Templar Hunt is a series of quests that give you access to the Templar Armor outfit after you obtain the 5 Templar Keys for the Great Inagua cell in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced.

Use the Table of Contents, located in the left panel (top left button on the mobile menu) to navigate through this long guide more easily and quickly.

How to Unlock and Complete Templar Hunts

Early on in the game’s main storyline Kenway sells information about the Assassin Bureau’s locations to a group of Templars. Later in the adventure he has the chance to make things right, though even then he’s motivated by greed.

You’ll contact Assassins at 4 different locations and help them keep the Brotherhood safe. This help takes the form of an assortment of different quests, from reconnaissance and assassination to hunting a man-eating jaguar.

Templar Hunts are unlocked through playing the main story of the game. After completing the This Old Cove Main Quest all 4 Templar Hunt locations will show up in your map.

There are 4 different Templar Hunts that take place in Kingston, Cayman Sound, Havana, and Nassau. Each Templar Hunt is independent of the others so you can complete them in whichever order you prefer.

All of them have the same basic structure: Approach the Assassin you’ll be helping, do a series of quests for them, and assassinate the Templar leading the attack on the local Assassin Bureau.

As you complete the Templar Hunt quests, you will also obtain Templar Keys from each one. After you collect all five, you will complete the Damn Fine Gear side quest and be able to unlock the cell at the Great Inagua manor where the Templar Armor outfit is hanging onto a skeleton.

Templar Hunt – Antó

To start this Templar Hunt you must head to Kingston. Here you’ll meet with Antó a former slave that escaped from Jamaica and is currently the leader for the Kingston Assassin Bureau.

The Maroon Assassin

The first quest Antó gives you is to gather information about captive slaves. First you’ll need to head to a Tavern.

Inside this tavern near a pair of drunk British guards you’ll find a letter you can interact with, doing so will give you instructions to investigate the area near a church.

In front of the church steps you’ll see three guards whom you’ll have to follow. After going through an alley they’ll notice you following them and will run away. You must catch one of the guards and interrogate him.

The guard will tell you to look near the Windmill but you won’t have to do that now. After the cutscene ends this first quest will be complete.

Recruiting Maroons

To start the second quest you need to talk to Antó. This time around he’ll ask for your help liberating some of his men.

After following Antó for a short distance he’ll give you the 3 locations where his men are being held by British soldiers. Go to these locations, get rid of the enemies, and Release the captives.

After liberating his men you’ll be given a new objective to eliminate an officer. He’s patrolling through the city with four guards. Because they are close to a lot of buildings it’s easy to Assassinate him from above.

Once you eliminate the officer you’ll have to return to Antó, after a short cutscene this second quest will be complete.

Under Attack

To start this third quest you’ll need to find Antó in the Assassin Bureau. After talking to him, in the middle of a cutscene an attack on the Bureau will break out.

This quest consists of defending the location from several waves of attacks from British guards. The fourth and final wave will include a couple of sharpshooters on the rooftops, make sure to take them out first.

Once you successfully repel the attack Antó will tell you that it’s time to take down the Templar hunting them, but that will have to wait for the next and final quest.

The Commander’s Ruse

To start this quest you have to meet with Antó at a market. Here he will give you details about the man you need to kill: Kenneth Abraham.

First you’ll need to follow an officer who will lead you towards Abraham. If you get spotted you’ll have to kill the officer and loot him to read a letter with Abraham’s whereabouts.

Antó will lead you to a plantation where a party is being held. You can either silently infiltrate or go in guns blazing. The only objective is to kill Kenneth Abraham near the buffet.

As with every big objective, you’ll first have to take him down and Confirm the Kill afterwards. Doing so takes you into a cutscene in which Kenneth Abraham says his final words.

You’ll have to escape the party and become anonymous, afterwards head back to the Bureau and talk to Antó and with this you’ll have finished this Templar Hunt.

Templar Hunt – Opía Apito

To start this Templar Hunt head to Cayman Sound, a small Island on the southern edge of the Castillo de Jagua region. If this is your first time visiting Cayman Sound you’ll have to take down a couple of ships guarding the Island.

