This guide will show you the perks of upgrading your hideout and Manor on Great Inagua in Assassins Creed Black Flag Resynced, which upgrades to get first, and the reward given for fully upgrading the hideout.
When you explore the island of Great Inagua during the main story quest “This Old Cove“, you’ll be introduced to several game activities.
You’ll learn about the Mayan Stones, the hunt for the Templar Keys, the ability to profit from the art collection, leads on recruiting ship officers, and rebuilding the island’s small yet lively village.
This guide will show you what you can upgrade, what you should upgrade first, and show some neat features you can accomplish by investing in upgrades for your manor.
Rebuilding Great Inagua
When you complete the mission “This Old Cove”, you’ll notice how several NPCs gain a new icon above their head. If it’s square in shape with a little hammer on the corner, then talk to them to fund building projects.
Talking to them will open up a menu giving a brief explanation of what they offer, how much it will cost to build or upgrade a merchant, and to see a Hideout Overview.
Selecting the Hideout Overview will show you all available upgrades for the village portion of Great Inagua. While the stores get expanded inventory, the other expansions will offer unique services and perks.

For the General Store and Harbourmaster, you’ll have multiple upgrades available. As you improve these buildings, they gain newer and better appearances to help Great Inagua feel more civilized.
To access the Brothel and Campfire, you’ll first need to build the Tavern. The Treasure Dealer requires the General Store and Tavern, while the Fisherman’s Wharf requires the Harbourmaster and Tavern.
General Store
The General Store can be built by talking to the NPC on land outside the docks. Building the General Store will cost 500 reales but is well worth the price as it allows a place to purchase ammunition, remedies, and a small selection of gear.

If you want a wider selection of weapons, outfits, trinkets, and wildlife skins, you’ll need to revisit the General Store upgrade NPC. The General Store II upgrade costs 2,500 reales and the General Store III upgrade costs 5,000 reales.
At rank II, Rare weapons and gear will become available. Most notably, you’ll get a wider variety of swords. If you like chaining kills, the Officer’s Rapier unlocked at this stage is great for that. If you want better area damage with a heavy strike, the Pirate Scimitars will do just that for you.

At rank III, you’ll have a few Legendary weapon options available and all remaining wildlife skins. The Legendary weapons offer unique passives such as a pistol that slows time when you kill an enemy with it, or a pistol sword that fires a shot after a Perfect Dodge.

Tavern
You’ll find the NPC to build the tavern on the west side of the docks, directly across of the Harbourmaster. Building the Tavern for 100 reales will unlock three mini-games in expert level, and unlocks two NPCs.

The first NPC at the tavern can be paid 100 reales to increase the chance for a Royal Convoy to appear. The second helps you recruit crew members, but he’s rather useless with how easy it is to refill on crew when sailing or boarding ships.

Harbourmaster
On the docks leading to land, you’ll find an NPC that will ask you to help rebuild the Harbourmaster. Building the Harbourmaster costs 500 reales, and costs 2,500 and 5,000 reales to upgrade to ranks II and III.

Easily one of the most important vendors on Great Inagua, upgrading the Harbourmaster allows you to acquire higher tiers of ship upgrades for the Jackdaw.
You’ll also visit this vendor to customize the appearance of the Jackdaw, refill on ship ammo, and sell trade goods without having to walk to the General Store.

Brothel
After building the Tavern, you’ll find an NPC to south of the docks towards the east. Restoring the Brothel costs 6,000 reales, but it’s a good investment when you get the coin to spare.

When constructed, all Dancers become free to hire and your boarding crew deals more damage. This helps with stealth segments, but having more damage when boarding ships is always a welcome feature.

Campfire
After building the Tavern, an NPC will be on the beach that wants to build a campfire. Despite a campfire already being present, the expanded version will allow you to recruit drunk pirates as crew for free, and give two ship berths for Kenway’s fleet. Building the campfire costs 6,000 reales.

Treasure Dealer
To build the Treasure Dealer vendor, you’ll need to build the General Store and Tavern. The NPC is found on the docks going west of the Jackdaw and costs 5,000 reales to build.

The Treasure Dealer will reconstruct treasure maps from map fragments for a combination of reales and trade goods. He also sells Rare and Legendary gear for Kenway, ship vanity items, bones, and a Weathered Map Piece.
The bones in particular are useful to acquire animal skins from the General Store. It’ll be a while before you can find a Capuchin Monkey, so being able to trade in bones for skins is a good deal. Lastly, having this vendor present increases your passive Hideout profit over time.

