ACCESSING THE FLASHPOINT
To do the story of this Flashpoint, you have to be on a lvl 70 character, which has already completed all previous missions in the “Theron Story Arc” – starting with The War for Iokath, going through Umbara and then Copero. This will unlock “The Nathema Conspiracy” mission on your personal ship.
If you want to just do the Flashpoint without the story mission, you can pick up the Story, Veteran or Master Mode from the terminal, located just next to the entrance. And the entrance is on Odessen – in the Alliance Staging Area (the elevator on the right side of the landing platform). This is the same place, where the entrances to Crisis on Umbara and A Traitor Among the Chiss Flashpoints are. If you do the Flashpoint with a group without having the story mission, some cinematics will be different for you.
Read our SWTOR Story Progression Guide to learn where this story fits in. The guide will help you experience the game’s narrative in the proper intended order of events and aid and assist you if you are not sure what to do and where to go next.
BOSS ENCOUNTERS
The Flashpoint includes five boss encounters in total – one of them is a bonus (optional) boss and the fourth and fifth one happen one after another with one cinematic between them. Below are the mechanics and tips for each one of the fights.
FIRST BOSS: VORECLAW
The boss activates as soon as you step into the arena. There are three green circles in the area with a pylon and a terminal on each one of them. Lure the boss into the circles and click the terminal (if the boss is not inside, you can’t activate them). This will stun the Voreclaw and you can clear the adds with quick AoE attacks.
Once the adds are dead, lure the boss to a green area, activate a pylon, stun it and hit it as hard as you can. When the boss wakes up after a few seconds, bring it to the next pylon and repeat. Voreclaw can burrow. When this happens, a giant red circle is displayed around the boss. Staying in it will damage you. You can still lure the boss to the green and activate the pylon to bring it above the ground and stun it.
There’s one special attack worth mentioning – Rock Throw. It’s a 2 seconds channel. Voreclaw will throw after that a rock to an area marked with a red circle. Easy to avoid. Cannot be interrupted. It seems to only happen when the boss targets a player from range.
OPTIONAL BOSS: HANDS OF ZILDROG
These twins are a bonus boss encounter located in the Verdant Valley – on the left hand-side as you move through the map. There’s a bonus mission Valkorion Chest behind them, but more on that later. You can skip them if you like. They are quite simple and straight forward in terms of mechanics.
The only special attacks are Turbulence and Debris Storm. The Turbulence is a 2 second long channel. The Debris Storm is a 9 seconds long channel, marked with a red circle around the targeted player. There is no penalty for defeating one first, so focus your damage on one of them first.
SECOND BOSS: ANCIENT GUARDIAN DROID
This boss can be made very simple if you follow the right mechanics. There are Hunter Probe droids spread around the edge of the circular arena. Damage one or more of them until they start “repairing”. This is a long channel process that turns the aura the droid has from Red into Blue.
The Red aura buffs the boss, when it is standing on it. On the opposite, the Blue aura weakens it. You want to use your best attacks when you have the boss near a Hunter Probe droid in repair mode – on the Blue aura. I advise you NOT to kill the probes. The Hunter Probes switch from Red to Blue around their 50% HP mark. Here are the texts of the Red and Blue buffs on the boss:
When the boss fight begins, the Ancient Guardian Droid has a shield. To drop it, take it to a Blue area and keep damaging the boss. The boss has some special attacks worth mentioning:
- Decimation Protocol – Now and then it will go to the middle and start a long channel. During it you should stand behind one of the Hunter Probe droids. If you stand on the open, you will take damage from the boss’ AoE and also get stunned (roped) by another Hunter Probe droid.
- Rake – Frontal AoE 0. 9 seconds channel attack, easily avoided. Marked on the ground with a cone infront of the boss.
- Rocket Stomp – Another frontal AoE from the Ancient Guardian Droid. marked in a similar fashion like Rake. This one has 2.0 seconds channel and knocks you back. Easily avoided.
THIRD BOSS: GEMINI 16
At the start of this boss fight, the boss is alone. After you cause some damage, adds will start spawning from the outer edge of the platform. They go for the healer usually. You can tank or kill them. I recommend you stay focused on the boss and AoE the adds quickly to minimize unwanted damage.
Gemini 16 has one special attack – Integration Beam (a 5.0 seconds long channel). After an initial cast, the actual channeled attack happens. The tank should face this channel away from the group and take the damage alone. In solo and story mode the beam does not follow you after the initial cast and its damage can be completely avoided.
At around ~50% HP mark, the Gemini 16 splits into multiple clones, each one channeled to a Crypt of Essence pillar. Destroy the pillars to disable the shields on the clones then kill them one by one. You can use line of sight to minimize the incoming damage from the Desintegrate Beam attacks from the clones. Be careful, though, always stay in sight of your healer!
In the final phase of this boss fight Gemini 16 will start using Orbital Strike – a wide circular AoE attack, marked with yellow on the ground. The other one is called Disintegrate. It is a special linear attack that Gemini 16 channels for 5 seconds, dealing moderate amount of damage. Cannot be interrupted.
FINAL BOSS: VINN ATRIUS AND ZILDROG
This is the final boss of the Flashpoint and it happens in the exact same area where you fought Gemini 16. Be careful where you stand on the platform as Vinn has knock-back abilities. The first one is called Force Blast (3.0 seconds long cast), and may push you off if you are not paying attention how the boss is faced by the tank and where you are standing.
The second special attack that has a knock-back attached to it is a 2.0 seconds long cast called Surging Strike. This one is marked with a yellow circle about 8m in diameter around you.
Lightning Storm is a 4.0 seconds long channel. It places blue circles on the ground. If you stay inside, you will be taking damage. To avoid getting hurt by this attack, simple keep moving, but not chaotically and be careful where you place these circles to avoid hurting someone else around.
As soon as you see the Annex of Zildrog spawn – a pylon appearing near the inner edge of the platform – attack and kill it quick. It casts a very nasty attack – Lifeforce Syphon, that puts a stacking debuff on you lowering your HP..
When two players are connected with a Beam, they have to stay close to each other to keep it green. If they are not close enough, the beam would turn red and start healing the boss up. Be careful where you go when you are beamed. It seems that both players must be in melee range to each other or very close in any case. This mechanic might cause trouble to a PUG (Pick-Up Group) as coordination is key here, especially when Atrius lays an AoE on the ground.
After you defeat Vinn Atrius, you enter the final DPS race phase. You have up to 60 seconds (Fina Harvest channeled ability) to destroy Zildrog. Each second Zildrog gains a stacking red buff, improving his damage output. This isn’t really very tough, but you have to be careful and not stand in the red circles that spawn under you.
BONUS MISSION: SEEKER OF FORTUNE
There is a bonus mission inside the Flashpoint – Seeker of Fortune. You need to find and open 7 of Valkorion’s treasure Chests. Here are their locations. During the writing of this guide this mission did not provide any meaningful rewards. It may be a bug that will be fixed later.
