How to get the Frostcursed Plate Armor in Crimson Desert: Overview and Stats

Endonae by Endonae|

This guide will show you what the Frostcursed Plate set looks like, what unique benefits it provides, and how to get it in Crimson Desert!

Appearance

The Frostcursed Plate set is obtainable by all players in Crimson Desert and features skeletal plate wrapped in chains and tattered cloth. It is the armor set worn by Skull Knight the Frostwarden.

Be sure to take up the Frost Mantle when using this set! With some custom dye job, you can make it pure black or black and shades of gray.

This is one of the two armor sets that visually resembles Sauron’s appearance. However, we prefer to call Plate Armor of the Shadows the Sauron set, because it demands that you face and defeat Beloth, the Darksworn.

Sauron is the main antagonist in J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings. His ambition to rule over Middle-earth fuels his actions. He is the creator of the magic rings as well as The One Ring (“to rule them all”).

Stats

The Frostcursed Plate set consists of 7 partially upgradeable pieces. It is wearable by Kliff only.

While the set boasts high Defense thanks to its Plate Armor foundation, the upgrade path and number of Abyss Gear sockets are unique.

The base Frostcursed Plate Armor is not upgradeable, but you can take it to Kilnden Workshop to upgrade it to Kuku Ice-Resistant Armor, which comes upgraded to Tier 5. The Frostcursed Plate Cloak is not upgradeable at all but features 5 Ice Resistance.

When combined, you get full immunity to Ice, making this the perfect set to wear when fighting Beloth, the Darksworn, and one of the best armor sets in the game.

It’s also worth noting that while the chestpiece lacks any Abyss Gear sockets, it does have a special ability and offer Movement Speed Lv 3 alongside Plate-level Defense, making for a compelling combination.

Acquisition

You can obtain the Frostcursed Plate set from 6 separate locations spread across the edges of Demeniss.

Frostcursed Helmet Location

You can loot the Frostcursed Plate Helm from a treasure chest at Chattering Rocks in the Tariv Sorcerers’ lands in northwestern Demeniss. You’ll need to burn the vines blocking access to the chest.

Frostcursed Chestpiece Location

Remember, the base Frostcursed Plate Armor is not upgradeable, but you’ll need it to make the Kuku Ice-Resistant Armor that is upgradeable and comes with some unique effects.

Frostcursed Plate Armor

You can loot the Frostcursed Plate Armor from Mistshard Cave, a waterfall cave north of Deadfire Mountain and east of the Spire of Frost near the border between Demeniss, Pailune, and the Crimson Desert.

Since the Frostcursed Plate Armor is not upgradeable, there is little reason to wear it by the time you reach Demeniss. Instead, you’ll want to upgrade it to the Kuku Ice-Resistant Armor.

Kuku Ice-Resistant Armor

You can craft the Kuku Ice-Resistant Armor at Kilnden Workshop in Hernand after obtaining the Blueprint for it.

The Blueprint for Kuku Ice-Resistant Armor is your reward for cleansing the Sanctum of Devotion in Delesyia.

You’ll need the Frostcursed Plate Armor, the Core of Exaltation, an Enhanced Kuku Pot, and a Power Core – Crown of Shadows.

Frostcursed Cloak Location

You can loot the Frostcursed Cloak from a treasure chest hidden in a crawlspace at the Sanctum of Expiation, which is located west of Tariv near the border between Hernand and Demeniss.

The entrance to the crawlspace is beneath a weird outcropping you’ll have to crouch to climb up into. It’s a little bit of a maze and there are some spike traps.

Make sure you clear out all the members of the Antumbra Order before you go treasure hunting so you can teleport out if needed.

Frostcursed Gloves Location

You can loot the Frostcursed Plate Gloves from a chest in Lunar Spirit Grotto, a waterfall cave on the northeast side of the Stones of Time, due west of Tariv in Demeniss.

Frostcursed Boots Location

You can loot the Frostcursed Plate Boots from a chest in the Well of Tragedy Grotto, a waterfall cave northwest of Tariv in Demeniss.

Frostcursed Sword Location

You can loot Frozen Anguish, the Skull Knight’s sick blue zwiehander from a chest underneath the staircase on the ground floor of the Spire of Frost in the northwestern corner of Demeniss.

Frostcursed Necklace Location

While it isn’t officially related to the Skull Knight, we recommend pairing the Frostcursed Plate set with the Blizzard Crystal Necklace because it offers BiS stats and matches thematically.

You can craft the Blizzard Crystal Necklace with Accessories of the World, Vol. IV, which you can get from the Research Institute at the Great Gate of Urdavah in the Crimson Desert.

After obtaining and upgrading this set (as much as you can and wish to), you can face Beloth, the Darksworn. He is one of three Overwhelming Beings in Crimson Desert and will reward you the crown (helm), part of the Plate Armor of the Shadows.
