Since the Trial has began on 15th March, a huge amount of protests and discontent were unleashed upon Bioware for the crapy and weird character animations and lip syncing. It is true that the game suffers from those, but the statement that they will be magically fixed in the Day 1 Patch, was obviously false. A rumor that didn’t prove true.
Bioware’s Mass Effect Andromeda Lead Designer Ian Fraizer has been very busy in the past 3 days answering all kinds of questions from fans. One of them caught the eye of all media and it was indeed the confirmation that the first patch will not deal with the issue of Sara’s scary smile and other annoying buggy appearing during the animated cutscenes.
At day 1? No, that ship has sailed. We'll have more patches later on, but exactly what goes into them is still in discussion.

On another note, SLi fans should rest easy while waiting for the release, because Nvidia is working hard to provide a Game Ready driver for Mass Effect Andromeda that will improve performance. And not just for SLi users, but over all in general.
