A large beetle known for its broad, thick body and prominent horn on its head. The male’s horn is used for fighting and attracting mates, and it is incredibly strong. It mainly feeds on tree sap and fruit. After going through a pupal stage, it becomes active in the summer, and thanks to its impressive appearance and strength, it is often called the king of insects.

How to Obtain

You can catch the Golden Rhinoceros Beetle at the Stjar Ruins in north Pailune. The location is south of Odeck village.

Additional Info

You can first obtain the Sighting of the Golden Rhinoceros Beetle if you want its location to marked on your map, but you are not required to purchase this document.

The Sighting and the Beetle itself were added with Update 2.04.00. They are part of the base game, not the paid DLC.

Catching the beetle will complete the Catch the golden rhinoceros beetle challenge from the Mysterious Animals challenges tab. The other challenges include the other two new Legendary Insects, the Hyacinth Macaw, and the Iron Eagle. It is possible the developers may add more with new patches.

The eagle and macaw were added to the game much earlier.

You can use the Kuku Insect Gatherer’s Pack, but you have to be quite close to the beetle. And it’s bright shiny gold, so it’s not going to be difficult to spot.
