Learn how to unlock The Witch of Wisdom quest in Crimson Desert, where to find the Sanctums, and tips to deal with the Antumbra Order.
Quest Structure and Rewards
This quest is unlocked after reading the unsealed letter that you get from Damiane during the main quest, The Missing Seal.
After visiting Elowen the Witch at the start of Chapter V, you’ll be sent away to cleanse four different Sanctums. All of them are occupied by a cult known as the Antumbra Order, with the last one also having a boss fight.
- Chapter: V. Black and White
- Requirements: Progress until The Missing Seal quest.
- Main Quest: The Witch of Wisdom
- Recommended Abilities: Blinding Flash, Axiom Force, Force Palm, Keen Senses
- Rewards: Blue Lavender x20, Peony x20, Small Bone x20, Empty Bottle x20, Alchemy Formula: Freya’s Lesser Elixir, Witch’s Token
Please note that the rewards listed above are only for the Witch of Wisdom Questline. Every Sanctum has its own rewards and hidden items, which are listed in each individual walkthrough.
The Witch of Wisdom
You must go to a small house southeast of The Witchwoods. The vines surrounding it will give it away. There is a small group of bandits nearby. They will attack you on sight, but they are not dangerous enemies. Once they’re dead, go inside.

There are multiple traps on the floor. Make sure to move away whenever you see the red glow. There are two ways to enter the house: through the hole in the roof or by using a key to unlock the door. You will find a tied woman named Tanya inside.

After releasing Tanya, she will disappear and say, “You are welcome to visit my abode”. The next step is to meet Elowen the Witch. She is in a house in The Witchwoods.

Elowen is going to send you to cleanse four different Sanctums, which are now plagued by a dark group known as The Antumbra Order. After completing this task, you must return to Elowen to claim the rewards.
Facing the Antumbra Order
This Questline involves cleansing occupied Sanctums. You first need to get rid of the Antumbra Order zealots before being able to interact with the puzzles.
The Antumbra Order is mostly filled with two types of enemies: a majority wielding melee weapons, and a reduced number that can fly and cast shadows.
The second type is the most dangerous and annoying of the lot by far. Having to deal with them while being overrun by the sword and axe wielders is not fun, but luckily for you, there is an easy way to get rid of them.

To kill these flying enemies, simply use Blinding Flash to reflect the light against them. There is no death animation; they just disappear.

Arrows or Aerial Force Palm can work as well, but I don’t recommend this slower and less efficient method because the NPCs are very fast.
It’s possible to clear the Sanctums of these enemies at any time, but if you haven’t talked to Elowen, you will not be able to cleanse the Sanctums.

Sanctum of Temperance
The Sanctum of Temperance is located east of the Hernan Highlands and south of the Goldleaf Guildhouse, the place where you fought and defeated Kailok, the Hornsplitter.

Sanctum of Penitence
You can find the Sanctum of Penitence on the east side of Hernand. Southeast of Unicorn Cliff, very close to the Pororin Forest.

Sanctum of Benediction
The Sanctum of Benediction is located in western Hernand. Right under the E of the Hernand sign on the in-game map.

Sanctum of Absolution
You can find the Sanctum of Absolution far south of the Scholastone. Northwest of the Mountain of Frozen Souls.

To fully clear this Sanctum, you also need to defeat Antumbra’s Sword. One of the three minor bosses of the Antumbra Order. This guy can be overwhelming, so I recommend that you come prepared with lots of food and decent gear.
