Pearl Abyss released yet another massive patch for Crimson Desert. Update 1.08.00 continues the tradition of delivering new contetn and meaningful quality-of-life improvements every single week to this non-live-service game!
1.08.00 Highlights
As the patch notes state, the most important additions are the new Tools Slot and the addition of many new Pets, including a Baby Wyvern.
But there are a ton more awesome changes we will highlight below before we let you dive into the full patch notes to discover even more little tweaks.
New Tools Slot
Up until now, the tools for mining, logging and all other chores you could (and should!) do, were occupying the same slot as the secondary (two-handed) weapon slot.
As of 1.08.00, there is a new slot added in the bottom right of the gearing UI module and on the pop-up circle.

This significantly improves the management of the two-handed weapons slot. You can also select the right tool for the job much quicker now. A double-win!
The full list of tools that now go into the new slot includes:
- logging axe
- mallet
- shovel
- broom
- scythe
- pickaxe
- drill/chainsaw
- fan
You might notice that the Masks slot is now gone from this circle menu. It was moved to the Armors tab. It was only logical, because this is technically an “armor”.

The Quick Swap keybind continues to switch to the two most recently used items. Because now the Tools have a dedicated slot, it also counts. This means that if you have your two-handed sword up, then use a Tool, and then press Quick Swap, it will switch back to the two-handed sword.
The new Pond in the Greymane Camp
You can now build a new fish pond for your Greymane Camp. This new mission is a one-time build process and takes 2 in-game days to complete.

You can release fish into the pond where it will swim around and… multiply (if you have multiple from the same species). To release fish into the pond, select it from your Inventory. Alternatively, you can use the pond’s management system to do that.
To access the Pond Management UI, stand near the Pond and use the same key that activates the Decoration Mode for your House. You will notice the icon in the right-hand side of the screen.

If you exceed the capacity of the pond, fish may start to die, but if you release legendary fish there, it will never die and will always be present in the pond.
Additionally, you can no longer sell, use, or discard legendary fish. This is a simple, but effective method to prevent you form accidentally losing a legendary fish you have caught while doing the (still) annoying Inventory Management.
New Pets and one unique Baby Wyvern
20 new species of small animals and a unique Baby Wyvern can now be registered as pets. I think we need more pet slots too, Pearl Abyss!
The unique thing about the baby Wyvern is that in an upcoming update, you will be able to turn it into an actual mount when it grows up. Pearl Abyss did not state when is this update coming, but with their current pace of releasing updates to Crimson Desert, we may as well expect it in a day or three…
Pets are invaluable with their ability to collect loot or help you collect the fruits of your labor at the camp’s garden. But you can accidentally pet them. This is not longer a problem as 1.08.00 has resolved this. You can now only pet pets only if you first press the Interact button first (aim at them).

TexYou can find the Baby Wyvern egg in the same cave where the Skyblazer Cloth Helm is located, in southwest Delesyia. Then hatch it in a nearby Wyvern’s Nest.
Make Outlaws SHUT THE F*** UP!
A new function now exists allowing you to silence tied-up outlaws. Outlaws yapping and blabbing constantly while you transport them to prison, was one of the most frustrating and annoying moments in the game.
It’s fun the first few times, but if you play as a true Bounty Hunter and collect all the available bounties, listening to them talk all the time, gets old really fast.
While you are transporting the outlaw (on your back or on your horse, in the bottom right corner, you will see a new keybind to “Silence” the outlaw.

After certain amount of time has passed, the outlaw will talk again. You can use the the same keybind to make them shut up again.
Our proposed strategy to put them to sleep, from our Bounties and Bounty Hunting guide still works, if you prefer that approach. It also saves you the segment where you have to tackle and hit them a few times before you can tie them up.
Other important and interesting improvements
We have a bunch more smaller changes and improvements we’d like to add to the top part of this article before you jump into full patch notes. Just trying to make sure you notice these because we think they are very interesting and quite important.
Skip Materials check for Refinement
We have been asking Pearl Abyss for a bulk-refine feature, similarly to how we can bulk un-refine items’ levels, but it is not added (sadly) in 1.08.00. However, Pearl Abyss did add with 1.08 the ability to directly refine an item without going through the craftign material selection.

Kliff can use Muskets and Shotguns
Kliff can now use muskets and shotguns. Alongside this change, the Infinite Arrows Abyss Gear to work on bullets and cannonballs as well. This change will allow you to complete the related challenges quicker and unlock their respective achievements.
Controls Improvements
A key change from today’s patch is the ability to assign secondary keybinds for all controls. This applies to Keyboard and Mouse.

A new keyboard shortcut was added to allow you to access directly Photo Mode without having to jump through several menus. It’s P by default on PC.
Blinding Flash while riding Blackstar
The hunt for Abyss Artifacts just became even easier. You can now use Blinding Flash while mounted on the back of the dragon. Of course, you have to first unlock Blackstar through the main story, in Chapter XI.

Separate Markers on the Map for Ground vs Abyss
You can now place separate markers on the Ground and in the Abyss. When a marker is placed on the ground, it will not be visible from the Abyss and vice versa.
Search and Filter Skills by Weapon
A new feature allows you to filter by weapon type and search for a specific skill or skill upgrade in the Skills menu. This would be helpful when you are not certain where a specific ability or skill perk was located in the Skill Tree. It works similarly to the Map Filter and is available in the bottom right corner in the Skills menu.

Completed Knowledge categories checkmark
There is a new green check mark now placed in the lower left corner of the tabs for Knowledge sub-categories that you have completed. This is just a visual feature to let you more easily and quickly spot where you are missing entries for you 100% completion.

After you have spent 400-800 hours playing and actually finishing the game, the most logical thing is to want to also collect all Knowledge. Of course.