Once ashore locate and talk to Opía Apito, a young Taíno Assassin who became the Bureau’s leader thanks to her mastery of stealth.

She understandably mistrusts Edward’s intentions to help but accepts it anyway as a way of testing your skills.

The Taíno Assassin

During this first quest you have to follow Opía looking for clues to track a Man-eater White Jaguar that has been terrorizing the nearby villages.

After following her for a short distance you’ll split up. Soon after you’ll be able to see the White Jaguar with your Eagle Vision. Putting it to sleep with a Sleep Dart and approaching to assassinate it is the safest way to approach this section.

After a short cutscene the quest will be complete. You’ll receive a Digested Map Piece and a White Jaguar Pelt as rewards for the hunt and the Rabbit’s Foot trinket for completing this quest.

Templar Ships

To start this second quest you need to head to Grand Cayman, where you’ll find Opía on the dock right as you get off your ship.

This is a very short quest where you have to gather information about a man known as the King of Fishermen. You’ll have to follow this person and either pickpocket him or kill him and loot his corpse to get a letter.

Right Hand Man

This quest also takes place in Grand Cayman. After handing Opía the letter you got from the King of Fishermen she’ll come up with a plot to find your target, Templar Lucia Márquez.

She will ask you to hide inside a haystack outside of a house and wait for her to knock on the door. Afterwards a man named Vargas runs out of the house, kicking off a surprisingly exhilarating chase that starts on foot and continues as a ship pursuit.

You have to board Vargas’s ship and incapacitate him. This triggers a cutscene where you learn that Lucia Márquez has escaped.

The Trail of Lucia Márquez

This final quest takes place in the Pinos Isles Ruins. If you’ve never visited this location before be warned: there’s a Frigate and a Man o’ War guarding the place and you’ll need to take them out first.

After making it ashore you have to follow Opía stealthily and perform coordinated assassinations as you push deeper towards Lucia Márquez’s hiding place.

Once you make it to the center of the Ruins you have to eliminate 7 guards to bait Lucia out. Afterwards more guards start appearing, this time targeting Opía so you’ll need to defend her.

Once you get rid of all the attackers you have to find Lucia and kill her. You can use your Rope Dart to pull her towards you when she runs away, which can lead to a hilarious kill by making her fall down the stairs of a pyramid.

Either way you choose to assassinate her, you’ll have to approach her corpse and Confirm the Kill which will take you to the final cutscene of this quest.

Templar Hunt – Rhona Dinsmore

This Templar Hunt takes place in Havana. Here you have to approach Rhona Dinsmore, leader of the local Assassin Bureau, who is currently in the middle of a firefight with Spanish troops.

Rhona Dinsmore is a Scottish woman who ran away from a broken home at a very young age and a distressing marriage after that. Once she reached the West Indies she found her true calling as a member of the Brotherhood of Assassins.

Bureau Under Attack

In this quest you have to defend a small plaza from 3 waves of guards that are trying to eliminate Rhona.

Between each wave you’ll have 43 seconds to prepare for the next one. Small powder barrels are lying around that you can place at the different entrances to the plaza to take many guards out with a single explosion.

Once you’ve successfully repelled all attackers the quest will be done and Rhona will leave.

A Thief in the Market

To start this second quest you need to meet with Rhona on the roof of a house. She will ask you to investigate a series of robberies taking place in a market.

After talking with some of the vendors in the market you’ll have to hide in a hay cart or blend in by sitting on a bench. Soon after a pickpocket will show up and you’ll have to catch him.

He eventually reaches a dead end and pulls steel on you, leaving you no choice but to kill him. After you pickpocket him to find a map the quest will be complete.

Arms Race

To start this third quest you need to talk to Rhona back at the Bureau where the first firefight took place. She’ll read the letter you took from the pickpocket and send you to thwart the Templars’ plans by destroying 3 powder reserves.