Fisherman’s Wharf
On the far west of the docks in Great Inagua is the NPC that will ask you to restore the Fisherman’s Wharf. This costs 5,000 reales and will increase the passive Hideout profit over time and double the effectiveness of gathering skins from sea animals

The Great Inagua Manor
On the east side of the Great Inagua is the Manor. This acts as your personal getaway but it’s not exactly in pristine condition to start. Julien du Casse didn’t exactly treat this manor with the care it needs.

Inside the west wing of the manor is a room where you can manage your fleet, unlock an outfit with Templar Keys, and a table with scrolls where you can manage your hideout to upgrade the manor.
Rebuilding the Manor
The table on the south end of the west wing allows you to pay reales to restore various parts of the manor. As you do so, physical additions are made and unlock passive effects. You are able to make the following additions to your manor:
- Facade: This costs 4,000 reales and will unlock the Protection Money Box and unlock a new ship berth for Kenway’s fleet.
- Tower and Garden: This costs 8,000 reales, increases the maximum protection money, and unlocks an additional ship berth for Kenway’s fleet.
- Guesthouse: This costs 20,000 reales, increases maximum protection money, and unlocks a ship berth for Kenway’s fleet.
Outside of the listed perks, rebuilding the manor also provides visual updates. It begins to look cleaner and prettier with the new paint job, fixed wall, and plant life.

Protection Money Box
You can find the Protection Money Box to the left of the Fleet Planning table in the west wing. This is the box that’s unlocked as you acquire manor upgrades and will passively generate reales you can withdraw.

The amount of money stored depends on the amount of manor upgrades you have. Meanwhile the amount generated each minute depends on hideout upgrades you have (more specifically the Fisherman’s Wharf and Treasure Dealer).
| Tier | Money Cap | Rate |
|---|---|---|
| I | 2,000 Reales | 10/min |
| II | 3,500 Reales | 20/min |
| III | 5,000 Reales | 30/min |
- At Tier I, the box will be full in 3 hours and 20 minutes.
- At Tier II, the box will be full in 2 hours and 55 minutes.
- At Tier III, the box will be full in 2 hours and 46 minutes.
- Money Cap and Rate are not tied to one another. You can have a Tier 1 box with a Tier 3 rate. In this case, the box is full in 1 hour and 6 minutes.
Art Collection and Displays
Around the manor are various walls, shelves, and displays you can place items. These items include swords, pistols, paintings, decorations, and miniature ships. In the bedroom, you’ll find a mannequin you can display outfits on. These serve no functional purpose outside of looking nice and making screenshots to show off with.

The Treasure Hoard
In the west wing, there’s a set of stairs going to the Treasure Hoard. The amount of loot in this room varies depending on your current amount of reales. The more you have, the more grand it’ll appear. But if you spend all of your money, it’ll look sad and destitute.

Reward for restoring Great Inagua
When you complete all manor and hideout restorations, talk to the butler at the guesthouse. This will wrap up the quest “Former Glories” and you’ll earn the Edward the Legend outfit. Like all other outfits in Black Flag Resynced, it has no benefit outside of style.

Which upgrades to get first
When you complete “This Old Cove”, the first things you should build are the General Store, Tavern, and Harbourmaster. This will cost 1,100 reales to start and being able to restock on pistol ammo, remedies, and ship ammo will save you a lot of trouble.
Upgrade the General Store and Harbourmaster to Tier II when you can. Having access to more ship upgrades from the Harbourmaster is extremely important. At Tier II, the General Store will have more weapons to let you try different play styles but more importantly, it unlocks the Lodestone trinket.
The Lodestone trinket will let you automatically loot nearby corpses and curious. This is great for boarding ships so you don’t have to scrounge around for bullets and remedies mid combat.

Additionally, the Tier II General Store will let you buy Rabbit Pelts for 3 bones a piece. With two Rabbit Pelts, you can get the third Pistol Holster upgrade.
From there, focus on getting the Brothel, Fisherman’s Wharf, and Facade upgrade for the manor. The Brothel will make boarding ships easier, meaning more money and loot for you.
The Fisherman’s Wharf is good for getting double the skins from Bull Sharks found in easy waters. You’ll need four Bull Shark Skins to get the final Pistol Holder upgrade. You can also get bones from sharks which you can trade in for the pelts needed for the third pistol upgrade.
The Facade upgrade will unlock the Protection Money Box. With the Fisherman’s Wharf upgrade, you’ll get 3,500 reales a little under 3 hours. It’s not a great source of income but when you’re spending all of your money on ship upgrades, the pocket change is nice to purchase bullets and remedies from the general store.
- Rebuild the Harbourmaster, General Store, and Tavern
- Upgrade Harbourmaster and General Store to Tier II
- Build the Brothel, Fisherman’s Wharf, and Facade
- Upgrade Harbourmaster to Tier III when you need higher tier ship upgrades
- Upgrade everything else when suitable for you
