This guide will show you what the complete Odeck’s Protector Plate set looks like, what unique benefits it provides, and how defeat the person wearing it, The Forgotten General, in Crimson Desert!
Use the Table of Contents, located in the left panel (top left button on the mobile menu) to navigate through this long guide more easily and quickly.
Appearance
The Odeck’s Protector Plate set is obtainable by all players in Crimson Desert and features traditional Korean-style overlapping plate armor (called gyeongbeongap) combined with deep red tattered fabric. This armor set is worn by Odeck’s Protector, the Forgotten General.

The included wooden shield, club mace, and bow, are not officially part of the set, but they mention Odeck by name.
The stark contrast between shiny plate made with an advanced forge and the simple wood complement they’d be able to get from the land evoke a “forgotten general and exiled force” is an East Asian trope.
Stats
The core Odeck’s Protector Plate set consists of 6 fully upgradeable pieces and a few optional additions. Despite the Forgotten General being a lady, this set is wearable solely by Kliff.
As Plate Armor, it features maximum Defense raw unarmed Attack Power. The Cloak provides a foundation for Tier I Ice Resistance that can be completed with Frostward II or higher and the helm offers Daze Immunity.

Acquisition
You can obtain the entire core of the Odeck’s Protector Plate set by defeating the Forgotten General in Pailune. You can find everything but the Awakened Spirit Spear and the Mysterious Gift elsewhere as well.
Since defeating The Forgotten General will probably be the last major thing you do in the game, it’s beneficial that you can obtain almost the entire set elsewhere and actually get to use it for more of your playthrough.
You can’t fuse both copies of the armor set to upgrade it, so you can just sell the duplicates after you can rip out the Abyss Gears and Synthesize Tier II versions with a Witch.
Awakened Spirit, Mysterious Gift, and Core Set Location
You receive the Awakened Spirit Spear, the Odeck’s Protector Plate armor set, and the Mysterious Gift for defeating the Forgotten General in a mystical test in The General’s Tomb at the northwest corner of Pailune, near Odeck.

You’ll need to clear the Black Bears out of Odeck first to unlock the quest that lets you fight The Forgotten General. The quest starts by speaking with a lady in Odeck near the cemetery south of Knytlingar Ruins in Odeck.

Defeating The Forgotten General may also unlock the Provisioner’s Shop in Odeck, who sells notable items like the Dark Grey Dye, Bear Hide Cloak, and Fine Logging Axe Blueprint.
Odeck’s Protector Plate Helm Location
You can loot the Odeck’s Protector Plate Helm from Hollow Haven, a small cave blocked by Bismuth you’ll need to use Focused Force Palm to break through. Hollow Haven is located southwest of Hexe Sanctuary in Tariv Sorcerer territory in northeastern Demeniss.

Odeck’s Protector Plate Chestpiece Location
You can loot the Odeck’s Protector Plate Armor (chestpiece) from a treasure chest in The Four Pits of the Wayward Woods in northwestern Pailune.

It’s hard to convey useful directions about navigating the Wayward Woods, but each of the four pits is connected to each other via a groove on the ground, so once you find one, just follow the rut to the next pit until you find the chest.
Odeck’s Protector Plate Cloak Location
The Odeck’s Protector Plate Cloak is just lying around on the ground in Frostwind Cave along the main road into Pailune City from the south.

The entrance to the large chamber is not a normal cave entrance despite there being one nearby. There’s a ladder nestled between some of Pailune’s signature redwood spike fences near a broken wagon downhill from the cave.

Once you climb down the ladder, you’ll find a multi-level labyrinth littered with way too many Black Bears for anyone’s good. The cloak is on the entrance/exit level in a room accessible from the corner to the left of the stairs from the entrance/exit ladder.

Odeck’s Protector Plate Gloves Location
You can loot the Odeck’s Protector Plate Gloves from a treasure chest in a small cave at the northern edge of Perwin Quarry, south of the Witchwoods in west central Hernand. You’ll need to use Focused Force Palm to break through the Bismuth blocking the entrance.

Odeck’s Protector Plate Boots Location
You can loot the Odeck’s Protector Plate Boots from a treasure chest at the Sanctum of Temperance southeast of Howling Hill and the Hernand Highlands. You’ll need to burn the vines to get to the chest.

Golden-Knotted Ancestral Bow Location
You can loot the Golden-Knotted Ancestral bow from the Pailune Ancestor’s Ruins south of Odeck and northeast of Longbranch in northwestern Pailune.

The entrance to Pailune Ancestor’s Ruins is never marked on your map. Much like the Odeck’s Protector Plate Cloak, you’re looking for a ladder and a small hole in the ground.

While this Bow has the most indirect connection to the Forgotten General, its proximity to Odeck and the Forgotten General’s Tomb, along with the lore text of the bow indicate that this is the best option by far.
Odeck Protector’s One-Handed Weapon Locations
There are no official one-handed weapons to pair with the Odeck Protector’s Plate set, and while they do strike a very different visual tone, the Odeck Wooden Club Mace and Odeck Hardwood Shield are your most fitting options.
Both items are craftable and can drop as common loot, but you can purchase them from Equipment Shops in Pailune.
Odeck Wooden Club Mace Location
You can craft the Odeck Wooden Club Mace if you’ve obtained One-Handed Weapons of the World, Vol. III, or purchase the weapon directly from the Equipment Shop in Odeck.

