Rock your ship not with waves, but with Sea Shanties in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced. We’ll show you where to find all 45 Sea Shanties whether it’s found via Song Sheets, tied to a Quest, or obtained from a Local Event.
What are Sea Shanties?
Sea Shanties are songs that the Jackdaw crew can sing as you’re sailing in the game. They serve no practical purpose but it’s a nice addition to the game as they act as your own personal Pirate MP3 Player of sorts.
As you sail, you can start or stop Sea Shanties by pressing the V Key on PC, or D-Pad Right on the Xbox and PlayStation. To select a specific song, you can open up the Shanty Wheel with the C Key on PC, or D-Pad Down on consoles.

Sea Shanties are not available during combat or storms. If you wish to forgo shanties entirely, you can toggle the Sea Shanties Volume in the Audio menu under Options.
You can view the lyrics of collected Sea Shanties within the Codex Menu. Go to Database and select Shanties at the bottom of the list.
How to get Sea Shanties?
You’ll start out with 10 Sea Shanties when you unlock the Jackdaw, but if you want more then you’ll need to explore the world to find them.
Sea Shanties are most commonly found through Song Sheets seen floating in the world. There are a few that you earn from things such as completing quests, local events or Fleet Missions.
Chase Shanty Song Sheets
Song Sheets appear as glowing sheets of paper in the world. If you get close to one, it’ll float away while leaving behind measure lines and musical notes.
You’ll need to chase after it and catch it before it flies away entirely. The complete list of all Sea Shanty locations at the end of this guide will give you the coordinates of all Song Sheets.

When chasing a Song Sheet, follow its exact path as you parkour your way across various obstacles. When it stops entirely, you’ll only have a couple seconds left before it resets.
A Song Sheet can follow one of two paths depending on which angle you approach it. If one path is too tricky, try approaching the Song Sheet from the opposite side after it resets. The second path may be a tad easier to follow without losing progress.
The next segments explain the Sea Shanties you can earn from quests, events, and othergameplay means.
The Maid of Amsterdam (Naval Contracts)
The Maid of Amsterdam is earned when you complete 7 Naval Contracts. It’ll appear as a reward along with some other goodies once you’ve completed enough contracts.

Home Across The Sea (Local Event
You’ll find this shanty as a Local Event in Nassau at (597,767). A man will be singing the shanty alone and if you stick around long enough, the Local Event “Simple Performance” becomes available. Talk to him and you’ll unlock Home Across The Sea.

The Last Voyage of Stede Bonnet (Quest)
This shanty becomes available late in the game after you complete the main story mission “Marooned“. A letter from Stede will arrive at the Manor. Read this letter to start the quest and you’ll unlock The Last Voyage of Stede Bonnet and unlock his Character Portrait for the Manor.

Reuben Ranzo (Local Event)
Reuben Ranzo will require 32,000 Reales to obtain. You’ll need to upgrade the Manor at Great Inagua by rebuilding the Facade, Tower and Garden, and the Guesthouse.
When the Guesthouse is complete, an unnamed Local Event will appear right outside it. Pick up the sheet outside the Guesthouse to unlock this shanty.

The Wellerman (Fleet Planning)
The Wellerman is obtained by collecting Yellowed Map Pieces obtained from Fleet Planning. This one will take a significant amount of time to acquire as the bonus rewards (including Yellowed Map Pieces) are random. It took our team 16 hours to collect them all.
Once you’ve gathered 10 Yellowed Map Fragments, you’ll need to have the map restored at the Treasure Dealer on Great Inagua. The Treasure Map will point you towards the northern side of Black Island in Gibara at the coordinates (915,617).

Paddy Layback (Quest)
To unlock Paddy Layback, you’ll need to complete the Side Quest “Art Lover“. You’ll need to acquire 30 pieces of the art collection then talk to Bernard at the Manor.

Don’t Forget Your Old Shipmate (Quest)
Don’t Forget Your Old Shipmate is unlocked once you’ve completed the third Animus Rift quest, “Wayward Minds“. The only thing this shanty costs is the renouncement of your free will for the sake of EGO.

Burn Blackbeard’s Beard (Quest)
Burn Blackbeard’s Beard is earned after you complete the main story quest “Do Not Go Gently…“. It’s one of the better sea shanties you’ll unlock as the crew puts more effort into singing with more clarity and unity.

Light Upon The River (Local Event)
Light Upon The River will be found at Nassau (225,573). This is at the docks east of the Church Viewpoint. Entering the area will unlock the shanty and unveil the Local Event “Smelly Sailors”. This event gives you a treasure map that leads to the Guardian Beast Trinket.

As I was working on gathering Song Sheets, I was looking for good screenshots to use as this guide’s thumbnail image. I ended up accidentally recreating Nirvana’s Nevermind album cover. This is what’s known as a “Happy Little Accident”.
