Where to find the Sealed Abyss Artifacts that unlock all 12 of the Life challenges in Crimson Desert and tips on how to complete each one.
You can track your progress with the 12 Challenges in-game by navigating to Journal → Challenges → Life → (White Crow’s Gaze) Life.
These challenges primarily pertain to exploration and Knowledge acquisition and will most likely be some of the final challenges you complete. You can check your progress by looking at the associated sections in Journal → Knowledge.
Between Herbs and Poisons
You unlock Between Herbs and Poisons after picking up the Sealed Abyss Artifact along the road to Halbert Harpoonery in northeastern Pailune.
Challenge
Acquire all mushroom knowledge
Acquire all medicinal herb knowledge
Acquire all poisonous herb knowledge
Crystals in the Veins
You unlock Crystals in the Veins after picking up the Sealed Abyss Artifact along the road next to Crescent Lake, east of the Kingshield Mountains, in northwestern Demeniss.
Challenge
Acquire all mineral knowledge
Master of Meats
You unlock Master of Meats (previously called Animal Meat) after picking up the Sealed Abyss Artifact at the fork in the road east of Mystic Falls and The Ancient Rift in southern Pailune.

Acquire all meat knowledge
Tiny Citizens of Grasslands
You unlock Tiny Citizens of Grasslands after picking up the Sealed Abyss Artifact at the fork in the road to the Beast Hunter’s Camp in northern Pailune.
You also receive The Ashen’s Leather Cloak for completing this challenge.
Challenge
Acquire all insect and arthropod knowledge
Tips
Make sure you try to catch all bugs that show up as ??? throughout your entire adventure. It’s also helpful, if not essential, to use the Kuku Insect Pack.
The butterflies are the trickiest to get, but there are a few patches of flowers on the road out of Pailune City through Totemfelt and Svinholt Ranch that seem to have a chance to spawn a bunch of rare ones. If not, go bug hunting at Sandhaven on top of the butte southwest of Varnia in the Crimson Desert.
Pillars of the Earth
You unlock Pillars of the Earth (formerly called Acquire Timber) after picking up the Sealed Abyss Artifact along the road past Burhum south of the Forebearer’s Barrens in the western reaches of the Crimson Desert.

Obtain 5 normal timber through logging
Obtain 5 fine timber through logging
Obtain 5 flawless timber through logging
Tips
Timber quality depends on the type of axe used, so if you aren’t getting the kind of timber you need, use an upgraded version.
The Underwater Ecosystem
You unlock The Underwater Ecosystem after picking up the Sealed Abyss Artifact along the road around the Breezeblown Knoll near Musket First Outpost in northeastern Demeniss.

Acquire all freshwater fish knowledge
Acquire all saltwater fish knowledge
Acquire all legendary fish knowledge
Acquire all underwater wildlife knowledge
Tips
This is by far and away the most time-consuming challenge in the game and there’s a significant luck component to it. You have to go well out of your way to catch all the fish, some of which are not sold by fishermen or catchable through Mission Dispatches.
Feast for the Road
You unlock Feast for the Road (formerly called Provisions) after picking up the Sealed Abyss Artifact near Outlaw Canyon along the road between Urdavah and Varnia in the Crimson Desert.

Cook 3 dishes that can only be made with a special cooking tool
Artisan’s Touch
You unlock Artisan’s Touch (formerly Equipment) after picking up the Sealed Abyss Artifact outside Sunset Valley in southwestern Hernand.

Craft a one-handed sword at the smithy
Craft a bow at the smithy
Little Companions
You unlock Little Companions (formerly called Pets) after picking up the Sealed Abyss Artifact along the road around the Eastern Hills south of Tinkerton Dig Site in central Delesyia.
Challenge
Tame 30 unique pets
Bounty of the Earth
You unlock Bounty of the Earth after picking up the Sealed Abyss Artifact at the fork in the road northeast of Marni Mechworks in east central Delesyia.

Acquire all grain knowledge
Acquire all vegetable knowledge
Acquire all fruit knowledge
Tips
Visiting all grocers throughout Pywel should grant you the Knowledge required to complete this challenge.
Rare Relics of Existence
You unlock Rare Relics of Existence after picking up the Sealed Abyss Artifact near the elevated train tracks along the road between Gorthak and central Delesyia due east of Snaketail Wall.

Caves Exploration Log
You unlock Caves Exploration Log (formerly called The Fruit of Patience) after picking up the Sealed Abyss Artifact along the road between Whisperleaf Fortress and Longleaf in northwestern Pailune.
You receive The Ashen’s Leather Boots for completing this challenge.

Acquire 100 caves knowledges
Tips
Some of the more labor-intensive Ancient Ruins puzzles give you a consumable Memory item that reveals all the caves in that region. Use these to help keep track visiting caves until you crack 100.