You can destroy the powder reserves by igniting them up close or you can shoot them from afar with your pistols. Because all three locations are heavily guarded, it’s faster to just destroy them and run away instead of dealing with all the guards.

Flint’s End

After destroying the powder reserves meet with Rhona on the roof of a building. Here she’ll tell you her plan to get rid of Hilary Flint, the Templar who has been causing trouble for the Assassins in Havana.

The plan is straightforward: Rhona will attack them head-on to cause a distraction so you can slip in and kill Flint. Even though the objective suggests a stealthy approach, you can go in Pistol Swords blazing and just clear the area of all enemies.

After taking down Flint you’ll have to interact with his corpse to Confirm the Kill. The cutscene that follows lets you know that Rhona and Flint had an enemies-to-lovers-back-to-enemies situation going on.

You might need to escape the scene and become anonymous again after the cutscene. To finish this Templar Hunt you need to go back to the Bureau and talk to Rhona one last time.

Templar Hunt – Upton Travers

This Templar Hunt takes place in Nassau. It involves the betrayal and falling out between the Assassin brothers Vance and Upton Travers because of the scheming of Chinese Templar Jing Lang.

Oh Brother…

To start this first quest you have to talk to Vance Travers, who is standing on the front porch of a house. He will tell you he needs your help assassinating a Templar named Upton. At this point you don’t know it’s his own brother he’s trying to deceive you into killing.

You have to head to the market and tail Upton’s men back to his hideout. After following them for some time you’ll find Upton whom you are tasked to kill.

When you go for the assassination a cutscene starts where he sets the matter of his identity straight, and you both realize you’ve been played by Vance.

The Other Brother

To start the quest you have to meet with Upton. He will guide you to a point where he is meeting with his brother and intends to question him. You have to hide in a patch of tall flowers and eavesdrop on their conversation.

Afterwards Upton will lead you to Vance’s house where you’ll have to fight some pirates. Investigating the house you’ll find a letter from Jing Lang asking Vance to meet her near the Tavern.

You have to go to their meeting point and listen in on their conversation. You’ll learn that Vance is being manipulated by Jing Lang and that he’s hired a group of men to get rid of his brother.

After rushing back and dispatching the men trying to kill Upton, he’ll walk away disappointed and confused, and the quest will be over.

Upton’s Sorrow

You will next find Upton at the Tavern, drunk out of his mind. At this point he’s given up and it’s your task to get him to safety.

Which is no easy task because all the way through this “escort mission” he’ll get in trouble with sailors, dancers, and guards around town.

He moves very slowly thanks to his drunken state. Be patient with this quest, maybe listen to a couple of songs while doing it. Eventually you’ll reach an alley where you can talk to Upton and finish the quest.

Queen of Pirates, King of Fools

You’ll start this quest by talking to Upton at the edge of a swamp on the western side of town. He’ll be fully sober and ask you to assassinate both Jing Lang and his own brother, Vance.

Navigating the swamp can be bothersome so use the tree branches to move around. The place is riddled with Spanish guards and crocodiles. If you want to have a little fun try to get the crocodiles to fight the guards.

You have to reach Vance’s camp. Once you do so and assassinate him, you will immediately go into his death cutscene.

Afterwards, Jing Lang will be standing right behind you and try to run away. If she gets far enough she will lead you straight into an ambush.

After assassinating Jing Lang, during her death cutscene she’ll confess to being married to another man and to having just been using Vance all along.

You have to head back to Vance’s camp, where you’ll meet with Upton and give him the news. Upton will say his farewells, heartbroken, and this will be the end of the Templar Hunt.

Rewards and Achievement

After assassinating each Templar you’ll receive their Templar Key as a reward for your troubles. The first Templar Key is obtained by assassinating Julien du Casse as part of the A Single Madman Main Quest.

Templar Keys are linked to the Damn Fine Gear quest, where you have to collect five Templar Keys to unlock a cell at the manor in Great Inagua. Inside this cell you’ll find the Templar Armor outfit.

After completing a single Templar Hunt you’ll unlock the Help A Brother Out achievement.
