Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced Patch 1.0.8 features the last content update for the game. Let’s dive in to find out what it has to offer.
Update Size and Availability
Update 1.08 for Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced released on October 27, 2026 at 14:00 UTC / 10:00 AM ET / 7:00 AM PT. The patch sizes for the various platforms are as follows:
- Xbox Series X|S: 15.5 GB
- PlayStation®5: 4.5 GB
- PC (UbiConnect): 4.3 GB
- PC (Steam): 2.1 GB
New Game+
To add some replay value to Black Flag Resynced, Ubisoft is adding New Game+ for its final content update. You can repeat New Game+ up to 5 times for a save file. Though each playthrough gets more and more challenging.
With each new playthrough, stronger soldiers and ships will appear more often. Fortunately, all of your important goods will carry over into the next game. This includes:
- Your Tools, Upgrades, Weapons, and Trinkets
- All Jackdaw Upgrades, Weapons, Abilities, and Pets
- Money, Materials, and Trade Goods
- Customizable Outfits
- Hideout Progression, Perks, and Art Collection
- Your Fleet (except for Forts)
- Codex Items
- Items purchased from the store
A new currency is also being added that can be used to by new goods from the General Store. You can exchange Reales for Escudos and exchange those for new outfits and items that are only found on a New Game+.
For every Escudo, you’ll need 4 Reales. So the Lively Captain Outfit that costs 70,000 Escudos will cost you 280,000 Reales.

There’s no way to manually input the amount of Escudos you want to swap, so getting precise amounts may take a while. You’ll just have to press and hold one of two buttons and wait for the desired amount to appear.
Nightmare Mode
If you’re not satisfied with the maximum difficulty previously offered, then you’re in luck as Nightmare Mode is being added. You can adjust these at any time with the Difficulty Tuning Menu.
Enemies hit a lot harder, react faster, can better detect you while you’re hiding, just about every aspect that could be made harder, has been made harder. Here’s a list of exact changes Ubisoft has brought up:
Ground Combat
- Enemies do 1.8x damage
- The timing for parrying is reduced
- No more white glint on enemy attacks
- Ranged enemies shoot more often The one-shot kill safety is disabled.
- This is the most impactful since the game does not prevent an instant death, even if the player has a lot of health left. Players should be extremely mindful of bullets and explosives.
Stealth
- Detection time greatly reduced
- Investigation time extended
- Enemies can hear the player when they’re moving faster than a walk
- Edward needs to be at least 6m above an enemy to stay hidden in a high spot, instead of just 4m
Naval
- All ship damages are increased
Activities
- Underwater sharks deal more damage
- Urchins and jellyfish damage is doubled
- Oxygen meter depletes faster
- All harpooning wildlife deals more damage
The thought of being able to be one-shot by a rifleman is particular scary. This will change how you board ships as the larger ones always have a rifleman on the crow’s nest.
Pair this with New Game+ to get even more of a challenge if even these drastic changes weren’t enough for you.
New Takedown Animations
Not all of the original game’s takedown animations were included with the remake. This patch seeks to right that wrong as there will be “new” takedown animations for the hidden blade, unarmed combat, single sword, and gunblade.

New Community Chests and Cosmetic Items
New Community Chests with hidden treasures are being added. Last time Community Chests were made, the community was able to find all the hidden chests when the devs planned to release a clue over days at a time. If this is anything like last time, it won’t be long before they’re all found.
On the official Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Discord server, the only hint given to us was this map. It’s possible that this is more than a mere map, but the amount of community treasures hiding has not been stated.

New cosmetic items can be earned by playing New Game+. We’ll be showing some of the outfits, and they only get gaudier and shinier.

There are also a couple of new trinkets afoot, an Assassin’s Logo with a skull and one of a framed picture of some feet. You might recognize this as the most liked screenshot shared in the game, the feet pic by xR0CKETTMANx.

Sometimes, taking a step in an odd direction can lead you to unexpected places. It’s an honor to have your screenshot be turned into a trinket due to it’s sheer popularity.
No Remake of the Freedom Cry DLC?
As the last major content update for Black Flag Resynced, it seems that there’s no hope left to see a remake of the Freedom Cry DLC. This was available for the original game and you would play as Adéwalé in his journey of becoming an Assassin.

This would have allowed you to travel around Haiti, an island you cannot explore in the base game. Adéwalé would have been investigating Templar activity with the French government and initiate raids against the slave trade.
Touching more on the brutality of the slave trade of this era would have been a great story addition. It was a horrific time as Adéwalé mentions how many slaves suffer terrible burns working at the sugar plantations due to the molten sugar.
Alas, it seems like we won’t be getting this DLC remade, which is a real shame. I missed having Adéwalé as my Quartermaster, one final hoorah would have been great.