For some reason, they don’t sell the Odeck Hardwood Shield in Odeck!
Odeck Hardwood Shield
You can purchase the Odeck Hardwood Shield from the Equipment Shop in Pailune or craft it if you’ve obtained Shields of the World, Vol. II.

What to do with the Mysterious Gift
The Mysterious Gift is a free boost to Trust 100 for any single NPC, but you receive the Decorative Dragon Head Stirrups if you give the Mysterious Gift specifically to Haldwin, the Hernandian Contribution Shopkeeper.

The Decorative Dragon Head Stirrups are the best Stirrups in the game, healing your chosen (Legendary!) horse for +1 HP/second. The closest alternatives, the Delesyian and Berkei Stirrups cap that offer +0.8 HP/second.
This is the only known unique interaction with the Mysterious Gift and there is no indication in the game that you’re meant to do this.
There is presently no way to get a second Mysterious Gift if you wasted on someone else it like I did. Hopefully, Pearl Abyss will fix this issue.
Tips and Prep for Fighting The Forgotten General
The Forgotten General has a ton of health, defense, and hits incredibly fast and hard. While she is classified under the same Overwhelming Beings tier as Beloth, the Darksworn, and Ator, Archon of Antumbra, The Forgotten General is significantly more challenging and the hardest boss fight in the game by far.
Judgment of the Soul
Her signature “Judgment of the Soul” attack summons a bunch of spirits from the armors lining the walls that charge you in a line in sequence.

It’s impractical to dodge Judgement of the Soul or block it with your shield/weapon. If you mess it up once, you will get hit by the remaining waves of spirits, which will deal lethal damage unless you take bites of food between waves.
You can see where they’ll be coming from next because the next wave shows up before the current one makes it to the other side of the room. Keep in mind that they can come from opposite sides of the room at the same time.
They don’t charge into the columns that line the outside of the room, but it’s really hard to orient yourself correctly amid all the chaos.
The timing is still tight, but it’s much easier just to encase yourself in ice using the Frost Mantle Skill and hold it until the ghosts stop coming.

Since you’ll be Imbuing Ice, we recommend pairing it with Kuku Ice-Resistant Armor so you don’t accidentally freeze yourself with the frosty residue.
This tactic does consume a lot of Spirit, so make sure you remain topped off or you’ll run out and become vulnerable to charges from subsequent waves again.
Again, your window to do this is pretty small as there is deceptively long wind-up before you’re actually immune to damage. Unless you luck out and happen to be on the opposite side of the room from the charging ghosts, it’s probably too late to use the ability once they’re already charging at you.
The Forgotten General’s telegraph for her Judgment of the Soul attack begins with her striking the non-pointy end of her onto the floor multiple times and then pointing it at you. It’s evocative of the Lord Chamberlain announcing guests at a fancy party.

She doesn’t deal damage during this animation, so it can be a decent opportunity to hit her and interrupt your impending doom, but you don’t have time to hesitate or charge up something beefy. Also, sometimes she slams it really hard at the end to knock you back.
Stunlocking her with heavy attack spam is valuable to minimize how often she does Judgment of the Soul and her own Nature’s Echo attacks, but you do eventually run out of stamina and she likes to teleport away before announcing the arrival of more “guests”.
Essential Preparations
You can only fight The Forgotten General with Kliff (the first time), so you basically need to make sure he’s fully maxed out. This is THE time to use Greater Abyss Gears, which should safely last the full battle.
- Refine and use a full set of Tier 10 equipment
- Repair your gear at an Anvil and Grindstone
- Max out your Spirit, Stamina, and HP, though it is possible to defeat her if you stop at the Research requirement, when you would have to start using 5 Artifacts per level:
- 11+ Health
- 10+ Stamina
- 8+ Spirit
- Spend at least ~160 Abyss Artifacts total in the Skill tree
- This is the number required to unlock most or all of Kliff’s skills and reach the Spirit, Stamina, and HP thresholds
- Use the following Greater Elixirs before the fight starts (do it before triggering the cutscene so you don’t have to reapply them between wipes)
- Freya’s Greater Elixir (+30 Defense)
- Apollina’s Greater Elixir (+10 Attack)
- Meliara’s Greater Elixir (+225 Max HP, +3 Attack Speed)
- Use a full set of combat-oriented Tier III or Unique Abyss Gears and swap out as many as you can for Greater Abyss Gears, for example:
- Swap out a Destruction III for a Greater Destruction
- Don’t use Abyss Gears like Ascent I or Haste II
- Stock up on the following consumables, and if you’re worried about wasting them or running out, you haven’t made enough:
- Aromatic Grand Meals (Full Health +600 over Max, -5% Spirit Cost for 3 mins)
- Satisfying Extravagant Meals (+75% Spirit, No Spirit Cost for 6s, 50% Heal, Ice Resist Lv 6 for 1 min)
- Refined Palmar Pills
- Use the Axe of Armageddon
Remember to save your game and then pop your Greater Elixirs before triggering the cutscene. This way, if it turns out you weren’t ready, you can just reload that save and don’t lose all the rare consumables you spent on your failed attempt.
Axe of Armageddon
The Axe of Armageddon is one of your rewards for beating the main story. Don’t worry, that’s not really a spoiler. It has no connection to the story and feels really random to get.
It has a whopping 99999 Attack but only 1 Durability, so you get a single devastating swing that should end the life of whatever it hits.
The Forgotten General is the supreme enemy on which to spend this fleeting weapon, but as a testament to her own strength, it will only hit for ~25% of her max HP and can’t be used to finish her off!
