Where to find the Sealed Abyss Artifacts that unlock all 10 of the Special Equipment challenges in Crimson Desert and how to complete each one.
You can track your progress with the Special Equipment Challenges in-game by navigating to Journal → Challenges → Mastery → (Goyen’s Advice) Special Equipment.
Many of the Special Equipment items have regular destructible versions alongside their indestructible Kuku versions. Both usually count towards completing the challenge, but not always.
Special Weapon: Flamespitter
You unlock Special Weapon: Flamespitter after picking up the Sealed Abyss Artifact on the road beside some Desert Ruins in the Trader’s Expanse up by Varnia in the Crimson Desert.
Challenge
Burn 10 enemies within 15 seconds with the Flamespitter
Tips
The only slightly tricky part of this challenge is getting an Electromagnetic Flamespitter in the first place.
Special Weapon: Propeller Spear
You unlock Special Weapon: Propeller Spear after picking up the Sealed Abyss Artifact along the road between Urdavah and Varnia in the Crimson Desert.
Challenge
Hit 5 enemies at once with the Propeller Spear’s wind attack
Tips
The wind attack has charges, each of which has a cooldown, so it’s best to wait until you have a group of enemies stacked up nice and tight before you start blastin’.
Special Weapon: Knuckledrill
You unlock Special Weapon: Knuckledrill after picking up the Sealed Abyss Artifact at the fork in the road between Burhum, the Cloister of Enlightenment, and Izvatu Fortress in the Tashkalp region of the Crimson Desert.
Challenge
Hit the explosion from the overheated Knuckledrill 5 times
Tips
The Knuckledrill overheats and explodes if you hold it down long enough. You get credit towards completing this challenge each time you hit an enemy with that explosion. It works great against Stoneback Crabs.
Special Weapon: Lightning Spear
You unlock Special Weapon: Lightning Spear after picking up the Sealed Abyss Artifact along the road connecting Tomasso to Arcosa in the Tashkalp region of the Crimson Desert.
Challenge
Defeat 30 enemies with the Lightning Spear
Tips
You’ll need to make multiple Lightning Spears or rely on the Kuku Lightning Spear to complete this challenge unless you use another weapon until the final hit, but that’s tedious and you have better things to do.
Special Weapon: Bismuth Spear
You unlock Special Weapon: Bismuth Spear after picking up the Sealed Abyss Artifact at the fork in the road through Svinholt Ranch in northern Pailune.
Challenge
Defeat 30 enemies with the Bismuth Spear
Tips
Just like with the Lightning Spear challenge, you’ll need to make a couple of Bismuth Spears or use the Kuku Bismuth Spear to mitigate the durability limitation.
Special Armor: Lightning Bolt Plate Armor
You unlock Special Armor: Lightning Bolt Plate Armor after picking up the Sealed Abyss Artifact along the road south of Marni’s Laboratorium Gate on Crowtalon Isle in eastern Delesyia.
Challenge
Obtain Titan’s armor
Tips
This challenge automatically completes as soon as you get Titan, the Thunder God’s, armor and does count retroactively if you have already obtained it or upgraded it to the Kuku version.
Special Weapon: Gale Shield
You unlock Special Weapon: Gale Shield after picking up the Sealed Abyss Artifact at the fork in the road outside of Demeniss Barracks near Horseshoe Lake in eastern Demeniss.
Challenge
Defeat 30 enemies with the Gale Shield
Tips
The Gale Shield is destructible and has no Kuku version at the time of publishing. Since it deals very little damage, so you’ll need to make a bunch of them to complete this challenge. Use the Shield Bash, Charge, and Rush Skills to deal damage with your Shield.
Special Weapon: Marni Laser Helm
You unlock Special Weapon: Marni Laser Helm after picking up the Sealed Abyss Artifact at the fork in the road connecting to the Sanctum of Devotion in western Delesyia.
Challenge
Hit 5 enemies with the Marni Laser Helm’s laser
Tips
This one is super easy. You just have to use the helm’s skill to lock onto 5 enemies at once and then fire it.
Special Weapon: Shotgun Shield
You unlock Special Weapon: Shotgun Shield after picking up the Sealed Abyss Artifact along the road and cross the river from Ironbarrel Armory in eastern Demeniss.
Challenge
Defeat 30 enemies with the Shotgun Shield
Tips
Shotgun Shields break after enough use, and you’ll need a bunch to defeat 30 enemies with them. The shotgun part doesn’t deal that much damage and requires you to block with the shield, which reduces its durability further, so focus on defeating enemies with Shield Bash, Charge, and Rush.
Special Weapon: Vessel of Dark Pursuit
You unlock Special Weapon: Vessel of Dark Pursuit after picking up the Sealed Abyss Artifact at the fork in the road past Totemfelt north of Pailune City.
Challenge
Defeat 100 enemies with the Vessel of Dark Pursuit
Tips
You receive the Vessel of Dark Pursuit for defeating Antumbra’s Sword at the Sanctum of Absolution between Kharonso and the Mountain of Frozen Souls in southwestern Hernand.
