Appearance
The Ironwilled Guardian’s set is obtainable by all players in Crimson Desert and features numerous layers of multicolored fabric and leather topped with fur.
The lore text explains that this set was worn by Paulus, Jian’s deceased guard captain.
Even in uncertain times, I fear nothing with Paulus at my side.
As comrades who have stood together for many years, we have battled countless times trusting each other with our backs, felling innumerable foes. He does not need words to understand my woes.
To prepare for the coming troubles, I have appointed Paulus as the guard captain, and I have not a single doubt that there’s anyone more fitted.
He would gladly lay down his life for me, and for Pailune. It is also what makes my heart heavy, the decisions I make may be right as a leader, but feels a heavy burden to place on a friend. He has always put me before himself, and I worry it will one day weigh him down.
Even if I fall, he must survive and protect Pailune.
That is my only wish, and my final command.

Though the Ironwilled Guardian’s set is pictured with the Greymane Earrings and Necklace as well as Ignir and Wolf’s Fang, it’s worth noting that while Paulus (and Jian) were Pailunese, they were not Greymanes.
Jian was the leader of all Pailune, and the Greymanes are but a tribe just like the Black Bears and Lonely Jackals. Neither lived through the Black Bears’ initial attack. Torstein is the chief of Beighen and leader of the Blue Fangs.
Pailune seems to have a Mandalorian-style leadership structure with a bunch of clans that only unite under a Mandalore if there is such a person alive and capable.
Stats
The core Ironwilled Guardian’s set consists of ~6 fully upgradeable pieces and is wearable solely by Kliff.
As Leather Armor, it features moderate Defense, contributes to Tier I Lightning Resistance, and a little bit of extra Critical Rate on some unarmed attacks, but it breaks from the standard.
The Ironwilled Guardian’s Leather Cloak features Ice Resistance Lv 7 rather than some degree of Lightning Resistance, so you have Cold Immunity baked into the set and if you embed a Frostward III, you have Freeze Resistance as well.

You can obtain the Ironwilled Guardian’s set through crafting and secret locations across northern Pailune.
Ironwilled Guardian Helmet Location
The Ironwilled Guardian’s set does not come with a helmet, nor is there a suitable option available, so we recommend upgrading a helmet with a unique effect and hiding your helmet in the settings.
Ironwilled Guardian Chestpiece and Boots Location
You can craft the Ironwilled Guardian’s Leather Armor and Boots after learning the recipe from Leather Armors of the World, Vol. IV, which you can purchase from the Tannery at Forentin Lodge outside of Vellua in southern Hernand for 80 Silver after reaching 100 Trust with him.
Ironwilled Guardian Cloak Location
You can loot the Ironwilled Guardian’s Leather Cloak from an altar at the back of the Pailune Secret Vault east of Svinholt Ranch at the base of Silver Wolf Mountain in northern Pailune.
The entrance to the Pailune Secret Vault is an unmarked stone staircase built into the earth in the middle of the forest.
Ironwilled Guardian Gloves Location
You can craft the Ironwilled Guardian’s Leather Gloves after learning the recipe from Leather Armors of the World, Vol. II, which you can steal from the alchemy building in Odeck in northwestern Pailune.
Parashu Axe Location
The lore text on the Parashu Axe mentions an association with northern warriors and the pattern on the handle looks Pailunese. The weapon matches the color of the Ironwilled Guardian’s set perfectly and isn’t associated with any other NPC, so it’s a great fit for this set.
You can craft the Parashu Axe once you’ve learned the recipe from One-Handed Weapons of the World, Vol. IV, which you receive for completing the Alloy Weapon Conductivity Research Project at the Research Institute at Dewhaven Keep in Delesyia.
Oath Ring Shield Location
The lore text on the Oath Ring Shield is all about duty and protection, qualities synonymous with Paulus as captain of the guard.
You can loot the Oath Ring shield from an unmarked underground tomb near Volvior Ruins in the northeast corner of Odeck in northern Pailune.
The entrance inside the tomb is a trapdoor on the ground in a dilapidated shack at the end of the northeastern path in Odeck.
Golden-Knotted Ancestral Bow Location
You can loot the Golden-Knotted Ancestral bow from the Pailune Ancestor’s Ruins south of Odeck and northeast of Longbranch in northwestern Pailune.
The entrance to Pailune Ancestor’s Ruins is never marked on your map, but you’re looking for a ladder and a small hole in the ground.
This bow is a solid option that matches the set visually but lacks a clear connection to Paulus. The Noble Man’s Bow you find at Jian’s Grave is a decent alternative but looks a little too refined, in my opinion.
