Pearl Abyss knows no rest. Crimson Desert’s DLC, “Charting the Unknown” brings new bosses, underwater exploration, home building system, and new story.

Crimson Desert is not a live service game, but its developer, Pearl Abyss, treats it as if it was one. This is one of the best supported games in its post-launch history since its release back in March.

What is included in the DLC?

The DLC was officially confirmed back in June, and today Pearl Abyss gave us a first glimpse into the new content that will ship with it. Here is a list of new features and content part of “Charting the Unknown” DLC:

  • New Boss Encounters – new and more challenging encounters means more opportunities for us to test our perfected builds.
  • Underwater Exploration – you will be able to swim underwater and explore the depths of the oceans surrounding Pywel.
  • Your own Ship – fans of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced will have a new ocean to conquer! You will take control of your own ship to explore new islands off the coast.
  • Upgraded Housing Mode – the new system will allow you to rent and manage a variety of facilities, including building your own home.
  • New Story – The new narrative will throw you into dangerous political conflict, and will task you with exploring new secrets in the Crimson Desert.

DLC Price and availability

Pearl Abyss is not wasting time. The DLC is already available for pre-order on all platforms where the game is accessible (except for Mac, where it will not be available at launch). DLC Pre-Order Bonus

Charting the Unknown DLC Announcement Trailer

The announcement of the new DLC’s release date, came with a ~2-minute long trailer. Check it out below.

How to Prepare for the DLC

Charting the Unknown DLC launches on October 15th, 2026 at exactl 10 PM UTC. Knowing Pearl Abyss, expect a ton of new quests and exploration opportunities.

October 15 is far away enough so even if you are just starting now, after the 20% discount and the release of the 2.0 Enhanced Edition, and if you are the “150 hours in and still in Hernand”, you’d still have plenty of time to complete at least the main story.

The Enhanced Edition improved the main storyline by adding additional and improving existing cinematics, and adding new documents and lore for you to better understand the complex chain of events Kliff finds himself in the middle of.

We are getting new and more challenging bosses and other combat encounters. It’s worth min-maxing Kliff’s stats at least. This will give you a good starting point for when the new content arrives.

The game offers a ridiculous amounts of Challenges and Puzzles you can complete to earn a ton of Abyss Artifacts to unlock and upgrade up all three playable characters.
