This guide will show you how to complete the statue puzzle in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced. This puzzle serves as a final challenge of the quest The Sage’s Buried Secret where Edward Kenway and James Kidd explore ancient Mayan ruins.
The Sage’s Buried Secret
After completing the bulk of the tutorial quests ending with “This Old Cove“, you’ll need to meet up with Kidd in Tulum for the quest “Nothing is True…“.
After catching up with Kidd and a short cutscene, you’ll go into an ancient Mayan Temple where Kidd will do some exposition as you two parkour your way through the ruins.
Get across the Pit
Kidd will walk on some old wooden boards which will give way, leaving you with no direct path to reach them. To the north, the wall is sloping upwards. Climb up the slop to grab onto a branch, then climb along the branches and jump onto the red eagle statue ahead.
When you land on the red eagle statue, it’ll begin to lower to the ground. Climb up the blue jaguar statue on the other side of the room to unlock the door.
Solve the first Statue Puzzle
The first statue puzzle you’ll encounter involves a three-colored stone ring with a capstan in the middle, and a red eagle statue. Interact with the capstan and rotate it so the red eagle statue is above the red portion of the ring. Climb on top of the eagle statue to open the door.
As the eagle statue lowers, you’ll notice a nearby face statue rises. If you were to climb on top the face statue, it’ll lower while the eagle rises again. Ignore it for now but keep this mechanic in mind for later.
Swim through the Cenote
Follow James Kidd into the sinkhole where you’ll need to swim through a cenote (a naturally formed pit of water). When you find a submerged totem, go through the tunnel to the northeast to reach the next section.
When you surface, you can’t climb up to the next area until Kidd surfaces and climbs up first. Continue following Kidd up the ruins to reach the final puzzle of the Temple.
Solve the Second Statue Puzzle
This puzzle’s stone ring has mismatched statues. Your first step is to climb up the stone face statue to the left to raise the blue jaguar.
Rotate the capstan so the blue portion of the ring is under the blue jaguar. Climb up the blue jaguar statue and lower it into place.
Rotate the ring again so that the red eagle statue is where the blue jaguar previously was. Climb up the stone face to raise the red eagle out of the green portion of the ring.
The rest is fairly easy as you’ll just need to match the eagle and crocodile statues with their colors on the ring, then lower them by climbing them. This will open the remaining doors and you’ll discover the Sage’s secret.
- Lower the left face statue to raise the blue jaguar
- Rotate the central ring and lower the blue jaguar onto the blue sector of the ring
- Align the red eagle statue with the stone face to the left
- Lower the left face statue to raise the red eagle
- Rotate the central ring and lower the red eagle onto the red sector of the ring
- Rotate the central ring and lower the green crocodile onto the green sector of the ring
