The Screaming Vault Puzzle Walkthrough in Crimson Desert

Adrian by Adrian|

The Screaming Vault is home to one of Crimson Desert’s many hidden puzzles. Find out the exact location of these ruins and how to solve the puzzle within to claim an Abyss Artifact.

Where to find the Vault

The Screaming Vault is located on northeast of the Demeniss West Gate. You will see the big question mark on your map far under the “D”. Depending on your main story progressed, you might encounter hostile enemies in the nearby areas.

How to enter the ruins

All you have to do is take the stairs and you’ll be almost there. There is a chamber filled with arrows and spikes. You can simply cross this room by sprinting and not stopping.

Puzzle Layout

There’s a room with three cells at the left, center, and right sides.

You will see one disc inside each cell, all of them with different patterns. If you have solved puzzles like this before, you know that each disc must be in the right position in order to solve the puzzle. The question is, how do you learn the required position for each disk?

The answer lies in the map that is on the wall of two of the three cells. The Screaming Vault can be located at the bottom left of the map, and the three red crosses marked the locations of the scarecrows that indicate the right positions for each disc.

If you want to solve it by yourself, this is the moment to stop. Aside from the Screaming Vault, locating the Flame Knights Castle on this map is key to find the second and third scarecrows.

Scarecrow Locations

First Scarecrow

The first scarecrow is located right above the question mark of the locked Abyss Cresset. There are multiple scarecrows; but an easy way to spot the right one is by looking at the strange texture of the terrain around it.

Second Scarecrow

The second scarecrow is close to the upper left side of the “D” on your map.

Third Scarecrow

The third and final scarecrow is northwest of the Flame Knights Castle. This place might be filled with enemies depending on your story progress.

Puzzle Solution

Now that you know the right positions, return to the Screaming Vault and match the discs with them.

Note: These discs WILL NOT stop perfectly at their correct positions, though they do have the same quarter-turn stops as similar puzzles. Keep this in mind while turning them and try to match them as closely as possible.

When properly turned, our discs will look like this on the walls of the pit:

When all three discs are correctly aligned, the Abyss Cresset will appear from above, granting you an Abyss Artifact and the Memory of turbulence.

You’re probably familiar with Abyss Artifacts by now; they give skill points and are required to upgrade some equipment.

The Memory of Turbulence gives you Knowledge about secret caves in Demeniss including:

  • Well of Tragedy Grotto
  • Crescent Cave
  • Lunar Spirit Grotto
  • Mistshard Cave
  • Firefly Haven Cave

If you enjoy this type of puzzles, you will find a similar one in Demeniss, for example. The Secret Chamber of the Golden Plains Ruins Puzzle will send you exploring the region looking for symbols to push the corresponding tiles on the wall inside the chamber. And, of course, we have a guide for it, if you prefer to just get to the solution
