Having a pet accompany you aboard your ship is a fun part of the whole pirate experience in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced. Here’s everything you need to know about these animal friends.

How to Equip Shop Pets

Once you’ve unlocked a pet you can equip it through the lower-right option of the Inventory tab. After equipping a pet you’ll be able to see them and interact with them by going to the manor in Great Inagua or to the captain’s quarters aboard the Jackdaw. Additionally, while sailing they’ll be by your side while out of combat.

How to Unlock All Free Ship Pets

Currently, there are 5 pets you can unlock for free in-game or as part of limited-time release events:

Currently there are only monkeys and cats you can have as pets on your ship. With the game expected to have support for a long time, we might see the addition of new pets.

Albert the Monkey

You can find and acquire Albert the Monkey through the Monkey Business local event in Havana.

You have to travel to Havana, the local event takes place in the lower right corner of the city near the docks. If you quick-travel to the city, you’ll want to head left and keep going until you find the end of the docks.

Once you reach the location, on the docks you’ll overhear a couple sailors talking about a captain and how he killed a man and has his loyal monkey captured.

Swim over to the docked ship and eliminate all enemies aboard, after which you’ll be able to interact with Albert the Monkey, who is standing near his master’s corpse. Edward will then offer to have him on the Jackdaw.

Shipmate Monkey

Shipmate Monkey is a free limited-time reward part of a social media campaign for the release of the game. To unlock it, you have to go to the official Ubisoft reward redemption page through a link provided via Twitter.

Make sure you have your Ubisoft Connect session initiated, you’ll have to enter the code: ASC-BFR-PMK-000, after which you’ll be rewarded the Shipmate Monkey pet the next time you start the game.

Dark Animus Familiar

You unlock the Dark Animus Familiar through the Animus Projects.

First, head to the Animus section through the main menu and set “Eye in the Dark” as your active project. This will make it so that any Data Fragments you find on the map will count as progress for rewards available in this game.

The Dark Animus Familiar is the first reward available through the Eye in the Dark project. To unlock it you’ll need to acquire 600 Data Fragments. After reaching that goal, go to the Projects Rewards tab to claim your reward.

Soot the Cat

You can find and acquire Soot the Cat through the Cat Distribution System local event in Great Inagua.

In Great Inagua, go to the coordinates (819,441). Here, you’ll find on the roof of a house a cat surrounded by dead mice it hunted. Pet the cat, and after that you’ll unlock Soot the Cat as a pet for your ship.

Cheetah Claw Cat

This is a limited-time reward available through the Twitch Drops system. To unlock it, you have to link your Ubisoft Connect account to your Twitch account and watch 4 hours of Drops Enabled Streams for Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced.

To claim your reward you’ll have to visit the Twitch Drops and Rewards page, after doing this the next time you open the game the Cheetah Claw Cat will be in your inventory. This event ends on August 2, 2026
