This guide will show you how to defeat Barinade in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for the Nintendo Switch 2. Includes the strategy needed to expose its vulnerable parts, how to fight jellyfish surrounding it, and tips on avoiding its electric attacks.

Where to find Barinade

Barinade is on the east side of 1F of Lord Jabu-Jabu’s Belly. Once you take the platform up from Big Octo, and the path will eventually lead you to Barinade.

When you first encounter Barinade, it will surround itself with jellyfish. These jellyfish will act as armor for it, protecting it from damage.

Severing Ties

Barinade has fleshy dishes that shoot beams of electricity at you. Avoid these by side-stepping while targeting. Target the tendons connecting Barinade to the ceiling with your Boomerang, severing it in the process.

Once all three tendons are severed, Barinade will become half submerged into the floor. Meanwhile, the jellyfish are in electrified orbs of water, circling Barinade.

Jabbing Jellyfish and Battling Barinade

Avoid the circling jellyfish and defeat them when their bubbles are gone. Repeat this process until all of the jellyfish are defeated. Barinade will pop back out and get more jellyfish to replace the ones it lost.

Defeat as many jellyfish as possible when their bubbles are gone. The more you defeat, the more exposed Barinade will be once the jellyfish start circling it again. With more space open, you can more easily hit Barinade with your Boomerang to stun it to defeat the jellyfish.

When Barinade is complete out of the ground and floating around the room, hit its body with the Boomerang while avoiding the electricity beams. Hit it with your sword while it’s stunned, and repeat this process until it’s defeated.

Rewards for defeating Barinade

As your reward, you’ll receive a Heart Container, the Zora’s Sapphire, but most importantly, Princess Ruto’s heart. The Zora’s Sapphire is only to be given to Ruto’s betrothed, but alas, there is no time for celebration as you must take off to the Temple of Time to open the Door of Time!
