How to Rematch Bosses in Crimson Desert

The Boss Rematch system in Crimson Desert allows you to fight against powerful foes you have defeated previously during your adventures. You can choose to fight them in their original state, or up the challenge.

What is Boss Rematch

Boss Rematch is a new feature added to Crimson Desert in Patch 1.05.00. It allows you to fight again previously defeated bosses. You can practice, test new Abyss Gears and strategies.

It was added in 1.05.00, but the developers plan to expand and improve it. Currently, it’s nothing more than a training ground and fun experience with no additional rewards.

There are 69 (nice!) bosses currently available as of this publication that you can summon for a rematch after you have defeated them as part of the natural game progress.

How to Summon previously Defeated Bosses

The Rematch feature is available as a Memory. You need to have the Visione. You can see a full list of bosses in Journal → Knowledge → Memory Fragments → Bosses

Open the Bosses tab under Memory Fragments and select a boss. In the bottom right corner of your screen, you will see a button allowing you to directly open the map to the boss’s location.

Go to a location on the map where you previously fought a boss and use your Lantern or Blinding Flash. The locations appear on both the world map as well as on the mini map.

The easiest way to spot Boss Rematch icons from a zoomed-out map, is to use the Environment tab. They do appear in the “All” mode as well, but you have to zoom in to see them.

A red shadowy shape of the boss will appear and in the top left corner, a memory fragment will trigger. You will then see a prompt on your screen.

Choose your Character

During the main story, you may remember being forced to play against certain bosses with a specific character. For a Rematch, you are free to choose between all three. Kliff, Oongka and Damiane can all play a Rematch vs an old boss.

Select the playable character you want to play. Go to the location where to boss is, and read the memory to spawn it. This is a perfect opportunity to get some more fun playtime with Oongka and Damiane.

Available Game Modes

There are currently two modes you can use to rematch the bosses: Reminisce and Resonate. These modes affect only the stats and “beafiness” of the bosses. The rest is governed by the Game Difficulty mode, which was added in Patch 1.04.00.

Reminisce

Allows you to fight the boss exactly as you faced it originally the first time. If you have upgraded your armor and slotted powerful Abyss Gears, lots of new Skills and Abilities, the fight would be trivial. Even more so than it may have been the first time around.

Resonate

In this mode, the boss’s stats will scale up to match the player’s progression. The bosses will not gain new abilities or animations. This mode only works if the player’s stats are higher than the original boss’s stats.

If not, you will face the same tough encounter you have beaten the first time. The system would not allow the boss to become “too powerful”.

Consumables and Rewards

At the moment, there are no rewards for defeating a boss in a Rematch. The only positives are fun experience fighting something that you struggled with originally to perfect your strategy and develop the ultimate build.

Any items you consume during a Rematch with a boss, will be returned to their values and numbers from before you entered that Memory. This means you do not have to cook and brew in bulk for rematches.
