Learn how to complete the sun and moon puzzle near Deadfire Mountain in Crimson Desert. This puzzle has you explore a series of fissures where you flip sun and moon stone slabs to solve.
Where to find the Smoking Lands Desert Mouth Maze
The Smoking Lands Desert Mouth Maze puzzle is found in northern Demeniss. It’s east of the Spire of Frost, north of the Hexe Sanctuary, and northeast of Deadfire Mountain. It’s a spire of swirling fissures, so do watch your step. There’s an Abyss Nexus just south of it for you to unlock at ground level.
In the center of the fissure is a circular opening with a strange mechanism at the bottom. It’s a circular map of the area with one lit sun and moon image and many unlit ones.

Flip the Sun and Moon Slabs
Around the fissures are stone slaps with a sun on one side and a moon on the other. Use Force Palm to flip these over and doing so can light up one of the symbols in the central mechanism.
These slabs can be fickle with how you flip them. The Force Current ability is a good way to flip them consistently. Alternatively you can climb onto them and use Force Palm to flip them.
Sun and Moon Slab Locations
The map on the central mechanism isn’t 1:1 perfect to the surrounding area. The majority of the slabs are easy to find as they’re out in the open with glowing particles near them. Five of these slabs are very close to the central mechanism.
The west and south slabs are slightly tricky to find. The south slab is already activated, so you can ignore that until the puzzle has been solved.
Western Sun and Moon Slab
To the west are some ruins on the other side of the outer fissure. Jump down here and you’ll find a path going north and another going south. Go south to find a path that leads to the stone slab.
If you hang onto the western slab and let it take you to the other side, moving forward while hugging the right wall will take you to the southern slab.
Southern Sun and Moon Slab
Save this slab until you’ve completed the puzzle as it’s already activated. Go down the southern fissure near the Abyss Nexus hug the left wall. This will lead you to the southern sun and moon slab.
Grab onto the slab and resist it while you Force Palm it. This will lead you into a hidden room with a small chest. This room appears important, but there’s nothing to interact with outside of the four torches and treasure chest. The slab on the ceiling cannot be flipped.
Rewards
After flipping all of the stone slabs except for the southern one, the central mechanism will trigger and the Abyss Cresset will activate. You’ll then gain an Abyss Artifact and a fast travel point as a reward.
