There are 12 legendary swords in The Blood of Dawnwalker. We’ll show you each one’s stats, what the sword is good for, and how to get each one!
Durandal

Durandal is a well-rounded medium sword that reduces stamina costs for attacking and dodging, boosts your damage output against supernatural enemies, and lowers the cooldown on Swordmastery abilities.
Due to its location and stats, it’s an excellent weapon to use in the early game before you’ve specialized.
You can loot Durandal from a chasm beneath a collapsed bridge leading out of Vale Sangora west of the Briar Sloughs in Ambrus’s Fiefdom.

Erkas’s Sword

Erkas’s Sword offers medium attack speed and improves weapon crits and boosts your human health and damage dealt to supernatural enemies.
Since one of its perks only works during the daytime, that’s when you’d want to use it.
This weapon does not offer any improvements to Witchcraft, making it better suited for builds that derive more of their damage from Swordsmanship.
You can loot Erkas’s Sword from an ancient tomb in the foothills of Maragir Wealds in Ambrus’s Fiefdom as part of the quest “Champion of Old”.

Gladius

The Gladius boosts your vampiric HP, damage against mortals, and weapon crits.
This is the best nighttime weapon in the game if you aren’t using claws as your melee weapon.
It’s well-suited to the early game even if you plan to employ your Vrakhir claws before you spend points to upgrade them.
You can loot the Gladius from Brencis’s former cave domicile on Mt. Balaur west of Parlita in Boar’s Back in Bakir’s Fiefdom.

You can only access this part of the cave at night. You’ll need to Shadowstep onto the ledge at the back of the cave where blood was dripping.

Brencis also drops this sword when you defeat him, but the game ends at that point, so it won’t be useful to you.
Imbued Sword of St. Mihai

The Imbued Sword of St. Mihai offers a unique Weapon Art and has the highest DPS out of any sword in the game, though its slow attack speed makes it harder to use.
It does not have any special properties beyond the unique Weapon Art. It derives its lethality against vrakhiri from its significant damage boost against supernatural enemies.
Its other stats orient it towards Swordsmanship builds, making it a strong weapon for general use.
Forging the Sword of St. Mihai with the uriashi hermit yields a purple epic quality blade. To turn it into a legendary weapon, you’ll need to temper it inside the cave blocked by blood webs higher up the mountain from the uriashi hermitage.

The Challenger

The Challenger is a fast sword that boosts the damage dealt by your Witchcraft abilities and makes them available more often, improves your human health, and reduces the stamina cost of dodging.
This is one of the best daytime swords in the game for Witchcraft builds but it’s no better than a green quality sword at night.
You can purchase The Challenger from the quartermaster at the southeastern gate into Vale Sangora, south of the Tantari Woods in Xanthe’s Fiefdom, but only after passing the point of no return during the manumits ending.

The Contender

The Contender is a fast sword that boosts activation charge restoration and reduces attack stamina costs and Swordmastery cooldowns.
These attributes make it useful all the time, particularly for builds that avoid dabbling in the arcane.
You can purchase The Contender from the sword blacksmith in Tantari, the village southeast of Svartrau on the eastern edge of Xanthe’s Fiefdom.

The Hand of Fate

The Hand of Fate is a fast sword that improves your Witchcraft abilities and activation charge restoration.
The Witchcraft boosts preclude it from being fully effective at night, so it’s best suited for daytime use only.
You can loot The Hand of Fate from an ancient sarcophagus in a kobold nest in some ruins beneath Svartrau that Father Florin is investigating as part of the quest “A Hero’s End”. You’ll need to acquire the Stone Key to access this region.

The access point is a cavern accessible while exploring the main ruins. You don’t have to teleport through this crack; it’s just a shortcut.

The Stone Key is resting on an altar in the secret basement of the treasury at the Cathedral Complex in Svartrau. You’ll need to visit this building to obtain the hilt of St. Mihai’s silver sword.

The Kingslayer

The Kingslayer is a slow all-rounder focused on removing stamina as a limitation and making perfect blocks better.
It is useful at all times of the day and pretty helpful, but it derives its power from making the game easier.
If you already manage your stamina well and can execute perfect blocks consistently, you won’t get much from this weapon.
Honestly, it’s a bit odd that this one has a slow attack speed.
The Kingslayer is not a unique legendary weapon, so you can find it as a random drop out in the world or purchase it from swordsmiths if you have the third Bewitching Influence perk when you have a high enough level.
The Prizewinner

The Prizewinner is identical to Erkas’s Sword, save for the faster attack speed.
Both boost weapon crits and damage against supernatural enemies and increase human health.
The Prizewinner is more easily accessible earlier in the game and its faster swing speed makes it easier to defend with.
You can purchase The Prizewinner from the uriashi hermit blacksmith at the treeline in the mounts west of Briar Sloughs in Ambrus’s Fiefdom.

The Purge

The Purge is a medium sword that boosts human health, reduces the stamina costs for blocking and attacking, and reduces Swordmastery cooldowns.
The weapon is most useful during the daytime, but that clashes with the versatility offered by other stats and time independence of Swordmastery.
This is probably the worst legendary sword because it contradicts itself so much.
The Purge is not a unique legendary weapon, so you can find it as a random drop out in the world or purchase it from swordsmiths if you have the third Bewitching Influence perk when you have a high enough level.
The Runner-Up

The Runner-Up is a fast sword that boosts weapon crits and perfect blocks.
It can be useful during both the day and night, but only if you aren’t using claws as a vrakhir.
Some of its power comes from making the game easier by extending the perfect block window, so keep that in mind if you’re using it.
You can purchase The Runner-Up from the sword blacksmith north of the Cathedral Complex in Svartrau City.

The Vrakhir

The Vrakhir is the ultimate nighttime sword. It boosts damage against mortals and vampiric health and reduces vampiric ability health costs and cooldowns.
Its slow attack speed is irrelevant because all of its stats work even if you’re using claws.
You can grab The Vrakhir from a blood corpse in the ruins of Kallias’s crypt in the bog in Xanthe’s Fiefdom during one of Lacra’s quests called “Night of Horrors”.
