dread Forces on Oricon.
Spark of Home | Gathering Forces | Fallen Forces
The objective of this mission is to free 5 Republic survivors. They are locked inside Escape Pods, spread around the western area of Oricon. To free them, you have to click on the door of the Escape Pods.
Haunted Paradise | Scarred Paradise | False Paradise
Go to the north section of Oricon and defeat Dred Guard Beast Lords and Aclytes, then loot their corpses to find 10 Bioenergy Enhancers.
Next objective is to locate the Dark Energy Source. Do that by using your Bioenergy Enhancer (icon is next to the mission in the tracker) and this will point you to the most northern part of the area – to a cave.
Inside the cave you will have a few more tentacles to defeat, before you reach the end. There you will find the boss – Corrupted Bothruim Beast.
If you are slow to kill it, tentacles will spawn around it and will start healing it. You should interrupt the cast from the boss – an ability called Extract, which drains life from you.
Seeds of Dread | Seeds of Dread | Dread Engines
This is one of the differences between the story mission and the daily quest. For the story you will need to destroy 5 Terraforming Devices, instead of 3 (for the Daily).
Once this is done, you will be send to the most southern part of the area, inside a cave, where you have to disable the Primary Terraforming Device.
Lastly, defeat the boss that will spawn. This boss can be a survival challenge for undergeared players.
Eye of Terror | The Hand That Sees | The Tower’s Core
This mission will send you to the Tower, located in the middle of the area. Climb the steps to enter the instance at the top. Inside you will find 3 consoles.
Activate them one at a time and kill the spawning droids. Then go to the middle to interact with the Core in the middle. Kill the NPC that will spawn next to it – Commander Zaoron.
The Darkening Stars (H2) | Clipping Winds (H2) | Preemptive Strike (H2)
Here is the 2nd difference between the story and Daily. For the story mode of this Heroic, you have to defeat 3 Dread Host Commanders instead of 2 (for the Daily).
The Commanders are named NPCs, roaming around the area. There are 2 on the brindge, leading up to the Dread Fortress, a third one you can find either to the north of to the south from the bridge.
The 2nd objective is to disable 5 Dread Host Transports for the Story and 4 for the Daily. The clickable part of these shuttles is on the top and they do respawn quick quickly, so you don’t need to walk to several different shuttles to complete the quest.
Emanations of Dread (Weekly)
Complete all the daily, area and Heroic missions on Oricon to get the reward for the Weekly mission as well.
Best routes for each faction
Once you have unlocked the daily missions, you can focus on farming them. The order in which you will complete them, doesn’t matter. You can pick up all of them at once from the Mission Terminal, located in your main camp.
There is, however, a certain approach and order of completion that I will advise you to follow if you want to save yourself some time and do them quicker.
In short:
- If you are a Republic player, start from west, move north, then respawn at the camp and move towards the Tower, then head south and finally map to the Dread Fortress quick travel spot to finish with the Heroic.
- If you are an Empire player, start from west, move south, then respawn at the camp and move towards the Tower, then head north and finally map to the Dread Fortress quick travel spot to finish with the Heroic.
Republic Players
As you head out of the main camp, the Area mission Oricon Decimation will be given to you automatically. Start killing NPCs around the Escape Pods for Fallen Forces and do at least 3 of them, while heading north.
Start doing the objectives for False Paradise and once done with it, map back to your camp.
Head towards the middle this time and finish Fallen Forces, then head into the tower for The Tower’s Core.
If you want to do the bonus quest, do it before you enter the instance (go up and down the stairs to pick up all 5 items for the bonus objective).
After you are done, use the quick travel from the top of the instance to get to the bottom of the tower and head south. Focus on the objectives for Dread Engines.
Once done with this mission, quick travel to the Dread Fortress’ entrance and head west for the Heroic Mission Preemptive Strike.
There are 2 of the named commandos usually on the bridge, so if you are lucky, you wont need to search for them. I suggest you head north from the bridge for the 2nd objective – disabling the shuttles.
You should be able to easily solo this, but be careful, some of the Commanders are harder to kill.
Completing all dailies + the Area and Heroic Missions will also complete the Weekly Mission Emanations of Dread.
Empire Players
As you head out of the main camp, the Area mission Oricon Decimation will be given to you automatically. Start killing NPCs around the Escape Pods for Fallen Forces and do at least 3 of them, while heading south.
