A mystical artifact concealing its true power. Some see it as nothing more than a fallen stone from the sky, while others view it as a beautiful treasure. Those aware of its grand potential seek to possess it to fuel their greed. Yet, those who truly comprehend its worth are rare.
How to Obtain
There are several methods to obtain Abyss Artifact and if you stick for long enough with the game and complete its various challenges and other content, you will end up with enough Abyss Artifacts to fully unlock all skills of all three playable characters and have enough left over to upgrade their gear to the max.
Earn Abyss Artifacts through XP
As you fight and complete quests and objectives, you will earn experience points (XP). This is measured by the gold bar that curves around the left side of your minimap. Each time you fill up this bar, you earn one Abyss Artifact.

There is a hard limit, however. This is not an infinite resource of Abyss Artifacts, though you will not reach it easily and quickly.
Earn Abyss Artifacts from Quests
Some quests, it’s not really very common, will award you with Abyss Artifacts upon completion. This includes main quests, side quests, and boss encounters.
Collect Abyss Artifacts from Abyss Cressets
As you explore Pywel, you will encounter Abyss Cressets. Sometimes they are out in the open, sometimes they are hidden deep inside caverns and caves. When you interact with them, the Abyss Cressets yield Abyss Artifacts, one per Cresset.
There is a special challenge in the Challenges menu:
Journal → Challenges → Exploration → (Wandering Footsteps) Secret Places
It tracks your progress with finding all Secret Places, which contain an Abyss Cresset.

An added bonus is that these pillars act as Teleportation spots and you can use them to quickly spawn your character next to one you have already discovered.
We have a complete guide to all 60 Secret Places in Crimson Desert. Use it to discover and obtain Abyss Artifacts more quickly and easily.
Earn Abyss Artifacts from Challenges and Puzzles
There are numerous puzzles you will encounter in Pywel. Solving them, completes their associated Challenges in the Challenges menu, and this awards you with an Abyss Artifact per challenge. Sometimes they offer other exclusive and unique rewards too.
You’ll find Sealed Abyss Artifacts along the road or at Shrines. They’re a lot easier to get than their unsealed brethren, but you have to complete a Challenge before you can get the skill point.
Below is the list of all available challenges grouped exactly as you will see them in your game’s Journal → Challenges page.
Note that the first group, Exploration, yields directly an Abyss Artifact upon completion. The rest are tied to Sealed Abyss Artifacts that you need to find first, then complete their associated challenges to earn Abyss Artifacts.
