In Black Flag Resynced, Ubisoft replaced the modern day sequences with Rifts – a new type of side quest where you encounter the Abstergo AI EGO and the rogue helper EAGLE.

What are Rifts in Black Flag Resynced?

Rifts are a new type of side quests in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced. The original game from 2013 did not offer these.

In Resynced, Ubisoft removed the modern day segments and replaced them with Rifts. Rifts first appeared in Assassin’s Creed Shadows and here Ubisoft continues with this approach in Resynced.

You unlock Rifts as you progress through Black Flag Resynced main storyline. They offer a unique perspective with an alternative “what if” twist.

An Abstergo AI leads you through several scenarios where it presents you with possible alternative scenarios for events from Edward’s story.

In these sequences, you will engage in a variety of tasks from platforming challenges and stealth sections, to regular fights and boss encounters.

Each Rift is unlocked as you progress through the story. You are not required to complete them as soon as you see the notification.

These quests will remain unlocked and available for you at any time. At the time of this guide’s publication, there are four Rift quests available.

How to Unlock Wayward Souls Rift?

Located on the southern coast of Great Inagua is the first Rift quest you can find in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced.

To unlock this quest, progress through the main story until the beginning of Sequence 4. This is at the end of the This Old Cove main quest. This is the moment right after Kidd leaves Great Inagua and you talk to Adewale to unlock the Officer Quests.

To start the Wayward Souls Rift Quest, sail to the south side of Great Inagua. There you’ll find the portal that lets you enter the Animus Rift.

Completing the Wayward Souls rift quest, will earn you the Lock of Hair rare trinket. Depending on your choices during the quest, you can earn extra 5,000 Reales.

How to Unlock Wayward Desires Rift

Wayward Desires is the second Rift quest you can find in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced. EGO presents you with another alternative to both history and your future, but such alternatives come with a price.

To unlock the Rift, progress through the main story until the beginning of Sequence 8, right after mourning Black Beard’s passing. The game will tell you the Wayward Desires quest is available.

To start this quest, fast travel to Nassau. This will put you on the Jackdaw right on the north side of the island. From here, it’s a matter of swimming to the small island right north of you to the coordinates (604,784). Here you’ll find the portal to access the rift quest.

After you complete the quest, you will be awarded the Queen Anne’s Revenge Wheel skin for the Jackdaw.

How to Unlock Wayward Minds Rift

Wayward Minds is the third Rift Quest you can find in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced. EGO, exasperated with your stubbornness, forces you to abandon your Creed.

To gain access to this one, progress through the main story until Sequence 11. This is after you’ve completed the main story quest Delirium, in which Edward hallucinates in a drunken stupor after the passing of Mary Read.

To start this quest, travel to coordinates (14,559). Here you’ll find the portal to access the Rift Quest.

The reward for completing this quest is the Don’t Forget Your Old Shipmate sea shanty.

How to Unlock True Purpose Rift

You face EGO in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced’s fourth Rift, True Purpose. To unlock this quest, you will have to complete Black Flag Resynced’s main story first. Roll the credits and when you are placed back on your Ship at Great Inagua, the prompt will appear.

To start True Purpose, travel to the small island at coordinates (363,176). The fastest way to get here is to fast travel to Fort Serranilla or Misteriosa then sail east.
