Learn how to complete the Ancient Barrier puzzle in Crimson Desert. This barrier stands between you and the Thunder God. Activating it will allow you to summon him for a fight, but the area is treacherous and foggy. This guide will show you how to navigate and solve the puzzle!

How to unlock the Ancient Barrier Quest

To access this area, you’ll need to complete Chapter VII: Homecoming. Afterwards, work on Faction Quests in Pailune. It’ll start with the Pailune Militia which unlocks the Skoghorn Tribe, then the Longleaf Tribe, and finally the Stjar Clan.

The Stjar Clan faction quests is what sets your journey to Windsong Peaks into motion. After defeating the Jackals in the village, you’ll talk to the chief of Skallcove and start the quest, Ancient Barrier.

Ancient Barrier

After completing The Clue for Chaos, you’ll start the Ancient Barrier quest. Go to Scorched Mountain to activate the broken ancient lightning device. Though you’ll meet some foes along the way.

Fighting Titan’s Minions

You’ll encounter groups of Titan’s Minions on your way to the lightning device. Use a triple Force Palm to quickly dispatch them. Don’t forget to pick up the Abyss Cells they drop as these are good for making Abyss Gears.

Connect the Ancient Lightning Device

When you reach and climb up the Ancient Lightning Device, you’ll see five crystals fixed on top of pillars. These represent the status of five Lightning Coil Pillars in the area. These pillars will redirect lightning and fire it horizontally in a target direction.

Your goal is to realign these pillars to form a loop in order to activate the device. Start by going east of the central platform and work your way around clockwise.

You should be able to see these pillars on the map if you zoom in enough. Marking them will make navigation much easier as the weather here can get foggy.

Lightning Coil #1

The first coil is the one closest to the ancient lightning device to the east. Travel here and don’t mess with it, it’s already good to go. Look where it redirects the lightning and follow that direction to reach the second coil.

Lightning Coil #2

The second coil will need repairs. Use Nature’s Grasp to life the pillar and place it onto the pedestal. There’s also an Abyss Nexus nearby, be sure to activate it.

The bar you use to push the pillar also points the direction lightning will be redirected. It’s rather fickle as even the slightest push will greatly augment the destination. Point it west towards pillar #3 and visually confirm it lands before moving on.

Lightning Coil #3

This coil is already good to go. You can reach this easily from coil #2 by using Focused Aerial Roll. Follow the direction of its lightning to find coil #4 if you can’t see due to fog.

Lightning Coil #4

This coil has a wheel you’ll need to rotate. Rotate it until sparks fly out, then exit and press the button to activate the coil. Do not rotate the coil, it’s good to go at this point.

Lightning Coil #5

The fifth and final coil will be in disrepair. Use Force Palm to break the pillar free from the ice and place it into the pedestal. No need to rotate it as this will complete the loop.

Activate the Ancient Lightning Device

Return to the central device and stand in the center to activate it. This will summon Titan further up the mountain.

Make any final preparations

Shortly before the area you fight Titan is an Abyss Nexus. Use it and make any final preparations you may need. Restock on food, honey tea, or make more Shockward gears if you have the ability to. You should have gained 9 Abyss Cells at this point from fighting Titan’s Minions.

When you are ready, advance towards the stone area littered with blades where Titan the Fallen God awaits.
